yes of course 40 CH CEPT "EU" mode is identical to 40 CH FCC USA standard 26.965 -27.405 Mhz The radio only needs to be switched to "EU" mode.

If I had to choose, it would definitely be the George II. Then you have both. On the one hand you have a well-behaved, legal George II and with SwitchMode you get the functionality of the Lincoln II with better features. The Lincoln II is technically outdated. Better to wait for the Lincoln III. I think it will still be on the market in 2024, but 2025 at the latest. And it will be significantly better.

Thank you for your reply Sir.👍 May i ask what switchmode with the George means ? Is that maybe somekind of diy switch ? That needs to be soldered on the board ? What if you today needed to buy an antenna ? And you had to choose between the Syrio Gain Master or the President Himalaya ? I am sorry that i ask a few questions. That is normally not something i like to do. Normally i do research and wrestle myself through a lot of information. And also in time during use it is where the "real" knowledge is obtained. But i want to buy a complete setup. And i need to be sure that later on while everything is in use that i do not quickly start to regret certain decisions ? That it would have been better that i went for something else. Because getting a good and most of all a complete setup that withstands time is a bit expensive. Around a 1000.00 Euro if i go for the George 2 Export and a Himalaya antenna. With decent (RG-213U Mil C17) coax cable. The distance between the George and the antenna is around 12 meters. But because i can not go straight with the cable i need around 25 meters in total lenght. It is kind a weird. More then 40 years ago CB was something that i loved to do. But then i had to move. And by accident becoming aware that CB is still going strong i can not wait to order and install everything. And trying everything out again. Also the part of aquiring knowledge during the time of use is much fun. And also there has allways been someting in the back of my head " what if f.e. a cyberattack happens and phones and tv are down ? " Then it would be great if you are still able to communicate and not only can get info but also can share info. I also have to say that the look of the George 2 is very beautifull.

don't talk bullshit and watch the video to the end. it is measured with a 600 bugs vector based wattmeter, the accuracy of which you can only dream of. calibrated to 1% accuracy RMS+AVG and max 3% accuracy for PEP measurements. not even a BIRD can do that. after modification, the radio performs exactly as i have described and don't forget: it's the cb mode, not the extended one !!!

​​​@@KlausR I've been in tge service menu and had it hooked up to 4 different meters a Revex and Welz and a digi meter and a bird 4304a. I even have that kpo meter you have in the video. They all read around the same. Cant get more than 30w out of FM. And yes i have all the equiptment to put the radio right i put a DX5000 plus right that had been messed up via service menu and a 9900. Ironically both from the same lad. I did not mess with TX IQ or SSB DC though as i wasnt sure what they did just yet.

I think i may have found the issue im getting nearly a 3v drop on my power supply when i key up. Voltage has a big effect in mosfets. I guess this is where im losing output power perhaps? Damn it, its a 60 amp power supply too.

@@KlausR ok im on another psu now with no voltage drop and im now getting 40w FM and peaking 50w ssb. Thats all i can get out if it with the menu..

Interessant, das es bei dir auch ist. Wie bereits beschrieben, ist es mir noch nicht aufgefallen. Auch habe ich bis jetzt (Stand 11/2023) keine Meldungen von anderen dazu erhalten. Kann sein, das auch nur eine bestimmte Charge davon betroffen ist, andere nicht. Hierzu wäre dann die Angabe der Seriennummer(n) von Vorteil, ob das der Fall ist. Soweit mir bekannt ist, hat es seit den allerersten Geräten auch Änderungen in der Firmware gegeben (Patch). Zumindest waren die Allerersten, frühen Versionen anders als die aktuellen Versionen bzw. Seriennummern, so meine Erfahrung (Unterschiede in der Firmware/Service-Menü).

Moin und frohe Weihnachten 🎄 also, ich habe meine George am Freitag bekommen, sie aber noch nicht ausgepackt. Was ich zum S-Wert allerdings sagen kann ist, dass es genau so bei meiner McKinley war. Während längeren QSO‘s sank der S-Wert der Gegenstationen um ca. 3 S-Werte. Ich hatte diesbezüglich mal meinen Händler des Vertrauens kontaktiert, der mir seinerzeit sagte, dass es ein bekanntes McKinley Problem sei. So wie es aussieht, scheint es ein President-Problem zu sein. Aber mal abwarten. 73, Jörn

Es gibt die Möglichkeit das man sich eine externe 3,5mm S Meter Buchse hinten anbauen lässt. Wäre das dort dann noch genau so dass das S Meter absinkt ? Vielleicht sollte man das S Meter etwas höher einstellen damit es richtig geht wenn die Kiste warm ist ?

