HOWTO: Setting up the Studio for Portraits
มุมมอง 258 หลายเดือนก่อน
Chris P shows how to configure the studio at the MakerSpace for taking portraits. How to place lights, backdrops and reflectors I would like to apologise for the sound quality, as Chris mentions in the video we didn't have a chance to rehearse and the microphone was placed next to the laptop. Also, after the camera battery died, I couldn't get the video perfectly synched.
Running AI at Home (remade)
มุมมอง 1489 หลายเดือนก่อน
In this presentation Kevin used the computer he'd built previously to try a number of AI techniques. This is a remake of “Running AI at Home” published as th-cam.com/video/qEb6h5OIWbI/w-d-xo.html. During the actual presentation the screen capture failed for all the action on the remote machine (and the two cameras filming also had a range of issues). In the first version we tried to use a hand-...

Ooooh this is neat and I have no idea how it popped up in my algo. Was it a coincidence that the colors and relationships mirror the pokemon starter trio

    That was an outstanding video. Hats off. But why does it work... Let's show it as a matrix: red = (0, 3, 1, 0, 0, 2) blue = (1, 0, 2, 2, 0, 1) green = (2, 0, 0, 1, 3, 0) So in reduced row echelon form it's: 1, 2, 0 0, -6, 0 0, 0, 2 0, 0, 0 0, 0, 0 0, 0, 0 Huh, that's interesting. So the determinant of the rank 3 matrix is -12 and there are three eigenvalues! -6, 2 and 1. And there's your explanation. Amazing. So if I've done the maths right the eigenvectors are (-2, 7, 0), (0, 0, 1) and (1, 0, 0). Simple as that. How cool is that?

I've played for the past six days now on Metazooa, & after a bunch of practice rounds I've found that going a bird first is what helped me. I was not aware of the mink being slightly better. I've been too stubborn to use the hint at all, but I always struggle when I get a a bird or fish, so I'll probably start using this strategy of using a hint in Neognathae. Great video!

Where can I get an astrolabe that is this elaborate? Mine is useful but this thing is like a 2200 Y/O TI-84 compared to mine. 😂

The versions shown here were mainly from astrolabeproject.com, the complicated Rete was generated using star catalogues, a little bit of maths and a whole load of graphics editing.

Really helpful presentation. I hadn’t realised just how much PC design had moved on since I made my current one (incidently also from Novatech). I suggest this is essential viewing before you are tempted to ‘exercise” the plastic in your wallet.

A really good idea... except experience of using this cookie cutter with real dough led me to the realisation that having the "cutter" and "stamp" in a single object is not optimal (bits of cookie often get stuck in the cutter). It is actually better to have a circular cutter and a seperate stamper, in which case you could have a library of cutters with different shapes and stampers to impress the cookie with different designs.
