MK1 Cabriolet Project - Engine Removal

In this video, I remove the engine from the car! You will see in the video that I forgot to record the most important part, apologies for that. I also noticed the wrist strap for the camera swings in the frame a couple of times, that won't happen again. Constructive criticism is welcomed. Thank you brother
So I'm curious what happened to the car. Did you ever finish the project?
I prefer to see doing what you do while you explain
So what’s up with the car now ?
Great job 🤙
Is it possible to remove the rack and pinion with out removing the engine. Are the inner tie rod connections to the rack and pinion left or right hand turn?
I like when you explain what's happening. Awesome content, Helped me n bunch. I think people come to channels like this to learn how to do it themselves. so to follow you under the vehicle and actually, see how it needs to be done. Don't mind the music. it's a little distracting to focus on the video. But most importantly this video helped me with what I needed to know. Thank you, Dude
I have an 87 Cabriolet, and have rebuilt the dash, heater controls and now have to pull the heather core to replace a blown heather hose at the firewall. It's a PITA
the soundtrack is brutal, good explanation though
Have my dash tore apart and will not come out, I did mention dash might be attached to the knee bar, looks like that dash has been out before. How do you get to those screws
I need a motor for my 86
When will we see the new engine I don't see any video of it on the playlist?
What the name/author of the red book you keep referring to?
What's the part number for the tensioner bracket at the very bottom - its the second thing you removed?
@Invizion is there going to be anything in the near future?
Did this get sold, don't look like anything new. Just seeing where car ended up.
Still being used. Pulling ours to drop in 24v vr6. Started with dash and motor tonight. Hoping car is ready mid March for almost 4k me round trip.
Hi buddy, I have the EXACT same car here in the UK (left hand drive too - German import) with the 2H digifant 1.8 8v engine. I'm planning on rebuilding the motor this winter...
Dónde puedo conseguir la tela para esos asientos ? Sin igual a los míos
explanation is good, but prefer to see you doing the work. music is good. subtle and not too loud. main thing is to hear what you are saying.
where you at now you lazy punk ...........
Have you got a video on installing stereo? Picked up a mk1 jetta last month and I'm not sure what stereo I can put in.
I am building a cab. subbed
Air-con.,..?? On a mk1 Golf/Rabbit...??
#RenewableRevolution Love this.
Well when the pipe wrench showed up I was done!
Good gob 🤗😍😍😍😍
Hey. By any chance do you have any of the AC/Heat part still im In AZ Ac is life. Thanks good luck on the build.
Great video. Just bought an 84 convertible rabbit, and the Odometer counts intermittently. Speedo/gas gauge/oil gauge all operational. Have you seen or heard of issues with the odometer sticking?
I want to swap my mk1 dash with a 1999 cabrio dash.think this will be an easy one?
99 is MK3, different platform all together. I've seen it done, it's possible, I don't think it would be easy though
Thanks for this! I am working on an 87’ cabriolet and the light is out at the oil pressure gauge. Thanks again!
Same here. It's wild, removing the dash to remove the kneebar to remove the center console to replace a light. I'm definitely refitting with LEDs.
:)
Hi bro, I am from Costa Rica. I have a mk1 rabbit diesel and It has a power steering rack, why are you going to change it to a manual steering? I really like your video because I need to rebuild it, it is loosing oil, but I would prefer if you put in the video all te process, it is really interesting
Hey man! Unfortunately I'm not putting videos up anymore. I removed the power steering because it wasn't working and I wanted to clean up the engine bay. I deleted the reservoir and lines
Your music are great man keep them : D
I like seeing you doing the work :D
get a good used running engine that is cheap . luckly same engine you can find in cabriolet, jettas or golf
Hi from the UK. Great work on the videos. I just got a '92 cab as well, so I'll be following your progress.
I like seeing you doing the work
Thanks for this! Working on an 82 ABA swapped Cabby and the wiring is jacked so I need to get the dash out.
Very simple! Thanks man 😃
Hey man, how and what did you remove to ditch the hvac stuff?
I disconnected and blocked off the coolant lines going to the heater core, all the ac lines, compressor and condenser. Then I removed the heater core itself along with the entire assembly to direct air, it's a big black plastic box behind the center console and the stuff under the hood under the rain tray. I also removed the ducts going to the vents.
Hi, nice videos. I do like your explanations, but I would also like to see you work on your car too (even if it is a timelapse and maybe realtime when finding a problem like in the engine teardown video.). Music doesn't bother me. I'm in the middle of doing the opposite, manual to power steering, I think I might be missing the gear linkage thing.
Yoo dude are you living in Ontario!
Yessir! I'm in Ottawa
Invizion ahh right on im closer to Toronto!
What motor wiil you use. I have mk1 cabriolet with 2.0 aba block and 8v head cylinder.I recommend to you.
I ended up dropping in the same 1.8 8v, just with alot less mileage
How much was the machining going to cost on the original stock engine ?
I was quoted at a minimum 1700$ CAD, assuming no other issue were found. I bought the engine and two trans plus a box full of random parts for 300$. All in, this winter I spent about 1600$ to get it on the road again.
@@invizion4993 Do what i did back in 1992... swap in a 3A engine from an Audi 80. Almost a drop in 2.0 litre replacement. Another more common option would be the 2.0 litres used in the Mk3 Jetta/Golf. Just use the head from one of the older motors like the JH you already have.
Thanks from Italy
The music is cool. Either video style is fine I guess. I do like how you are explaining it. Helps me before I try and do anything crazy. I’ve got to ask, I know you pulled your engine a little while ago. How many miles did that engine have on it? Just curious about miles to wear ratio.
Hey man! Thanks alot for the feedback. It had right around 300k kms, so about 186k miles
Thank you for those videos. I have a Cabbi "like yours" and I am rebuilding it but I have some cuestions. Could you send your Email adress?
Of course! Shoot me an email at invizion.automotive@gmail.com I'll do my best to help you out!
Post more vids!
Hey thanks for reaching out! I plan on posting more very soon. I've been busy taking weekend college classes, but I'm done this week. My weekends will be free again and back to working on cars :)
Invizion sweet man! Looking at picking up a cabrio project 1990
@@juliusgovers772 Thats awesome! If you have any question feel free to PM me! :)
Hey man. I appreciate the video. One question. I have the dash completely loose. It is getting stuck where the vents were. Feels really tight. Any clue what could be holding it?
Hey! Do you have the vents out? Maybe the ducts are caught on the vents.
The side vents are loose. It is the center vent area that is stuck. I removed those. It feels rock solid tight. I didn't see anything that would be keeping it from coming out.
@@peelingtime2518 It could possibly be the heat controls. They're two screws I believe that hold it to the dash. It could also be screws underneath the dash, right where above the kneebar. They can be abit of a pain to get to
