By "methods" are you referring to narrative vs descriptive? If so, my primary reading method is the narrative. I use descriptive readings to answer descriptive questions such as when you are asking about traits or characteristics of a person or animal. Because the Petit Lenormand wants to tell you a story, narrative readings are perfect for this system.

With practice and experience, the metaphors happen. I wouldn't call your examples metaphors. I'd call them keywords and descriptive phrases for the core meanings of the cards. You'll find all of them in my book! :-)

Yes. Other than the live reading videos and those that I state are made-up for instruction only, all videos are based on readings that received feedback.

I have a chapter on timing in my book and I suggest you read it carefully as timing is a complex issue and one that can’t be explained easily here. I include timing associations for the cards in that chapter. The short answer is that you can include timing in your question as when you ask what significant events will happen in the week/month ahead. You can also divide the box into 3 columns, each representing a particular period of time. This is better done with a grand tableau which is also found in my book. Because the gt uses the entire deck, you’ll look for the card representing the event in question (you’ll charge a card for this purpose) and then see where it falls in the gt that is laid for a particular time frame. You’ll also note the closeness of that card to your card. Is it within reach during the time period? I hope this gave you some ideas.

Hello and I understand you perfectly! Your thinking is correct. When you charge a card and then search for it in the deck, you will take the 2 cards under or behind it for a 3-card spread where the charged card is the first card. If you want a line of 5, you’ll take the 4 cards that follow your charged card. This will depend on the intention you set before you started. If you want a 3-card spread with the charged card in the center, you search for the charged card and take the card in front of it and the card behind it and now your charged card is the center card. Is that clear?

How you shuffle the cards is completely up to you. I never cut the deck unless I’m doing an in-person reading and I then allow the client to do that. Not because it’s necessary but because it gets them more involved. I have always drawn my cards randomly - never drawing in order from the top of the deck as many do. But, if that feels right to you it will be. It’s all about what feels right to you and then decide what you’ll do and TELL THE CARDS! That’s what I mean when I say “set your intention”. In other words, stick to the plan and don’t change your mind because you don’t like the cards you’re drawing.

Over time, you’ll learn how to phrase your questions perfectly in the way that will make the most sense to you. People’s questions often need tweaking so that they’re suitable for Lenormand to answer. Remember that these cards shine when telling a story rather than stating facts (the problem with yes/no questions). You’ll get much more information this way and the answer is often something no one has considered which makes many yes/no questions useless. If you’re sitting with a client, you really want to help them, yes? You want to get to the heart of what they REALLY want to know - which is often not what they’re asking you at first. Talk it out with them and tell them that you need to phrase the question in the best way for this particular divination system. Vague questions = vague answers. I do this also for written (email) readings. Asking the wrong questions will waste your time and possible supply the wrong answer.

@@lisaloveslenormand6357 thank you for replying! 😄 I was actually referring to the part you pointed the man in the house of anchor and anchor in the house of man… this you mentioned as a ‘crisscross’, also the rider in the house of cross and cross in the house of rider… I did a spread that had a crisscross with the man in the house of letter. What does a crisscross mean? Are these cards emphasised?!? I looked for an answer searching the net… not luck, thanks a lot in advance!!! ❤

@@nadia.szegecs Got it! It's been so many years since I've used houses that I misunderstood. If you got Man in Letter and Letter in Man then they are interpreted individually as you always would do, but they are highlighting significance. Things that jump out at you and catch your attention are intended to do just that - get your attention. It just makes it more important to the story.

Hi, Elizabeth. First, let me say that all of the answers to your questions are found in my first book, The Petit Lenormand Oracle. The Tree has no anatomical association because it's the card of health and well-being. Therefore, when it appears, we look to the surrounding cards for information on what aspect of health requires attention. If you look in my book you'll see that it can also represent oxygen or the lack of it. For those who also use it as the 'family tree' card, it can represent hereditary disorders that will be explained by the surrounding cards. Always keep in mind that these cards were designed for tableau reading, not being read singly as you can do with oracle or even tarot cards. In a daily draw, it will still refer to health and well-being but as always, we lighten the meanings of the cards for dailies so don't panic when you see it. It may simply be a reminder to tend to your physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual health based on the other cards. And, speaking of emotional and mental health, the Tree's association with slow-growth and stagnation can tell you that you're going to have a slow-moving, boring, or unproductive day. Often when it shows up in a daily draw it simply tells you that you won't have much energy that day. Also remember that the way you interpret the cards depends upon your question so if you are wondering if you should continue going to your allopathic doctor or switch to a holistic practitioner and the Tree comes up, it's pointing to holistic. I'm copying this from my book: In a relationship reading, the Tree indicates a bond that has roots but is stagnating, boring, convenient, or at best, will require time and effort to bring to a healthier state. In spiritual readings, it can represent our connection to different planes of existence. It’s associated with ancestors due to a tree’s reference to one’s roots and the family tree.Descriptive Words: unfit or with health issues, green eyes, someone who’s grounded, slow-moving, boring. A natural and holistic-minded person, a hippie (tree-hugger), a healer, a doctor, a patient, a shaman, all healthcare workers, environmentalists, arborists, gardeners, and ancestors. Base keywords include well-being, life force, health, holistic, slow but steady growth, a slow pace, inertia, rooted, long-lasting, immobile, patient, quiet, enduring, natural. I also discuss the broader concept of the card in the book and a lot more. I hope that helps.

