There are tons of videos out there with suggestions on how to get a lighter backpack. I've thru-hiked several longer trails and have worked in the past to reduce every possible ounce from my base weight. However, here I'm showing three items that I've added to my pack that improve my enjoyment of the trail enough that they are well worth the added weight.
