ACL SURGERY | ACL & Meniscus tear | First 24h VLOG
Monday 17th June 2024, a month after my injury, I went through a successful ACL surgery.
It's my third ACL tear, second one in the same knee. The main priority of the surgery was to fix the meniscus first and prepare for a second ACL surgery later on, but luckily they were able to do everything in one surgery.
I'm going through the surgery in depth and explaining exactly what they did, and showing post 24 hours.
Will try to keep posting my ACL journey and my comeback to being a Crossfit athlete again.

    Thanks so much for posting this, girl! Very informative. I'm actually getting surgery soon, too. I am wondering if you could explain more about what it was like to get put to sleep? This is the part that FREAKS me OUT!! Like, what does it feel like? How do they do it? What does it feel like when they put the stuff in, like do you get sleepy or is more like wide awake to instantly out? Could you have stayed awake if you would have tried or is it impossible? Haha. Basically whatever you remember about that part would be helpful. Thanks so much!

    This is a really hard question. 27 years on this planet and I still don't really know who am I. I always wanted to be the "strong shoulder". But after every up there three downs and from time to time I must realise I am not strong at all. I must realise that I maybe will never come to the point I wanted to be. I think I only wanted to be a strong rock, because my parents never had a great self-consciousness. The "easiest" way to proof yourself what you're able to do ist doing sports and trying to beat yourself again and again. Sometimes I ask myself for what? I can go on and on till I die but whats the sense of it? It will not really help me to find my peace here. Am I running away from everything? We're all getting old one day. We must deal with the problem of getting joint issues and so on. Our bodies are fucking transitory. I mean one stupid injury and you're maybe not able to walk or jump again. And it makes me cry. I want to do so much stuff and I always struggle in my mind with the thoughts of getting another injury, rubbing down my cartilage with every cracking or clicking sound. I really suffer with these thoughts. Feels like I am never ready to "start my life", because I always need to fix an injury or something else. I want to reach my goals to be happy enough to start relationship and enjoy my existence. Thats stupid I know... The clock is ticking and life is everyday. Feels so weird. Living my life somewhere in my brain, but not here. I don't know what my identity should be if I need to stop what I love. Sport feels like an investment in yourself. Other hobbies feel more like wasting time to me. I don't see sense in wasting time. Oh damn, a long text. Sorry😅

    This is something I've struggled with my whole life. It's inspiring hearing you talk about gaining that understanding of your personal identity and in building that mental resilience and knowing your self worth - this episode seems very apt in light of your unfortunate injury.     The inner strength and determination to continue to keep pushing through intense suffering far beyond the point at which others gave up which made you one of the best in the sport - you are now putting to use to get through these hard times. As you take time for your knee to recover, you will build new levels of grip, core, and upper body strength. I look forward to a smooth surgery and getting back to rehab.

Dyrker selv crossfit på hobby basis - og har lige fået skade på min ene meniske og et overrævet ACL, og har så svært ved at skulle gå i stå med træningen - så kan slet ikke forstille mig de følelser du skal kæmpe med.     You are a champion in all of our eyes! This is a small set back and we all are pushing/hoping for a quick recovery. Your u said it a couple times, that you are one of the fittest on the planet.     Best Luck. Got my ACL repaired 6 weeks ago. After lots of research and talking to 4 doctors, they used the healing response technique and fixed it without using a graft! Depends on where the tear is located and should be done quickly after the accident. Just as an info, because the first 2 doctors said, it’s not possible.

    I think this is a great video because it shows the people who do have the “typical” jobs WANT to have a career where they follow their passion. Then on the flip side the person who is following her passion is always thinking about getting a “typical” job.

    Hi Rebecka, i had the same rupture 14 years ago and i wasn't aware of the fact that they (doctors) can replace it with the semitendinosus tendon. So they followed the common way at that time to take a Part from the patellar tendon. It takes a longer time to recover, especially to bend the knee, doing scar-care and it feels that it's a longer way back into the sport. i had the direct comparison cause two of my friends had the same shit and they got the semitendinosus tendon operations. But in the end.. im totally fine with taking a part of the partellar tendon. This tendon is so fukcing strong and hard. Part of the recovery is that you get to be able to fully bend your knee cause this tendon is rly tough to stretch. Both friends got another rupture on their knees thanks to football (i'm from germany, so i'm speaking of the europe football :D) . I was able to do football, kickboxing, boxing an now crossfit. All doctors told me, that this tendon won't ever rupture again, the possibility tends to 0. Doing the drawer test, the ligament in the ruptured knee is stronger than on the not ruptured knee. There is only one long term shit with this operations. sitting on the knees will never feel the same so that i do sports with a bandage. But thats ok. If it was your first acl rupture i would tell you that the semitendinosus tendon is the best i guess, despite the fact that this ligament can rupture again. Crossfit is not football regarding the movements. think u rly had bad luck in this case. But now, you cannot choos this tendon. Just wanna clarify, that talking the partellar tendon is not such a worst case scenario as you maybe think. Taking other tendons from muscles in the legs may not be the beste idea. Maybe you can talkn about all that with your doctors . Just a hint =) Good recovery and best wishes!

    Jag känner igen mig i allt du säger, I had a patellar tendon tear and a groin tear from playing soccer my whole life that kept getting re-injured and I finally had to quit after college. And then I dealt with repetitive back injuries that took me the better part of 3 years to rehab and recover from. It’s not just heartbreaking. It is psychologically devastating. The psychological ruins that long injuries can put you in are just… crushing. I am SO sorry you’re dealing with this. I know it doesn’t help much but at least you can still train core and upper body, if that’s a silver lining. I remember with my back injury, I basically couldn’t train anything except arms for the longest time. My whole identity felt in crisis. Anyway, I am sending you alllll the healing vibes so you get this recovery on the road. Each day gone is one day closer to being back out there 🩵

    I love this workout and your crew looks awesome! I think I'm going to start this workout as a weekly challenge, maybe 15 minutes or 250 reps for the first time and increase time and reps every week. Thank you for sharing this! Good luck with your recovery.

    Good luck with the surgeries. It’s frustrating as hell to have to go through this but remember rehab isn’t only for now, it’s for you in 20/30 years time also. Stay positive!

    I was in my early 20's, walking with a cane after a back injury. I was told that eventually I'd be in a wheelchair even if I got the surgery done (which turns out is the worst option). My then wife, who was two weeks pregnant with our second child, left me and took our son with her to her home state. I was depressed, unable to work and gained an excessive amount of weight, almost reaching 300 pounds which I didn't hold well since I'm just a little over 5'7". It took me a few years to get myself healthy in all aspects of life, while still seeing my kids regularly. I'm 39 now and started a routine so I can do next year's MURPH CHALLENGE. This injury is a slowdown, and I can relate to the feelings you're having right now but they will hopefully change as you progress to recuperating.
