Oh my goodness, you could be my sister!!!❤❤❤❤
Thanks for the Video. Good points. One recommendation is to have your volume up. Its hard to hear you. Keep going.
They’re sneaky now and make you give a credit card to book the appointment. If you book the appointment, you will get charged. 😢
I'm sure this was a great video but you was talking too slow and low for me. Great video tho
@@DawnnAyeshaVance hahaha yea I probably was. I usually do 2x speed when I watch other people’s videos.
I never liked this cut. I always felt like it wasn’t a detailed precise cut.
I LOVE THIS. MOMS ARE GREAT. THEY FIND SOLUTIONS!!
@coily daries. 2 braid protective style.
Awesome explanation.
what’s going on with the hair that you left outside of the braid?
Amazing video. Empowering and helpful tips. Thank you. I'm going to ACTUALLY trim my own hair from now on. 😂 It surely cannot be as much of a miss as my experience today with a stylist who, in a country not too familiar with very naturally curly hair, surely didn't think anything different was required for my "trim" before he hacked off nearly half after a very rough and heavy wash and shampoo. I thought to say something, to bring my own shampoo but you know "let him do this thing". No. NO. Nooooo. At least I can take better care of my ends now that they're basically touching my scalp 🥲 and grow it all out without tangles... by this time next year. 💀 I'll give him some tips, maybe he'll do the research before the next person with hair like mine comes... but I won't be sitting in his hair again for at least another 12-18 months.
My points exactly.
My stylist gives thorough cuts. Never had a problem. I think experiences are different for everyone.
Your hair is beautiful
You are beautiful ❤ I love your name
PREACHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! THANK YOU! Three overpriced 'professional curl expert' Deva cuts....all needing grown out for 6 months or more as they were NOTHING that I wanted or liked. Walked into a hair studio by my house...$40.....BAM. A new stylist whom I never met and had NO specialized curl training freaking NAILED it. Needless to say, I gave her a fantastic tip. SOOOO over deva stylists. They need to get over themselves. Didn't no one ask for an overlayerd mullet, ma'am! Ugh.
subtitles please
The biggest problem is finding the hairstyles that can cut curly or wavy hair. Most only have experience trimming straight hair and cutting a different style is impossible for them even if they have been in the business for years.
I recently got the Cadō cut, and you were explaining exactly what happened to me. It looks like someone just went in and cut pieces out whatever way they want , right after I washed it, the disaster was even worse to look at. I’m still in tears.
and subtitles?!?!in english at least
Tell a cosmetology salon hair cutter to keep your wavy/curly hair length and they end up cutting off too much, and wanting body on top, never enough is done. And sometimes too much on bottom sides get made thinner instead of full big hair desired all the way around, not round balloon!
I'm glad I watched this video it gave me some more information that I needed to know.
THANK YOU!! I wish I would’ve know this 2 years ago! I paid 300 for a very disappointing haircut. My hair is so uneven and I have seriously thought about going to school to show others what we (women with curly hair) need from a stylist. I totally agree that when you get a dry cut, it’s not a true representation of how our hair looks after we wash it. So frustrating. I got my haircut in June and am having to fix it myself (by watching you tube videos) and just waiting for it to grow out again. Thank you!
tysm for this
We look like we could be sisters. Skin completion, hair, facial features lol.
What happened to you?
Well said! I love the diva cut, but the unevenness erks me coz I'm on a length retention mission and I know that its difficult to cut curly hair, even when it's wet. I wear mine curly and straight so I prefer my stylist to cut and shape my hair when i'ts straight.
Word to the wise, if you want length stay away from Hair Salons.
AWESOME. You are correct in all you said. I've had problems with stylist not being comfortable cutting textured hair. I have wavy 2c hair so different from coils for so many stylist!
I got a curly dry cut and it ended up being longer on one side than the other lol. Rip.
I have the EXACT same look. Great style
Deva cut products should be banned.
Absolutely well said !!
ALSO, it's up to us to do research. Deva stylists have 3 different levels of training but they're all just lableled "Deva certified". Make sure you find someone that's level 3, and has some years under their belt. My stylist is a level 3, has been cutting for 20yrs,10 of those Deva certified. Most stylists only do the wk long training so that they can call themselves Deva certified!
Idk. EVERY time I got my hair cut wet since going natural I ended up with a mullet(5x,5 different stylists). When my hairs cut nice & even while wet, it dries looking CRAZY 🤣 I have 3 different curl patterns. I spent about 3yrs wearing a top bun after the botched wet cuts! When I switched to just dusting the ends myself after styling, I never had a problem!
Yeah, the front of my hair is the curliest, and I do NOT like dry cuts, so this past 2 cuts I basically straighten it with a blow dryer to cut it. I tell my stylist to keep the front an inch or two longer than the back, because it ends up being the correct length when styled. I know this way 90% of my accessible ends are getting a proper trim, unlike a dry curly cut where I end up big chopping afterwards because the ends get bad SO fast and the bottom layer is always scraggly with tons of fairy knots. Don't get that when I cut it wet or dry and straight.
This is why I cut my hair at home. I don’t trust anyone anymore to touch my hair. I had one stylist for years growing up she was perfect and knew what she was doing. Then she moved sadly too far out of the way almost out of state. So I tried other people. ONLY THREE AND THEY ALL FUCKED MY HAIR UP. Never again.
