This is how you can check the oil while the engine is running on a Freestyle or 500 the transmissions are identical from 05 to 07. I forgot to mention in the video that you will have to have the engine at operating temperature so go out for a good drive with the vehicle prior to checking and topping up the fluid.

How to change out the high pressure filter in the transmission obviously I did mine outside of the vehicle which makes it a lot easier but the process is still the same inside the car it just makes it more difficult with less room. The original filters have steel ends and the new filter from Ford have composite ends.

@dttach3d set up has been very good so far, haven't gone to the dino yet. The versa tuner is frustratingly slow, might upgrade to the motec plug and play ecu.
@@tigiteasygarage9052 Cool, haltech's have pretty good support for rotarys but I haven't really looked into motec ecu's. Once you get it tuned/dyno'd you should make an update video

Does 3/8 pvc vinyl pipe goes to fill valve? Fill valve looks very small in video. Is 3/8 internal diameter or outside one ?

You can put it on a scale and push on the piston until it moves, keep your eye on what the weight the scale shows you. That will give you an approximate psi. At idel the car was at 19 psi and now it's at 28 psi, 75 psi at higher rpm
Works great, removing the plastic peace is the hardest part, little fucker was tougher than nails to break off but I got it and everything’s working perfectly
Just an FYI for anyone watching this. The measure the amount that came out probably won’t result in a failure but it is NOT the right way to do it. You fill it on a level surface until it overflows. Then once it stops overflowing you put the plug in. That is why it has a drain and fill plug arranges the way it is. This is how all non dipstick transmissions work.
I've been seeing alot of these with transmission failure around the 150k-200k miles mark, might wanna replace that transmission fluid even sooner than what the owner's manual calls for 🤷♂ kind of like the case with the 2010-2015 Toyota Prius. Toyota said: change engine oil every 10k miles. Result: bad piston rings
If the car was made before a certain date in 2016 then every single one of them have a defective transmission in them. If you are going to buy a used one you need to make sure it’s a 17/18 or a late 16 with the newer transmission. If buying a 13-16 you’ll want to ensure that the transmission has already failed. Either buy one with a bad transmission or one that failed late 2016 or later and has the new transmission in it. All 13-15 transmission will eventually fail especially if they are in an Energi and the driver uses EV mode a lot. Also even with a 2017 trans. If you are using EV mode a lot or live in the south you need to change the fluid every 60-100k. Same with towing.
@@MrGivmedew I saw a 2013 CMAX with over 500k miles on here, the owner claims it has the original engine and transmission. I've seen a few comments that say Ford improved the design through 2017 or newer.
I have a 17 and love this car.. 145k miles.. and i tow 1400 pounds w it.. 1000 pound 1000cf moto and the trailer 400 pounds.. 30 muns each way.. on the highway i do 60 mph max and get mids 30s for mpg.. im almost considering buying a second one.. everyone ive met w this car loves it .
Best car I’ve owned and I’ve had a Volt, i3 REx and Bolt. Mine is an Energi which is nice because I get about 5000 EV miles a year. We might buy a 2nd and if we do it will like be a Hybrid so we have the extra stowage.
I bought a 2015 with 197k miles 20 days ago. I like it so much, I bought another 2015 with 64k miles 8 days ago. I drove a Prius for years so I was blown away by how great these hybrids feel. I’m not expecting them to be Prius-reliable, but I actually look forward to driving now….
Here's another thing. I still have the original pads and rotors. I've had people when I rotate the tires. Tell me there must be something wrong with my brakes. I understand it doesn't use the pads until you get down to the last 10 mph. Is everybody else experiencing the same thing with their pads and rotors?
@@MrGivmedew same, I have a 14 hybrid for me and a 13 and 15 Energi for my two driving kids. Bought them all used and have spent very little on repairs- tie rods for the 13 at 220k and a wheel bearing for the 15 at 180k. Fun to drive and good power between the hybrid and electric motors.

Needed this today. Wow that was easy!
Just upgraded my battery to the 96R. Car works great. A lot better then when it once was. The plastic piece was quite difficult to remove with the x2 unremovable bolts attached. Took about an hour of prying but once removed some waterproof caulking applied and replacement was completed. Thank you! Only thing was the rubber tubing attached to the original battery was unable to be attached to the 96R.

Hi... i just changed throttle body on the freestyle and finally got the engine to rev, but it still won't pull. It was pulling before, but only reached about 23 mph. Any suggestions to what might cause this?

My friend has a straight cut set that needs to go in his box too, he's making 750 wheel. Problem is we can find a trans shop willing to do it. Thanks though, I appreciate the response!
Terrible advice! The PVC system is there for a reason. If you block if off you're going to have excessive crankcase pressure and cause oil leaks among other issues.
He said to block the port on the air intake that the pcv hose runs to and to install a hose running from the pcv to the atmosphere instead of the air intake to keep the intake clean. He never said to block the pcv at all. Hope this helps.

How does the mount come out that’s around the high pressure filter?
I have just bought a 2007 Ford Freestyle with 140,000 km. I think it hasn't been driving for about 10 years. Currently, the transmission can work. Should I change the transmission fluid? Or just leave it as far as it can still work.
Changing oil is cheaper than changing a transmission. On that note, preventative maintenance goes a long way. I just purchased a 2021 fore escape hybrid and the first thing I did was change all the oils in the car . I just recommend using the Ford oil for the transmission.
@@tigiteasygarage9052 Someone told me that an old car like the one I have just bought. There is a possibility that the only reason it can still work is that the "particles" inside the transmission fluid increase the friction. If I change the fluid, maybe the transmission will start to slip. That is the reason that makes it hard to make a decision.

Smaller tube from firewall to air intake also creates a vacuum. Would that not be good to remove it also to prevent gunking up Throttle Body?
Would you not want to cover the end of the tube with some cloth to filter the air? Reason to be connected to air intake is probably to get filtered air

Oooo I like this modification, thanks! I highly recommend wiring up a kill switch in the back if any of you find yourself doing your own work on your cars. Make sure to wire it between the negative on the 12V and body ground. I just relocated my ground point. Oh and try to remember to lock the car before cutting off power since the driver door is the only one with a manual lock. Also, have any of you met an actual human that seems to be confident and knowledgeable of the anomaly that is the C-max? I haven't and decided to up my mechanic skills. It's been quite the learning experience and have quickly come to the conclusion that Ford really must not care so much about putting vehicles on the market with such illogical design choices that would make Spock's head explode. I keep wanting to like the car and then it's yet another problem. Pretty sure my 2013 could be classified as a face puckering lemon! 😂
You stated ford recommends changing the fluid at 240K? I think that’s wrong. My manual states 150K. At least for a 2014 model
