Hey nomnom :3 Short answer, yes. The thing is, her main weapon adds some damage, but the main source of dmg from Koko comes from her normal atks during burst. And they are hydro dmg, even if they scale with HP. If you want Koko on field, doing dmg, you will always want elemental dmg, since you can't get it from any other source, and it is multiplicative of the wholw damage. HP scaling on the other hand, while extremely important, isn't interacting with much on the calculationsl of dmg, just the added weapon dmg and the scalling from your talent. Hydro would be added after that, giving better returns. Like Healing Bonus, which enters as extra damage source instead of base dmg. Hard to explain without you looking at the whole dmg math, but you can find it on the internet, on Keqingmains. To give you something to think about, it's the same as the question: why i don't just build full Atk%, if the talent and weapon dmg scales off atk? It will just give low returns because it's base dmg, while elemental dmg and crit damage are being added on top of that. You can think of the weapon as a complement to your build, not something to build around (Moonglow specifically). Hope this was not too confusing!

I did some calculations on a Reddit post. Outside of burst, there's not much difference. With burst, i believe you're missing like 40k dmg, i need to check it out. Hydro dmg will always be better unless you're not using her burst and need more healing

Hey, good luck and wishing here for a early Koko for you! 40k HP is the high ceiling for her, you usually want from 35k to 40k. The higher the HP, the better, but she loses a lot of damage without Hydro dmg and Healing Bonus. Artifact farming is an eternal grinding so do as you find better. Her ideal stats are HP/Hydro/HB, 40k HP, 150 ER. With similar stats, a HB circlet deals more dmg than HP one (tested it before this video was made). Well, i think you threw away a kinda good piece, but don't worry, with time you'll get better ones 😂 Focus on HB circlet and you can leave the hydro goblet for an off set piece Edit: don't worry too much about HP loss, since it's more dmg loss without HB and Hydro goblet. But also it's a great damage loss to not have 4 OHC, so just keep a 4 piece and casually farm it until you get them

Ah darn, hope you can get some luck! But it's all random anyway. When i was farming OHC, i had also Jin so it was not wasted at all and i got good gear easily. Meanwhile... I farmed more Pale Flame than i would like and barely have a good 4 set. I farmed CW wanting some LW and got only meh pieces from both sets. Until now i don't have a usable LW, or Petra, for example haha Artifact farming is cursed

I have C1 only. Basically, C1 will just make her 3rd normal hit twice, with the last hit a little higher than the other. It won't have any impact on the clam set itself, as far as i know (i don't believe it counts as a normal atk for her burst healing).

With HB, you'll heal more with her skill off burst, and will heal more with Skill and normal atks during burst. Edit: HB also increases her normal atk dmg during burst. With HP, you'll heal less with skill off burst, and heal less with skill and normals during burst. You'll have more dmg with her burst and skill during burst, but both are not her primary damage sources. Her C1 may get more damage with HP too, but, again, her primary damage source is her normals during burst, not skill, burst or c1. They're complementary. With Clam, since HB heals more, you'll also be dealing more damage with the bubble both off and on field, with or without burst.

Well, Koko highest damage will always come from Clam and HB circlet for main dps. Why: 4 HoD can increase her normal atk damage by a good amount, but if it's 9k per normal combo, clam can deal 24k to 29k. 2 pieces from the sets are suboptimal most times. HB gives increased normal atk dmg to her normals than HP, tested.

@ProfChaos first of all, do remember upgrading a talent to 10 is just not worth it, unless you have the materials to spare. I saw a negligible difference in my normals during burst after crowing both burst and normal atk, something around 300 damage, if I'm not mistaken. With that said, for on field Kokomi, it is always burst first, then normals, skill for last. And Hydro Dmg goblet for more damage. Double/triple HP is only good if you only care for her healing and only that. She loses on field damage if not running Hydro Goblet.

@@profchaos7289 i would say, forget Clam for now. First, think about how are you using Koko. If she's on field using full burst, hydro goblet. If she's not using full burst, then you can use HP for Clam. If she's basically a support for a good dps, she can even use TToDS and Milelith instead of clam. So, to your answer, hydro won't benefit Clam, OHC is just an addition to her damage both on and off field, but you don't focus on its damage. Focus on how you want to use her first to know what will be better :)

That's why i have a nice build for Koko. It NEVER rolls into crit, even if it is to troll me 😂😂😂😂 (meanwhile, my other characters with 50 cr 140 cd...)