If u have more than one type of curl pattern getting a dry cut doesn’t consider how those different curl patterns will look dry. If u wear ur natural hair stretched or straight getting a wet cut isn’t beneficial bc when it dries the shape won’t be the same based on ur curl patter. It sounds as if the Deva stylist needed more training. I don’t think it’s fair to judge all Deva stylist based on ur exp. I’ve had many bad stylists when I was relaxed and now that I’m not. It’s the luck of the draw when u select someone u don’t know
Wow, you are describing what I recently experienced when getting my hair cut (dry) at a curly hair salon. The shape is terrible, uneven and layers in the back are really not something that suits the texture I have back there. And I paid 120€!😑 I’ve never had this issue going to a non-curly place. Now I have to wait for that part to grow before I can get it fixed!
Water if it is hard can buildup as well. But I agree water should be the main source of hydration.
I ended up getting a rezo cut. And I was really disappointed, I had hair to mid back and bc it was cut dry it still looked like it was long. But when she styled my hair it was up to my shoulders, I was confused like huhh. Also the dry cutting left the bottom of my hair frizzy / split ends. Im not doing that again, I’ll just continue cutting my own hair like I’ve be doing in the past !!
The problem is, NO ONE has put the time in to accommodate our hair, including some Black hair stylist. No matter who I choose, I have to teach that person how section my hair before applying color, how to rinse my hair, how to detangle my hair, and how to style my hair. When rinsing, she just ran the water over the top. It never reached my scalp. I'm going to have to teach her how to get under the curls with the sprayer. It just requires the utmost patience and it's exhausting to me. If I could apply permanent color to my own gray hair, I would NEVER go to a salon. It's sad to not have a place to go for good hair care.
My hair is very curly underneath and not as curly on top, dry cutting has helped my hair not look shorter underneath....as a stylist I do a full.consultation, and an extremely thorough haircut dry, and if wet needed as well. I have the client come in washed and how they style their most of the time. Diffused or air dried whichever they do the most. I'll do a 10 to 20.munute consultation, cut dry, wash, style how they wear it most of the time either dried under dryer( less volume and shrinkage) or diffused 100% then go back through my haircut. I don't cut any currier than a 3c. I am not confident enough and will turn them to someone else because I know how important a good haircut is.
No disrespect but in my experience, pig tails cause more damage than good. Having to pull the fragile hairs from your edges and nape towards the side of your head is too harsh. You need more braids because if your parts are half your head, your pulling everything towards a center point and most people use a hair tie or rubber band to secure the pigtail before its braided. The rubber band is going to be pulling those hairs near your part and around the edges of your hairline too hard, compared to the hair in the middle of your braid which isn't being pulled because you're applying the hair tie parallel to those strands. Also, I haven't found a way to sleep with my hair wrapped up so even with a satin pillow case, the back of your head and the sides get rubbed and the back will get fuzzy and matted while the sides start to come loose from breakage or if you have shorter layers in the front. Its a quick style but there's nothing protective about it. Save yourself some grief and don't make it an everyday thing, especially if you have to redo them every two days to look polished at work. I wish I could show you photos of the damage in the front and at my nape 😬
Everyone's hair is different. If you're adding moisture and not violently ripping and tugging your hair, this is fine. It's actually one of the best low manipulation styles for curly hair, and it actually can help keep the hair detangled and stretched, which can reap even more benefits for your hair. It just depends on each individual.
I resonated with what you explained about wearing masks. As a 4 I used to do this in my late adolescence.
Absolutely Correct ....I never got a Deva cut bcox ,,When Cut Wet,, all Splits or dry ends get ridden away....and it gives good shaping too .
honestly ive never got my hair cut coily, only straight, and if i want layers that is more precise to me
I do French pigtail braids a lot in winter too but usually I tie my ends off with a perm rod. I used to use small elastics like you do but having the ends of my hair out like that causes alot of breakage and stress for me. Great style, it's classic, looks cute, and you can take out the braids and wear it and then moisturize and braid again or turn it into a different style. Thanks for sharing!
I got a deva cut on 3b/3c two different times by two different stylist and hated it both times. They pretty much cut all of my length off both times. I’m talking from armpit length down to chin length
i couldnt agree more with your point about how dry cuts look "good" when you first walk out of the salon but are truly uneven when you wash and style it yourself. i went to the same salon for a couple years but had to work with a different stylist the last time i went. i normally always ask for them to cut my hair while wet but this stylist insisted on cutting while dry so i gave it a shot. i have a round face and have bangs and side bangs to slim my face a bit. i told the stylist that i normally get the hair in front of my ears cut to my chin and my bangs at the tearduct so that when they are dry and bounce up they are at the perfect length. i didnt realize it until after i went home and washed my hair but she didnt even cut my side bangs. they were still passed my collarbone. all she did was give them layers which is what i didnt want!! she also cut so much of my overall length off that it felt like i made no progress growing my hair out these past two years (and my hair grows fast). so i ended up having to cut my side bangs myself and i can tell you now i did a terrible job. ive since moved states and am currently trying to find a new curly hair stylist but it really is difficult avoiding those that only do dry cuts or want $200+
That's it I'm cutting my own hair using the unicorn 🦄 method.
Thank you!! Unfortunately unless someone has curly hair; they don’t know how to cut curly hair. Found out the hard way.
I disagree. Had mine cut by someone with 3C curls and my haircut is the worst I‘ve ever gotten!
What’s the best way to cut your own hair? That’s what I want to know. I’ve had too many bad cuts. I’ve hated all of my Devacuts too.
Curls by Mell had some ideas for cutting my own hair. I was happy w results. Good luck!