Kann man natürlich, im Prinzip für jede S-Stufe einzeln, auch für AM/FM und SSB getrennt. Aber wie kommst du darauf, das es 2 S-Stufen zu wenig anzeigt? Wie und womit hast du das festgestellt? Kann ich nicht nachvollziehen, habe hier mehr als ein Dutzend am Messplatz gehabt, ist sogar recht präzise, genauer als so mancher Yaesu oder Icom. Lediglich S-9 wird minimal zu wenig angezeigt. Ist aber in der Praxis völlig egal, da es nur ein paar µV sind, innerhalb üblicher Toleranzen. Alle anderen S-Werte ab S-1, auch über S-9+10, +20,+30 dB werden völlig korrekt angezeigt. Mit den kalt/warm Effekten werde ich das nächste mal beobachten, bislang ist mir das nicht aufgefallen.

@@KlausR Als Referenz habe ich die Lincoln 2 + und eine gute alte Stabo XF 4012n genommen, die alle an der gleichen Antenne hängen. Nachbarstationen, die auf Lincoln und Stabo mit S 9 ankommen, zeigen auf der George S 6 - 7. Die nächstgelegene Station (ca. 3 KM Luftlinie) kam immer mit 9+20, auf der George mit etwa 8. Der Köterberg kam mit dem Repeater S 9, auf der George knapp 8. Und wenn die Kiste richtig warm ist, geht die Anzeige nochmal 1-2 S-Stufen zurück. Wie schon geschrieben, das ist die einzige Macke an dem Gerät, alles andere ist wirklich rundum gelungen.

@@sprintiesworldtour470 Die alte Stabo hat in Bezug Empfangssignal zu S-Meter Anzeige Genauigkeitsfehler von z.T. über 200% ! Auch die veraltete Lincoln II (+) ist hier u.U. nicht viel besser. Das wird sich ab Lincoln III allerdings ändern, da sie vergleichbare aktuelle Technik wie die George II bekommt. Deine "Referenzquellen" sind also mehr als fragwürdig. Gute, gebrauchte, geprüfte und kalibrierte Messplätze von Rohde&Schwarz kannst du je nach Ausstattung für rund 2000 bis 8000€ kaufen. Damit kannst du das aussgefähig beurteilen und feststellen, ob dein S-Meter verlässlich genau anzeigt.

@@KlausR Natürlich ist das hier bei mir kein Meßplatztest gewesen, aber die Abweichung um 2 - 3 S-Stufen (12 - 18 dB) ist so krass, dass ich dafür keinen Rohde & Schwarz benötige, um die Genauigkeit zu bemängeln. Und der Rückgang nach Erwärmung beträgt auch mehr als eine S-Stufe zusätzlich. Die Referenzen Lincoln und Stabo wurden übrigens auf einem Meßplatz abgeglichen und müssten in etwa richtig anzeigen.

@@sprintiesworldtour470 Vllt solltest du besser die George als Referenz nehmen und die S-Meter in der Stabo und alten Lincoln II damit zu korregieren/danach einstellen. Wenn deine Lincoln II und Uralt Stabo angeblich am "Messplatz" eingestellt wurden, müsste sie exakt die gleichen S-Werte anzeigen wie die George. Kann ich so nicht glauben was du schreibst... ich mache das jetzt seit 50 Jahren, habe als Techniker mehr George II selbst in den Händen/am Messplatz gehabt, als du je in deinem Leben in die Finger bekommst. Und kenne natürlich auch alle Schwachstellen von Lincoln I und II(+) sowie den ganzen Stabo Kisten seit 1976/1977 (habe selbst welche)... ich weis also, wovon ich rede. 73 !

Leistung wird nicht über Service-Menü eingestellt, sondern innen über Regler. Die sind beschriftet: W13 = AM+FM Leistung W11 = SSB Leistung W6 = SSB Power-ALC (SSB Spizenleistungsbegrenzung) Mit einer kleinen Modifikation kann man die FM Leistung (bis etwa 40-50 Watt) getrennt von AM einstellbar machen, indem man die bereits ab Werk vorgesehenen SMD Teile einbaut, die aber nicht bestückt sind >bei Fragen siehe Kontaktmöglichkeit (Link in der Kanalübersicht oder wie er in anderen Videobeschreibungen angegeben ist)

Die SwitchMode Einheit selbst ist ein Elektronik-Modul. Der Rest sind SMD Bauteile, die gegen andere SMD Bauteile ausgetauscht werden.