@@RubenSan07 hey, if it works for you, great! In a normal charged string with skill and burst, Moonglow was underperforming by a lot. You could use Thrilling Tales instead. HP too and more atk buff. Moonglow provides nothing for Miko aside from aestethics.

@@ellierosewood1341 you have zhong li, you have a strong shield and barbs can heal corrosion just fine. Koko may help, you can use her with xiangling, fischl and anemo traveler for example, for dps team, but she needs tons of investment to be really good. All of them. Kokomi won't improve your abyss clear time that much, she's comfortable to use but most abyss teams that use her are freeze and require sucrose, beidou. Raiden has more damage and more utility than kokomi for abyss fast clear, if that's what you want. In this matter, Kazuha is even a better choice, or ayaya. Your friends probably know nothing and maybe just talk about whatever they see content creators saying, and most content creators know nothing too. Faster abyss clear is more related to player skilland game knowledge than the units you use, because people with broken characters still can't clear abyss fast enough by not knowing team rotation, reaction, etc. If you can't get 24 stars, you probably need more investment and having a better understanding of your charactera, their strengths and weaknesses. Level up your talents and weapons. The initial characters, including benny and xq can clear abyss alone, for hardcore players. All in all, Koko is a great character, she is comfortable and with investment can help tons, but fast abyss clear is not only about character, so pull for what you want and are comfortable with. Kokomi is known to anyone who doesn't blindly ignore her potential by having one of the strongest damage alone, as seen in coop events with her outdamaging most dps (i myself saw it... Raiden, klee, diluc, ayaka, ganyu... Kokomi did more damage than all of them). But for fast abyss clear, if you want to play by meta, you must first look what she can improve to what yoi already have, and for the characters you listed i don't think she'll do much, but i also don't use them. Play to have fun and ignore whatever others say. Trying to git gud in the game is an easy way to get frustrated, because your characters are never strong enough, you always need X unit, better artifacts, etc. Have fun and know that with time you'll get stronger, as you get better weapons, talents and artifacts. Kokomi is amazing, but decide if you want to play for a fast abyss clear (and maybe not do it) or if you want to have fun with fish girl.

Idk about other's but i myself tend to do the opposite of what is told, especially that time when i saw kokomi being hated by the community. I instead heavily invest on her and till now i have no regrets having a walking statue... so in short follow what you want and dont give in to the other people opinions.

Never. Never build Kokomi thinking on the bubble damage. It is a complement to her damage only. If you want Koko to heal, build her to heal and bubble will do damage. If you want her to deal damage, build her for her personal damage, and bubble will follow. With that said, bubble does *not* benefit from any damage sources. It will only ever build up healing received and explode for 90% of it. What matters here is the enemy resistance (bubble ignores defense). So, bubble will do more damage against enemies with low physical resistance, like all humans, and enemies affected by Rosaria c6 or superconduct, for example. This is the only way to increase bubble damage.

People said she was garbage because she can't crit, and they still say the same. Even without OHC, after she was released everyone saw how valuable she was and just decided to keep thrashing the character out of spite, ignorance and stupidity. Any reasonable player knows by now, if they took the minimum time to understand her, that she has a strong on field dps alone, thus enabling off field dps to shine more, and also is a great choice for freeze teams and overall support using Tenacity and Ttods. Whoever provoked kokomi players and kept saying bull about her is a troll and they won't change, ever. Even meta players know how good she can be on her niche.

well she is not garbage she is just not worth pulling from meta prespective unless someone is very comfortable with sukokomon team..which btw very hard to implement... she was just a better barbara and she still is... it a more consistant hydro application and 100% uptime. But if someone like the charecter they are always wellcome to pull whoever they like

@@HolyT3rror I had plans to pull her, cause I knew her hydro enabling would be equally as important as Xingqu, but her story utterly disappointed me. It was more about Watatsumi island’s suffering. Which I am cool with, if they had just made it a world quest. Kokomi as a character did nothing notable or character defining in her own story quest. You can’t just call a character intelligent and not make her do anything intelligent. They say only extremely intelligent people can write extremely intelligent characters. I believe Mihoyo has a team of hardworking and clever writers, but none of them are ground-breakingly intelligent story tellers which Kokomi needed to have to make her character look good.

