    Great video. For what it's worth; I've done my fair share of rural Japan public transport travel; over the years, but eventually just switched to car rentals. Car rentals aren't that expensive in Japan. You need to get an international driver's permit. Which should be easy to get if you have a driver's license, it's like a piece of paper you request from your local government. Plus having a car gets you to even more off-the-beaten path destinations than even rural buses and a good amount of hiking can get you to. If you have a driver's license, i would recommend going that route for rural Japan.

    You have explained the easy part. Buy a pass or icocoa card ( buy this if you are going to be using for more than 2 days and going to other places in Japan). The hard part in navigating Osaka is the 2 train company station system that is all underground that all blends into each other. There is no coloured line s to guide you between station systems. And if you cross over at the double stations and need to travel in the other direction you need to sometimes leave the station and go to another station with the same name that is not attached. Easy if you grow up with this system (sigh).

    They may not ban tourists. But….. I hate to spoil your image about Japan. But fact is tourists are not really that welcome. Especially not here in Kyoto. Today in Sado class I was talking to some ladies. They were keep repeating that this now is toooooooooo much! Too crowded. Too many people coming. We can’t do daily chores. Over tourism affects daily lives. Traffic jams cause’s bus delays. If the bus comes often we can’t enter because it is too full. You can hardly see Japanese on the road. Only white people and some multi coloured. It is hell!!!

    I think you might have answered in the video, but I just need clarification. If I were to buy the 72 hr metro pass and need to use a limited express train, I would need to buy that ticket with my IC card right? Honestly the limited express train stuff is super confusing to me. we'll be going to tokyo, kyoto then osaka and back to tokyo. I just don't want to get stranded lol

    • @Will_Zhao
      @Will_Zhao 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes and no. You usually will have to buy tickets for them, that is correct. But the payment method can vary, most but not all ticket machine/ticket counter take IC cards for payment, so cash would be your safest bet.

    The ban also isn’t prohibiting people from entering the private alleyways at this point. Just no pictures on the alleyways. I walked the main road and expected all of the cops to yell at people who turned onto them, but was surprised when they just let people walk and go about their day. So I walked around them myself without issue.

    I fell in love with Onomichi the first time I visited there back in 2007 and I've returned over a dozen times since then. It's been described as Japan's "home town" and it's often referenced in Japanese movies and even anime series like Kamichu! Pro tip: if you're feeling the heat at the top of the ropeway there's a shop selling ice cream behind the viewing platform. I recommend the vanilla and mikan soft-serve cone.

    • @Will_Zhao
      @Will_Zhao 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yeah I know the place you are talking about. Sat there for a few minutes and had to wipe myself non-stop with a towel just to cool off. I can take the heat, but the humidity is just impossible.

    • @robertsneddon731

      @@Will_Zhao My usual deal is to climb up to the top of Senkoji mountain on foot and treat myself to ice cream and catch the ropeway back down. Before they built the new elevated viewing gantry there was a circular building with a ramen restaurant and the viewing gallery was on top. I usually visit the Ushitora shrine next door to the lower ropeway station and say hello to the tree growing in the courtyard. It's something special.

    Unfortunately Osaka Amazing Pass is already discontinued, and they changed it to Osaka e-pass, which gives you free admission to certain attractions (50 or more places) but not the transportation.
