it is made for underwater, the camera is on a strong cable and you have the screen on your boat. I am using it here in the video. it is DVR. it does record.

Does not come with a battery. Google search battery and battery case for kayaks. There are other fish finder's that have built in batteries

I use a 18 volts cordless power tool lithium battery. It sits inside a waterproof plastic container. So far so good

@fabianf.7089 sounds OK since a boat battery is around 13 to 14 volts. A longer wire should give you a voltage drop. And the voltage will drop once you switch on your Garmin with transducer on.

@ yes. If I’m not mistaken. The 4cv voltage rating is between 12-20 volts. I don’t think voltage drop would be an issue at all on a kayak or float tube

Use dual screen and use both

Not really, I prefer a good camcorder, like Panasonic which is made for filming and has more settings in filming mode. It will cost a bit more and you will get better quality. 🙂

And the lens on this camera gives a narrow capture. Field of view. It needs to be a bit wider angle.

Yes even even clear Ve will make an object floating as a line when your not moving. That's why your fish finder only bleeps or gives of a ping when it is a fish.

Yep, you never know from where they are coming from. In deep waters they could be 50 feet away from your boat and you don't know which side

That's why I use a split screen one on low frequency, gives wider beam and the other on a higher frequency with a narrow beam. If they enter the higher frequency beam they are closer to your boat.🙂

This video is to show you how fish appear on your screen. This model does not have side scan. You could turn your transducer but the results would be the same and your depth would show a false readings

The structure has to be in the sonar beam, the fish in the video have passed under it. Depth readings show up on your top right hand corner and also on the side. Use auto depth

It will only show what's under your boat. You got to practically go over the fish 🐟

You cannot swim with the hand unit. You must not get it wet. There are other models that attach to the boat. Look at garmin or lucky with wire and boat attachment

Yes i know that hand unit cannot be wet. I want to attach to the boat only yellow sensor while hand unit will be onboard

Yep.

The fish alarm is automatically activated and gives off a ping when a fish enters your sonar beam. It does not matter if your using the fish symbol or not it still pings. Listen to the video when fish come on my screen, you can just here bleep bleep.

If a fish or line shows on your screen with no bleep or ping then it's debre and not a fish