@@RKNancy true, MHY is writing superficial and light stories on the game, with a bit of deepness here and there, mostly on lore bits. Tbh, i actually liked that Kokomi quest was not focused solemnly on her, so personal opinion is also at play here. Her quest was interesting and showed more how she is actually a flawed person, not what everyone say she is. Far from that. And with this they create characters that are more real like... Sometimes boring, sometimes dull... I like it, but for a fictional story, we are expecting heroes, to see their virtues and valor, not their flaws and how "normal" they are. Kokomi, for example, dreams of being a strategist, but actually is really far from it, and they actually showed this onher quest. She has some empathy, she knows how to act in the situation, but is just a regular person trying her best to feel good and be happy. I perfectly understand how shallow and uninteresting this can be to most, and MHY definetely made their worst with the resistance part in the archon quest,which didn't help her at all hah

@@igg12 well, meta on genshin is absolute bullshit, because timers. They have artificial difficulty where no matter how good a character is, you have to pass dps checks. Damage over time in genshin matters little when you have no time for it. They are probably delaying dendro because as fun as venom/poison can be, it will always feel weak compared to the already completely broken vaporize/melt multipliers (assuming dendro will work like this. Or what I'm hoping for lol)

Hydro dmg goblet and Kokomi's ascension

No one can deny that she needs ER - her burst is her only way of doing damage, and having it up on CD is ideal. But it all depends on teams. If you have very low ER it's ok to use ER sands, but if you can keep farming, then it's best to grind ER subs instead. For Koko, it's really important to have her skill hitting enemies 100% if the time for particles. In a team with 2 eletro, some anemo units and/or another hydro, you probably won't need ER sands if you can reach around 150 ER on subs only. It's hard, of course, but if she's a dps, then it's a significant loss of damage, mostly because you shouldn't be evaluating her damage based on Clam alone. Clam is a nice addition, but her personal damage matters more. Of course, we fall into the cycle - no burst, no damage, so... It all depends. Ideialistic, for a high invested Koko, you want HP sands, around 40k HP and 150+ ER.

You can see it all in details in the reddit post i linked in description, but tldr: For dps Koko, HP sands, Hydro Dmg Goblet, Healing Bonus Circlet, using Clam set. HP goblet means more healing and less damage. HP Circlet means less damage and Healing. Moonglow>Prototype Amber only. For sup Koko, usually in freeze teams where she only applies hydro and heals, you'll probably want to run 4 Milelith with HP or ER sands, HP goblet and HB Circlet, focusing on HP, ER and Atk subs. Burst will only be used to replenish skill field time and weapon is Thrilling Tales.

Well, some people say she's easy to build but all characters are tied to artifact rng in the end. You'll get better HP rolls in the future The best would be to aim for 35k to 40k with around 150ER. If your healing is too low and you are not caring that much for her personal damage, switch to HP% goblet, even if it's not the best overall, it will help, because everything ends up being situational...

I tried hp goblet once and i wasn’t really satisfied with her overall damage because i use her as a driver in an EC comp. another question if you don’t mind, Is moonglow a significant upgrade to protoamber?

If you have 30,000 then you are already ahead of the scale somebody did a test to figure out how much they needed to be to hit the 30,000 heal cap and I believe the answers said that you basically needed to be around 28, 000, mine is heavily invested I'm using R5 prototype Amber because I don't have the signature weapon yet big yet because I will be pulling till I get it I've got 37, 000 hit points and it's more than enough do not need higher than that unless you really just want to heal for the biggest numbers possible

@@aczavius more HP, more dmg, basically. If you're talking about capping bubble, we're talking about her burst, because skill can't do it alone. So, if you're using her burst to hit, you want max HP to increase her overall damage, since it all scale off HP. Kokomi must NOT be built for the clam damage. It is just an addition. If you're using her burst, you want her damage, clam will follow. If you're using her only as skill bot, clam is just an addition, though in this case you can run as much HP as you can because skill alone ca to reach the cap. I don't know which calcs the person you said did, but you must focus on practice, not theory. Everything changes depending on how you're playing her. Edit: wait, are you talking about max HP or healing done per 3 sec(1 bubble)? I may have misinterpreted your post, if that's the case, I'm sorry lol

Actually, it's the contrary. She has better scaling with Healing Bonus, for her healing (so more damage for clam) and for her normals. HB is like crit for Kokomi, it's her best stat for damage. I already tested it before and both had the same subs, and HP underperformed both in healing and damage on burst.

