The way you can tell the villain is the villain (other than the tragic backstory and title obv) is that they keep repeatedly bringing up themselves and literally say "what about me" which shows their selfishness and self centered tendencies that you would see in a villain

(Y’all know the “I would sacrifice my lover” trend? K) The hero and villain were once lovers, promising each other to care for each other. Before the hero sacrificing the villain for a mission (ig?). After a while in isolation, the villain lost feelings for the hero and started embracing the twisted side of them. Until the hero came back to the villain to talk (the whole song is the talk) as the hero tried to reconnect the love between them the talk (song) slowly because threats (And after 1:35 the lyrics switched to match the true sides of them)

I feel like what happened here was that they were children, childhood friends. The hero has been trying to help everyone, they have the world on their shoulders that they didn’t have time to save the villain when the villain needed the hero the most. The hero feels extremely guilty (probably has lots of survivor guilt) and terrible that they weren’t able to save the villain. They probably put all the blame on their self. I also feel like the hero doesn’t understand fully what the villain feels just like how the villain doesn’t understand the hero, the villain doesn’t understand that the hero was just a kid really trying to save everyone since the villain was probably too self absorbed. But really nobody can save everyone, they’re just humans after all. Overall they were just 2 broken kids, forced to grow up too early. (This is just my theory and thought. Honestly I like this idea I might write a story about it-)

here what i think happened with the hero and the villain: they were once friends or partners but the villain ran away and started to become a villain and the hero has been trying to find them and then now it's the song

Ok but the way i view this is that the villain was once the hero's lover and had a very bad past where people hurt them,but now the hero is just waving it off and is instead taking the side of those who once hurt their lover before to keep their reputation and people are now seeing the villain as a awful person thinking they are spreading lies to hurt the "hero" so the they left and now has returned as the "villain" and now the "hero" is trying to convince them to go back together.The "hero" regrets it very much but the "villain" doesn't believe them since even when they came back people are still talking bad about them realizing that even after they left not once has the "hero" actually tried to protect their honor. And the *little girls* are actually the villain trying to say that not once has the "hero" actually tried to protect them.
