May 26 2024 update. Please keep in mind that I'm just making these video's mostly so I can look back at them, and if I can help anyone out in the process, that would be great. The peas I grew are Lincoln peas, and the cucumbers are Beit alpha . If you post a question and I don't respond, it's just because TH-cam didn't notify me. Gardening has become my passion and I'm more than happy to discus...

The best way to epoxy jig heads?
มุมมอง 196ปีที่แล้ว
Is this the best way? I think so, I believe it's the fastest for sure. I forgot to mention I purchased the epoxy at Barlow's Tackle. I recommend you only use this epoxy outdoors. It's very strong smelling.Thanks for watching and keep those lines tight!

    New viewer here. That is an awesome idea putting the pvc pipe around your young plants. My okra starts are getting eating up, I may have to try that. 👍🏻

      @OSKG2023 I use my pvc rings every year. I start my okra indoors because they used to die as seedlings when it rained a lot. Thanks for watching.

    Did you ever make a video on the water pump to your rainwater tanks?

    • @kansasgardener5844

      No, but I should as I just rebuilt it, and now I have low pressure. It's a sureflow water pump. I might buy a different brand with more flow. Maybe I will make a video this weekend.

    Our beans seem to be a favorite of the local Dove population. They'll nip them off when they're very young, so we cover them up with chicken wire for the first couple weeks. Once they get bigger the Doves seem to leave them alone. Your garden looks real nice.

    You need to buy Borax. In a jar with holes in the lid, add 1 Tablespoon of sugar, 4 Tablespoons of Borax and 3 Tablespoons of water. Mix it well. Make several of these. Lay the jars on their sides throughout the garden. They will eat the substance and die. They also carry it back to the nest to kill other ants in the colony.

    I have been looking for something hard enough to help keep the powdercoat from chipping on my walleye jigs. We jig and bounce them off rocky bottoms and the powder coat paint starts chipping after the first cast.. I use glitter powder coat and wondering if it will dull the glitter any?

    • @kansasgardener5844
      @kansasgardener5844 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Never use glitter on them. I would doubt it. I tried to use powder paint clear after the main color but as you know it chips. This is the best clear coat I have found. Use in well ventilated area. I go outside. Good luck!

    Avoid the chemo and use Containers or above the ground bed. If you still want to grow in the ground, the deal with the ants before you plant, that takes a long time.

    Good morning sir. not related to this video but wanted to reach you somehow. I'm sorry... I inadvertently deleted your comment on one of my videos while I was trying to click on reply and TH-cam does not have an "undo" option. You mentioned you had a bad experience with the Taurus tx22. Magazine issues and barrel not good and would not buy again. May I ask what the issues with the magazine were and why is the barrel junk? I'm very interested to hear if you don't mind typing again. Thank you

    Bring your pepper plants inside this fall when leaves begin failing, chop 'em back a bit, store in above freezing up to 50-ish degree basement or garage. Water lightly about 3 or 4 times over winter and in March start giving them more light and water. Put them outside when warm enough. You will have peppers in May. Okra and Eggplant too if you have the room. They are all perennials. Pepper plants actually make very lovely house plants all year with enough light.

    Just found your channel. The garden looks great. I would love to use pea gravel, but that is crazy expensive in Florida as you can imagine - there aint to rocks down here. I also really like to the PVC frames for bed covers - are they glued or just slid together? I gardened on a small scale up until about 8 or so years ago. Life and work just got in the way. Hope to get a fall garden in the ground this year using raised beds. I subscribed to follow along in your journey. If you get a chance, check out our small family homestead in NE Florida and consider subscribing. Thanks and good video.

    It's 'leaf spot' caused by bacterial infection. Each spot is where a spore has landed.

    • @kansasgardener5844
      @kansasgardener5844 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      How do you control it?

    • @HILUXCHAINSAW
      @HILUXCHAINSAW 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kansasgardener5844 You could try spraying with a copper based fungicide. But to be honest it doesn't really diminish the plants cropping potential that much. It can make the cucumbers unsightly with raised lumps some times but that should be a problem unless you're selling them.

    Has this been a yearly problem for potatoes? In the future I would suggest using Amdro Fire Ant Killer. It is a bait type pesticide that the ants will actively bring down into the nests killing the reproductive queens. Sevin will kill the ants that come into contact with it, but that ends there and nothing is brought down below. They may not be the red imported fire ant (not likely in KS) but Amdro is successful with various ants, including harvester ants.

    • @kansasgardener5844
      @kansasgardener5844 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I only tried growing them once because the ants killed them all. I grew okra last year and had ants also. I used Ortho bait stations and they worked really well. They are small brown or black ants. Thanks for the tip.

  • @TheCoastlander
    @TheCoastlander 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have the same problem with beans here in southwest KS, definitely going to give this a try. Thanks!

    ATTN Channel creator. I have about six or Seven cucumber plants arranged in a circle around a post in my garden one of them is extremely healthy and taller than the others. It has darker leaves and is growing more rapidly then the rest. The others are also healthy but just a little bit smaller and have leaves that are noticeably lighter green than the big one. Any insight?

    • @kansasgardener5844
      @kansasgardener5844 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @kansasgardener5844

      Could be your lighter green plants are not getting as much nitrogen.

  • @beckyrfugate6878

  • @kansasgardener5844
    @kansasgardener5844 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Possibly leaf spot but it didn't really affect the cucumbers. It seems like every year I get something new this year it was powdery mildew. But once again my cucumbers are fine. I guess if it doesn't directly affect the cucumbers then I'm not worried about it.

    That's a pretty good sized area. How many hours to make it? My garden is still flat on ground, and has about a 5 degree slop towards a corner. But, since I wasn't worried about it being too flat the rain either gets absorbed or drains.

    Your plants lacking of magnesium and nitrogen. See that yellow patches. Its lack of magnesium and you should use epsom salt. You leaves look dark green but for a month old cucumber tree they are too small. Apply some urea. Urea supplies the best nitrogen content anf would magnify the effects of your other fertilizers. Dilute in water and pour into the soil. You could spray urea onto the leaves if you like. Try small amount first. Repeat when necessary until you get the best result.

  • @kansasgardener5844
    @kansasgardener5844 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    I sprayed the plants with Epsom salt water daily and I'm happy to say the plants are now green and healthy. The yellow leaves are still yellow but all the new growth is doing great. They are probably about 3 times bigger now.