After hu tao? WHERE'S KEQUEEN? Jokes aside, she's a really powerful unit that is looked upon because her damage comes in waves, not a single boom. In a spam of 10 sec of burst, according to my calculations based on this video, she was dealing around 300k damage, alone. Now that i have more HP, it's even more and with some support, like VV and Yun Jin, for example, this can go even higher.

@@ChiyoTachi well, of course it depends how you use her, but if you're using her full burst time to attack, then hydro goblet, always. It's easy to cap the bubble dmg with like 35k hp on burst, and the dmg increase from skill only won't compensate for the overall loss in every single instances of her dmg. I did the calculations in the link i posted on description, there's a not sooo significant difference in dmg, but the difference exists and it favors hydro dmg over hp. Also, you can get hydro dmg with hp substat, but not otherwise. Hydro dmg only exists as main stat so you either have it or not, while HP comes from many sources and it's easier to build. Overall, build Kokomi for herself and treat clam as an addition to her. You usually won't want to build her and her team for clam damage because it's not the focus, it just adds to her damage as a bonus.

@@ChiyoTachi for freeze, usually people want to use her with Thrilling Tales of Dragonslayers, 4 piece Tenacity of the Milelith and you can safely go for HP instead of Hydro dmg. For eletro comp, then yes, it's best to get Moonglow/Prototype Amber and HP/Hydro dmg/HB I use her to deal damage so it differs a bit if she's only a support

Yup, that's it. Tbh, in some cases where she's a healing bot there's a chance you'll actually want to run Ttods and 4 Milelith instead of clam, using burst only to refresh skill. But for personal damage, it's always that with HP weapon.

and what about sub dps/off field dps ? like is it better HP sand for the clam set's damage ? or hydro dmg is better overall for sub dps/off field ?

@@wolfwoof2000 if you're not using her burst, but actually want her as a sub dps off field, then you may want more HP, because jellyfish damage alone won't do much. But, usually, if you're running her off field without using burst, you probably want her to use 4 Tenacity instead. She's not a great off field dps because her damage is negligible and she will merely serve to apply hydro and heal. If your on field dps is not that strong and you definitely NEED the clam damage, it's ok to use it then, but skill only clam damage is around 8k to 11k, depending on enemy and healing done. Add 2k from skill for a well built koko, and you have like 15k each 3 bubble (2 ticks plus bubble). Bubble damage is only really worthy if you're capping it, and Koko only does while on burst, so, again, only use 4 clam id your pieces are really nice and you definitely want this extra damage. A ayaya or eula dps almost certainly will prefer 4 Tenacity (and Thrilling tales), but i may be wrong.

Right now i finally got to 40k HP, but it's all artifact luck, no more no less. I'm using Moonglow, so HP% sub, and HP% sands with nice HP% subs on most pieces. It's hard balancing it all out, especially because she needs high ER, but with time you may get to it. Also full level, both her and weapon at 90

I have kokomi at level 80/80 with lvl 90 proto amber and she has 35k hp lol

@@user-qr6ss3vq6b It isn't that hard to get her artifacts. Pretty much all she needs is HP%. The healing bonus circlet is probably the hardest one but I was very lucky and got one the first day farming the set. Koko does enough healing for maxing the bubble during her burst just with HP% and healing bonus main stats even if the substats are bad.

@@HolyT3rror I only use him in the abyss since I need to freeze the opponents for Ayaka’s ult to hit (my Xinqiu is paired with Hu Tao). Which could’ve been done with Kokomi :( but other than that he’s benched 😂😂😂 Literally Signora was the character that made me continue with the game, doubt she’ll be playable tho for obvious reasons

Got her on an alt account and skipped her on main for tartaglia. Lol personally i don't regret it because qiqi does really well with this set too (even managed to face tank lvl 70 azdeha) barbara wont get the same numbers but having a dps healer on the team is always fun lol

Kokomi alone is enough to save for her! Jokes aside, she packs all you need in one character : tankiness, because of her high HP, great healing, also she heals anyone at anytime without needing to atk monsters, and with clam set she does a lot of damage over time alone. She enables a lot for her team and free space for a lot of different team compositions. Who knows, she might get a rerun sooner than we think! Good luck! Enjoy, have fun and happy new year!
