Killer Drum Fill Using the Herta Rudiment
Great job playing and teaching while keeping everything understandable!
Pantera -becoming but on the kick 😮
Nice clear explanation of how to do this rudiment. The Herta really makes the weaker hand work in a way that other patterns and rudiments don’t. Essentially it’s a single-stroke four.
Nice, dude! Just learning jazz and will give that a go at tomorrows jam.
awesome! Great lesson! Thanks!
Best Herta Video
Bat country anyone ?
Van Halen’s “Hot For Teacher” uses the Herta during the intro.
Sure not one of the NARD Standard Rudiments….
I count: 1-uh-let, 2-uh-let, 3-uh-let. Love hearing how people count their subdivisions
Bruce Becker!! ...PEACE!
Dream theater - a fortune in lies
Trying to learn these without sticks and I end up accidentally switching hands based on what I’m hitting, just out of weird habits I guess. Making it consistent timing at different speeds gets crazy. Yes I am learning Meshuggah lol
Holy crap, I didn't know it had a name. I learned this from Jordan Burns from Strung Out before I even started rudiments. He'd use it in a ton of fills, implementing the kick between the snare. This is my favorite pattern.
This was really easy to follow until you started on the 4 stroke I felt like you sped up the demo and explanation and got lost 😖
yeppp, this is what I need. thank you so much! God bless you
The whole thing is single stroke am I wrong?
OK but, just play it with single strokes.
am I crazy or are there 6 downbeats in a 4/4 metre in the notation? Im confused Edit: I see now the accents are the begin of a new paradiddle! Was a bit confused.
I’m a sucker for herta 😢
Thanks for sharing. Very helpful.👍🤗
"... and our flag was still there" so much bullshit...
I've got this issue now. Trying to play Tom Petty's Won't Back Down and there are quick G to C changes. The problem I have and I can hear it here- the Cadd9 does not sound even close the the open C chord. You are basically skipping the C chord.
The Cadd9 can indeed sound a bit different. For some songs, it might not fit perfectly, but it's a good alternative if that open C is just not possible yet. If the open C is really the only option here, try learning to play the G with this fingering to help the transition to C: images.app.goo.gl/qJZFC9WHxK9W975p6
🎉🎉🎉!(+++)
Im only 2min into this video but your experience sounds very similar to mine. Im just on the cusp of reversing a decade of every kind of tendinitis, carpal tunnel, and a hand "deformity" all in my left arm. I agree with the usage of the soft fulcrum, and in my case I had to play very slow and softly with all my fingers forced into the correct position, and allowing the stick to bounce. I had to relearn french grip (good because of external rotation of the forearm/wrist) and practice freestroke. As well as some bounces similar to you here. Wish I had found this video much earlier
We’re all here for Meshuggah huh
Want to learn Bleed by Meshuggah. It led me here.
Very powerful video
Very nice video!!! 🥲
You’ve got such a minimal drumset lol, thank you for all this
The best rudiment imo
I believe the two stroke is not a tap. It's downstroke and upstroke. No tap.
Yeah. Playing Bleed hertsalot. yeah I know i know. probably saw this joke somewhere, years ago.
I don't think you were following that sheet music at the beginning lol
Tried to buy your Moeller course, but I can’t. It says you have to login, but there’s no place for a person to sign up for a new login. There is an existing login, but no new logins.
Hi Shaun, here is the link to the product page to buy the course: musiprof.com/product/moeller-technique-online-course/
I am not sure why the login page didn't have a buy button on your end. I see it when I go to this page: musiprof.com/product/moeller-technique-online-course/ and press take this course. Let me know if you are still unable to access it. Best
BLEED!
Great, now play meshuggah - bleed :D
I’m here to play no one knows
Same ! It’s the only part left 😢

For a moment I thought you were covering Meshuggah.
Thank u bro
This video is DI BEST!! THANKS A LOT!!
Just wondering... my Notion of a control stroke is to close hand so tip ends flat and close to the head... purpose being it's loud strike that preceeds a quiet one. your version of control looks like a caught rebound...🤔 is it a different school of thought on this matter?
Worked beautifully. In minutes. Thanks🎉
Great lesson. Thanks so much!
Way easier to hear and play in cut time
This made it so easy, thanks
This is definitely Billy Cobham style but, he does it with his hands where Tomas Haake does it with his feet….😳
I used the herta in a bass drum pattern during a song my band recorded 10 years ago and just now learned that I played hertas incorrectly. This should make it easier to play. Thanks!
