    I just have to make another comment about this video as well, after i been scrolling through all diff. comments on this video. Leatherman did not just puts together these tools on a whim? This has been created with purpose and dedicated to professional medics, firefighters and other professional specialist occupations. This has been developed by top level engineers over time, and carefully thought out in every possible way. And making claims that cheap copies are just as good and can do the same job is just nonsense. Problably useful for you amateur use at home somehow, but at length for professional emergency personnel and military conditions NOT. Leatherman Raptor Rescue is made for to have a excellent quality and area of use for all environment and endurance in Professional occupations. Greetings, a happy owner of the original Leatherman Raptor Rescue.

    Im a newer EMT. We were told the 2-3 inches above the wound in class for tourniquettes, but my FTO training me at my job told me to put it towards the top of the arm. Can anyone with more experience elaborate. I mean, this dude does swat and stuff and has 14 years experiance, and I do know that with a lot of jobs, there's the book way, and then there's the real life way. Im not questioning the logic, justbwindering if someone more experianced has some imput on it

    X-Shears are worth carrying as a single purpose tool. They cut through ANYTHING and don't fatigue your hands when you've got a badass job like cutting someone out of turnouts and SCBA harnesses. I have $400 worth of them and drill some of the handles for a tiny split ring to attach to a Keyback 48 Plus retractor. I'll carry X-Shears before a fancy pocket knife or any other EDC tool on my own personal time.

    Gotta say, cheap isn't always nasty. I got a two-pack of generic Chinesium shears off Amazon for around 13 pound (one pair for an FAK, one for around the house). I've used the 'house' ones to open clamshell packaging, cut fabric, coax cable, paracord, carpet, and god knows what else, and they have never let me down. Even the black coating hasn't worn off! Don't know if I just got lucky, but it's the best value £6.50 I've ever spent.

      If it comes loose in the opposite direction, it means you can't open the shears normally, and instead you need to manually pull open the blades. Opening the blades is part of the cutting operation in shears/scissors, dummy.

    The cheaper sears probably use cheaper and softer metal so it will be dull quicker

    • @studentparamedics
      @studentparamedics ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve heard of little rust spots appearing in the fakes. There’s no reliable QC for longevity here as the manufacturers are not interested in brand reputation.

    • @Roshan_420
      @Roshan_420 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@studentparamedicsrust can also appear on the most expensive sears or knives if they use carbon steel but the type of metal really makes a difference in the longevity of the blade, they can both be sharp but the softer metal will be dull rather quickly such as a cheap knife, I’m interested in the Raptor but I’m not a paramedic, more into hiking and such

    • @Roshan_420
      @Roshan_420 ปีที่แล้ว

      This one uses 420HC stainless steel btw “Leatherman multitools primarily makes use of three different steels for their blades: S30V, CM154 and 420HC. 420HC STAINLESS STEEL: An improved, high-carbon (HC) form of 420 stainless steel that works well with high production tooling. 420HC's strength is optimized in Leatherman multitools by heat treatment.” So its carbon steel, which is very hard and retains its shape, unlike cheaper sears or knives

    They seem like a con. It's just a crepe bandage with a bit of trauma gauze or haemo gauze, better to buy many of those things and make your own and tape, instead of the clip that's fiddly and will break

    • @studentparamedics
      @studentparamedics ปีที่แล้ว

      I’d say something more like a conforming bandage and a combine dressing - I’m not very keen on securing gauze onto a wound as a topical dressing. Benefits I see in this particular dressing are: 1. Crepe bandages don’t have a pressure applicator. 2. There are no clips and I’ve never seen one break.

      No way. Pressure bandages are one of the gold standards of EMT/Medic gear. Many uses, durable, and can act like a windless in certain situations.
