If you use a PC, make sure you buy the Steam version of Red River. DVDs don't work. And it will not run on Windows 11. You need Windows 10.

This game is great but brutal on higher difficulties and even though there's lots of long range firefights the enemy will rush and take your position if not careful my my best advice use your fire team 😅✌️

Good to know that it still works on consoles. DVD PC versions don't seem to work anymore, at least on Windows 10 and 11. Only Stam version works and only for Windows 10.

Yeah, this thing is super rare. The more time goes by the harder it is to find these rare edition. I've recently found another rare CD from China. Version 1.20 with a mission about taking out Bin Laden which was made in 2001 in China.

My guess is this game is just not politically correct enough and has waaay too many swearings, homophobia, racism...even name of the current president of Tajikistan is mentioned in the manual. As much as it adds to realism, these days, such niche stuff doesn't sell. You either sell to literally everyone from kids to adults or to nobody to make profit. And good profit pays good development teams.

Well, rifleman is the easiest and the most preferred class as it is part scout (with a sniper scope), part grenadier (with underslung grenade launcher) and part machine gunner (with auto mode on its weapons). I do love grenadier, auto rifleman now though. The armor piercing round and grenades are cool.

It's ok. I absolutely love this game. However, it depends what you expect from it. It's pretty realistic as a tactical shooter. IMHO, it has better sounds and gunplay than Dragon Rising. I love the voice over. Don't expect to be able to drive multiple vehicles in it. There are only 3 of them : HUMVEE, Dongfang, and Nissan Datsun pickup.

A rare case when a commercial is actually welcome as it adds to the realism. Imho

@signinups6466 Thanks a lot. Would be great if gevs came back to this game to continue or remaster it, but the devs are simply not there. Codemasters focused on racing games after Red River, and then they were purchased by EA, and EA are not likely to come back to Red River. Sad.

Looks good ngl, unfortunately I never played this game, I was too hooked on Battlefield at the time, that said I’ve been considering buying it but I doubt there are many if any servers going anymore. The sounds could a little better though, especially the call outs, they just don’t sound right, like there’s no urgency in their voices.

There is no urgency in their voices because they are "Outlaws", the baddest m...kers of the USMC!☝😅 In fact, this game has unique voice over, made by quite famous actors (Al Mathews from 'Alien') and the soundtrack features songs, such as 'Bodies' by Drowning Pool and others.

Yes, it was. I don't know how many copies were made in 2000s but I assume that a lot. I got this one from Japan. They are quite rare now, especially the ones which are still sealed. I have 2 of them. One is sealed, the other one is without a box.

@@etnogamer7073 While I agree that it's great there are changes that could be made. The data files contain lots of daft restrictions which impede modding. Map making should be a *lot* easier, and the "strat" layer could be expanded.

Yep, the are. I've also got complete Japanese and English. Japanese is my favourite one. Looks bizzare watching Japanese speaking units fighting German speaking unints on a Normandy beach)