Warum nutzt du nicht den Link für Anfragen (Kontaktformular) in der Kanalübesicht? Der ist auch im Videonachspann ersichtlich. Der Zugang zum Service-Menü ist Fachbetrieben / qualifizierten Technikern bekannt. Also für Leute, die wissen was sie tun. Es handelt sich nicht um einen Bestandteil des normalen Bedienungsmenü für Nutzer / Endkunden. ... zumal falsche Einstellungen ohne entsprechende Kenntnisse und Messmittel / Messplatz zu erheblichen Schäden und/oder zu dauerhaften Funktionsstörungen am Gerät führen. Diese Schäden sind nicht durch die Garantie abgedeckt und stellen in diesem Zusammenhang einen Fremdeingriff dar. Bei falschen / fehlerhaftnen Einstellungen können die Normalwerte auch nicht einfach über die Reset-Funktion wiederhergestellt werden, so wie es im normalen Benutzermenü bei der Funktonsauswahl jederzeit möglich ist. Sicherlich wird es dazu mal Informationen von anderen Nutzern hier auf TH-cam geben. Jedoch werden mit den Einstellungen nicht die Leistungsparameter einstellbar sein wie sie bei dem Gerät im Video zu sehen sind. Hierzu sind neben dem Abgleich über die Software weitere Hardwareänderungen erforderlich.

Drücke die PTT+F+TB und einschalten weis nicht was man aus so ein einfachen Überteuerten CB Gerät ein Geheimnis draus macht da kannst du einstellen was du möchtest es ist dein Gerät auch wenn du 60 Watt im Ausgang hast wenn ich das lese es ist nur Technikern vorbehalten jeder kann machen mit sein FuG was er will Switch Modul braucht kein Mensch interessiert niemanden mehr heutzutage wieviel Watt dein Gerät hat so ein Blödsinn. Und na klar kannst du es im Service Menü auf 60 Watt SSB/FM AM etwas weniger aber dafür kommt mehr in dem du die ALC anpasst ohne Messmittel hochdrehen und den Hub erhöhen.

​@@KlausRMan kann doch aber in der Leistungsbegrenzung auf 4 Watt oder 10 Watt stellen maximal oder man stellt die Leistungsbrgrenzung ab und hat full power. Dazu kann man ja in jedem Modi noch die Leistung von 1-10 einstellen. Aber 24.700 - 30.105 Mhz ist ein guter Frequenzbereich. ⚡

Hello the video is 7 years old it's a 6110 of the first generation, the switching had to be done at that time with additional electronics. the new version 6110 VOX can do this from factory it only needs to set a jumper. you get low, mid, hi simply via the menu

Video shows the CRT 2000, not 2000H ! Radios have different firmware programming For the UK channels with 2000H you can use the VFO function or use the programming software and simply save the UK CH / frequencies

You CAN put the CRT2000H 'back' to UKFM40 via the menu system. 1. Turn it off 2. FUNC, P6 and ON push all and hold until a menu appears 3. Use rotary knob to select CB FREQ, then push in the rotary knob and hold and it will reset to CB Freq's. 4. Turn it off 5. FUNC, P1 and ON push all and hold until a menu appears 6. Use rotary knob to select U BAND, then push in the rotary knob and hold and it will reset to CB Freq's. 7. Now on your radio display one of your P buttons will have MOD (mode) - when you push this P button for MOD, your mode will now cycle between UK (FM40), U (EU CB band), AM (EU CB band). Your BND (band) selector key will now show ERROR as you've programmed it back to EU and UK CB radio and away from the 25-30 Mhz bands. You will no longer have Bands A-J etc. Just UK/EU FM and EU AM. You will also lose the ability to select POWER 4/10/40 and it will reset to standard 4w.

@@pilgrimoutdoors-uk6177 Thanks for the reply. I have the software for this. I think I removed the extended part and I was thinking of putting it back. I asked the shop where I purchased it how to do this and they refused point blank to give me thi=e information. Any ideas??

@@malstanding By "the extended part" do you mean the UK 40 frequencies on one of the bands along with all the other bands? (so in the setup - it would be HF frequency bands selected as opposed to CB bands) If that is what you mean, i'm not sure. The shops usually program the UKFM onto a band and I would presume they do it with the software. Mine is 'back' in the legal UK and EU 80 channels now. If you have the software, does it not enable you pick a band (A SS low for instance)and simply replace the 40 frequencies with the UK 40 frequencies? I thought this is how the shops did it.
