GIANT Catfish Live Under Barges! (First Trip to the Ohio River)
Thomas and I took a trip to the Ohio River and we sure made it count. Check out how we loaded up on skipjack and shad, caught 20-30 catfish, and were able to land one truly monster fish... all for the first time on the Ohio!

My first-ever trip to Alabama was an awesome one. Aside from one catastrophic mistake you'll see that I made, it was so cool to be a part of a tournament with such great staff, 188 teams who were happy to teach what they know, and (of course) big fish.

I had to go fish during the family vacation, and I'm glad I did. Watch as I catch bluegill, sunfish, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, crappie, northern pike, and walleye. My first time using jugs to catch catfish was a blast. Watch us get a bunch of bait out of the river, catching plenty of fish with nothing but jugs, and then bonus- sped-up footage of me cleaning a big one. I'd definitely recommend trying jugs if you fish for catfish!

When you get into a school of bait that good in deeper water consider dropping a live scan down in the water to see if cats are feeding on them. Many times the will feed on them elevated off the bottom. If so match the hatch and match the depth and you will catch them straight off the side of the boat. Live scan isnt just a crappie and bass tool.
@scottgray7492 that's a great tip, thanks Scott. We did try suspending rods throughout the trip at different depths and couldn't seem to come up with much
@@fishingwithryan918 also you say barge bite is a thing. I was down south in clear water on TN river and we had a camera down when a barge approached. It was upstream of us heading down stream. By the time the barge was about 40 yds upstream our bait began to flutter. Not sure if it was from increased water movement, sound vibrations or what but the flutter stopped as it got about even with us. Then a bit of debris kicked by but not much. I have yet to get a bait video with the barge heading upstream towards me but one day i will. Just thought i would share. Also we found that with a tight line if you simply place your hand on the handle of your rod the bait slightly moves. The slightest novement transfers through the line. Again just interesting facts.

Lake Lemon is a pretty lake. Havent been to it but a handful of times but its nice. I am taking a trip down to Nickajack in a month. Fish there for a few days then up to Rising Sun for their 2 day tournament. You wont hear me complain about fishing for a week straight!

How deep is that stretch of water?
@tomher83 had our best luck in about 12 feet of water. Doesn't get more deeper that 15 feet below the dam

Check out some of my older videos if you get a chance- I explain how and why I use them. They're called planer boards and they help a lot for when you're fishing while trolling.

I live in central Indiana and fished a couple stretches of our rivers. Havent fished them in a while but if you ever wanna fish sometime let me know. I fish tournaments as well could always use a partner
