In the movie version, they cut off his head. In the TV version, my understanding is that they edited that so they could bring Baltar back as a recurring villain. Or maybe the censors just thought it was too violent yet they didn't want to cut the scene entirely or reshoot it? Not entirely sure. But in the TV version, he is spared, and in the movie, he is executed.

You never got to see Imperious Leader's face in the original series. But if you saw the Universal Studios tour, or the toys, you know what he looked like. Since the story underwent several changes due to network censors, it was always unclear whether Imperious Leader was supposed to be an organic alien with multiple brains as the novelizations explained, or a pure robot as Apollo explained when he detailed the history of the Cylons in the TV script, or something different. I don't think even the writers or directors were sure. But allegedly, they never showed Imperious Leader's face because they decided it just looked too goofy. I think it was a good choice, it left you wondering.

OP ship when you think about it. I always thought the Decepticons had different fighter classes in the third movie but i now just realized it’s one type that can transform into whatever is needed. Like it can go supersonic or hover in place which is really cool

God this goes so unbelievably hard holy shit

Bill Conti probably did his best work on this movie. The music more than carries several sequences characteristic of 80's fantasy. Costuming and character design were next level on this movie. Favorite scene is "I am not in the giving vein this day" mostly because of how fully realized the characters are and how theatrical everyone is performing. Conti's score makes the whole scene so urgent and impactful. Everyone in the movie gave 110%...except for Dolph (probably more regarding his ability at the time - this was before he became a good actor with Universal Soldier) and Cannon ($$$ or lack there of). Like many 80's fantasy films of the 80's, the music stands on it's own.

For those that don't know...this is the tv series ending of the pilot episode where Baltar lives... In the theatrical release, Baltar dies in this scene.

What a weird show.

I got to watch this with my mom who grew watching he-man and other shows, it was so amazing seeing her recognize all the old characters it was like she was watching it again for the first time, I'm glad I was able to experience he-man for the first time like this outside of all the pop culture references I understand why it's so loved

I seem to remember a version of this scene where they actually killed him. Regardless, you can tell from how the end is cut that they changed it.

I think Lucifer and Spectre both compete for being next in line to be Imperious Leader (in case the present Leader's base star gets blown up).

The voice casting of Patrick McNee and Jonathan Harris was brilliant. They brought a smooth villainy to BG.

This show and the movie “They Live” are two examples of 1980-ish sci-fi that had immense potential but were weighed down by cheesiness.

Better than the lame remake.

And depending on whether you saw the movie version of the TV version of this story, Baltar either got his comeuppance, or not ...
