The Boundary Paradox
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 11 มิ.ย. 2021
We have made a deeper connection with the wild places of the world and sharing those experiences with the people we love. Come along, see our heart, and share in our journeys. You can do it too.
To discover unknown. Where we stand, common courage and the average man are both laughable yet ever present in our humanity. Where boundaries are crossed, yet figments of imagination. The paradox echoes!

In the Winter of 2023 I head down to far southern New Mexico to help some good friends with hard-to-get tags track down the elusive desert mountain Coues Deer. One of these is my buddy's cousin, Curtis, that is a Veteran and trying to tag his first big game animal ever. It's an awesome opportunity that got us all excited. With limited knowledge of these deer I offer another set of binos as we t...

I have the exact gun and caliber under 1/2 moa with factory federal ammo it's topped with a z6 swarovski and a custom muzzle brake I want to stretch mine out also. Nice shooting
@@Matt-en1kn they shoot well! I tried some federal terminal ascent and really wanted it to shoot well but it didn’t unfortunately. The nosler accubond long range are humming though! Thanks for watching!

@@NorthernMtnlife bow hunting or rifle?
@@theboundaryparadox both
@@NorthernMtnlife if you hike out, I would suggest staying around happy valley and to the south. We went in around Franklin bluffs and it’s a nightmare.
Amazing how I'll be looking at some fascinating desolate place in Google Maps, blurry photos last updated in 2011, and a quick search on youtube finds the perfect underrated video covering it. Awesome stuff, cheers from south america
Thanks for watching! Appreciate it.
I was also wondering if they assigned you a area or is it first come to spots on the wildlife refuge for elk
I drew for a cow hunt January. Looking forward to it!
Congratulations. Thanks for watching and good luck!
What caliber did you use and how far of a shot
For the elk hunt I used a 270 and took the cow at about 80 yards
Dec 16-20
Plenty of elk. Dont think you have to go deep all the time. Get a vantage point and spend time glassing. Use the wind. They will sit tight in the cover.
Hi there I have some ?s about your elk hunt on the Wichita mountain refuge. I was drawn for cow walk in this yr any advice and or location
Hey Quinton. Thanks for tuning in. What dates did you draw? I’ll tell you that that place is crawling with elk and I shot mine late in the day on the first day less than a mile away from the road surrounded by hunters. They will hold up in any oak scrub bottoms they can find to get out of the heat and eat acorns if any are left.
Awesome video!!
Love the video! That desert landscape is beautiful. Crazy how those deer disappear out there!
Дуже гарно

Hats off to you guys for toughing it out. Coming from AK 5 miles on the tundra is no joke.
Looking back, I think some areas are drier than others. If I had to do it again I’d probably go in a bit further south and risk a bigger creek crossing. Priceless experience is hard earned haha thanks for watching.
I shoot sunday, 4/21/24. Cant wait to get there.
Wish we could’ve made it this year. Have a blast!
You have an addiction my dear son in-law
Love the music excitement
What does he mean by long?
If you’re referencing the comment on the front pocket it’s fairly long… easily accommodate the largest of spotters etc.

Wow! Congrats and a great hunt. I'm headed to POW for a my first black bear hunt in May -- super excited!
Good luck to you! Thanks for watching.
omg - incredible wrong riding - go and take some lessons until there is time to do it!
I think we really need to do a better job as a community to real in our range to what would be considered ethical. If that first shot was not too high, it was stated to be too far back as well. If you miss on both axis, either there should be a mechanical explanation, or an ethical reassessment. It is a great video and I am constantly working through my own perspective dilemmas on what is ethical and what is not, but the hunting community is really pushing the envelope on range, without the necessary dialogue on ethics.
*reel* For starters, you aren’t wrong. But as far as this video goes and trip in general I’ll say that there are multiple factors that plagued accuracy with a bow. First, I had some issues with my release and sight. Many know after traveling things can happen and you also saw us checking equipment. I made an adjustment at that point and it just wasn’t right. The other factors were environmental. With the wind being what it was it was a shot I was comfortable with in practice and similar conditions but whether it was a broadhead partially opening etc. I’m just not sure. The arrow didn’t go where I thought it would. The important thing is that I was prepared for that range and frequently shoot those ranges. Between multiple TAC events a year and being a member of an archery club where I shoot 80+ frequently, I feel comfortable… that’s also animal specific for me.
@@theboundaryparadox It's probably also worth noting that those action cameras make animals appear much further away than they are. Over the years I have developed a bit of a personal constitution that if I miss or wound an animal, even if I kill an animal quickly but the shot placement wasn't what I wanted; it was my fault. At the end of the day, it can only be our fault. Control what you can. I didn't get to this conservative mindset on my personal views of ethical shots because I always made good ones, but rather because I have, like most of us, made a bad shot or two in my time. Again, amazing video! I'm just really in a phase of being extra critical of shots now that the long distance trend with bows and rifles has gained so much popularity.
🦍
What is glassing?
Glassing is a term for the action of looking for something across the landscape through optics such as binoculars or spotting scopes.
You guys ride like a bunch of reckless assholes.
PROBLEMS WITH UV SLIDER and its warranty; my slider arrived from the manufacturer with the two middle screws loose on the gear track and the plastic track having a distortion where the middle screws had been tightened; this means you either have screws that back out and contact the slider or a slider that will bind and be hard to slide due to the distortion caused by the screws. It was discovered within the first 20 shots when one screw backed out and wouldn't allow the slider to slide. I contacted UV within my trial period, and they refused to exchange it, they required me to pay to ship it back for repair. Upon receipt they agreed the gear track was the problem and replaced it and then held my UV Slider hostage until i paid a $15 repair fee. When I stated this was a warranty item caused by a manufacturing defect and i received it this way, they said the UV Slider does not come with the same warranty everything else does (which is not mentioned anywhere on their website, the website says all products come with a 1-year 100 percent warranty). I've been a HUGE UV fan and have always been treated well by them and never had a problem with any of their products until now. It is my opinion that if you don't stand behind the product to be free from a manufacturing defect then you shouldn't be selling it especially for this price point, and if the UV Slider does not come with a warranty, then you need to state this up front or train your support staff, so consumers who have legit problems with defects are treated better. I also requested to talk to someone on the phone multiple times and as of the time of writing this never received a call. I fully support that this is a new product that may have some unexpected problems they need to work out and I would have no issues with UV needing to make some changes/repairs to resolve it... but i expected them to stand behind it and fix it w/o telling me it doesn't have a warranty like their other products and i have to pay to fix it. Ironically, I received an email asking for a product review which stated they want honest reviews even if bad so they could improve. I had asked for a supervisor to call me so i could share my experience w/o going public but nobody called. I'm going to post this in a few places hoping it will get to someone more senior in the organization in case their customer service is not sharing how they are handling problems such as mine.
A lot of people scoff at that price but don’t even know the very precise tuning and simplicity of the sight. Cracks me up.
Thats going to be us one day protecting our kill so our family and love once can survive. Godgotus 🫶

Have it on my rvx 34, the thing is sexy
Heard it’s very nice but pretty heavy.
@theboundaryparadox not at all, shot mathews for 20 years and made the change due to the small things that make a difference to a longer season hunter. But there's multiple companies for a reason, it's what each individual hunter needs in their gear to have a successful hunt
😂😂😂😂
What Boots do you recommend?
Something gortex but don’t go too heavy. I don’t think there is a way to stay dry where we were either way.
I have it on my Phase 4 ...I would do it again.

Absolutely abysmal riding!
Way to think of your dad… you’ll have plenty of other hunts. Would you do this hunt again? Would you change anything the way you did it? I’m gonna do this hunt in 2025 planning now. How bad would that 5 mile hike to rifle land suck? Any advice?
I would do it again and yes it sucks. But paying thousands for a ride is worse IMO. We would probably hike out at a different location that holds less water. We were near Franklin Bluffs and it starts to get real wet. Connect with me on Insta and we can talk over the phone if you’d like!