I've got a few cross-spread videos and I show how I lay them out in at least one of them. It's really up to you - just tell the cards where you're going to put the card before you select it. I start with the center card and then add the right, the left, the top, and the bottom. I always do it the same way so I don't have to stop to think about it.

You pose some excellent questions and one answer fits all - what meaning are YOU going to give to the cards? Traditional readers (my second book is on the original Method of Distance method that this system employed from its inception. store.bookbaby.com/book/the-petit-lenormand-traditional-grand-tableau) The Lily was the original card that represented peace within one’s life. Family life was important during the 18th and 19th century Europe when your survival depended on a strong and prosperous family. This is why the Lily represents marital bliss (thus it represents sex through love rather than lust), satisfaction with one’s life, peace and harmony in your personal life. The House is a structure - it houses you and those you live with who may not be family. It represents your personal life but it’s the cards around it that will tell you how it’s going. You’d want to see the Lily above the House card, yes? As for the Tree card, it has come to mean many things by modern readers who incorporate tarot and oracle card meanings to it. Traditionally, it’s the card of health - how something is rooted and how it is growing. The Tree is a part of the natural word as are we while in physical form. The Tree shades what’s on either side of it and the roots feed on the soil below (drains the card below). We read the cards around the Tree to determine the state of health of the seeker or the health of a situation or idea in question. So, if the Tree falls near the seeker, it’s bringing attention to the state of health, yes? When the health of something or someone needs no attention, then the card would fall far, yes? The Tree has nothing to do with family but has been given that association because of the word “roots”. I don’t need a card to represent family roots if I already have a card for family. The family card’s position within the spread the surrounding cards would tell me all I need to know about it. If the Tree card falls near my family card (I use House for those living with me and the Lily for extended family), then some aspect of its health needs my attention. Based on the other cards present, I may see the issue as connected to family roots/ancestors. Overall, the problem with many modern readers is that they want each card to have a specific meaning but in Lenormand, it’s the positioning and the combined energy of the clusters of several cards in relation to the context of the question that provides the meaning. All of the clusters are explained in my second book, “The Petit Lenormand Traditional Grand Tableau.” The partner card is not part of the relationship cluster, only the Ring, Heart, and Anchor. The cards sitting around the partner card and the cards that connect your card to it (the vertical and horizontal axis cards) and the cards that separate you (all cards falling directly between the two cards) have their own story to tell. For example, the cards around the partner card can describe who this person is, where you may find them, or why you aren’t noticing them. You’ll find the information on the Love Cluster on page 85 of the printed book.

I can't fully comment without seeing all the cards, yet the story begins with something wrong/sneaky. The Snake is in the hidden issue spot, showing hidden treachery, and asks you to be cautious with those you deal with because something isn't straightforward (the Snake is twisted, yes?).

If you laid a past, present, and future spread, then that's somewhat correct. In that type of spread, the column you land in represents your present, to the left is your past, and to the right is your future. This was never practiced in traditional Lenormand where each grand tableau was laid for a single time period and the spread is interpreted based on the Method of Distance. Yes, absolutely. The cards we draw at any moment in time are based on the energy we’re emitting at that moment. This is why it’s vital to be of a neutral mind when consulting the cards. It’s why I meditate for a few moments before I pick them up. Also, situations are constantly evolving - everything is in a perpetual state of change. When things appear to be staying the same, it’s because they’re changing to the same things based on our energy. If we begin to think differently about something, we are literally attracting a different response. Keep in mind that the cards can show us many different aspects and ways of viewing the same situation. You can also derive the same answer to a question by approaching it in many different ways and you’ll get different cards to explain it. If you can provide an example, I’d be able to better assist you.

@@lisaloveslenormand6357 this may be true when reading the spread as a story. I'm talking about specific questions about specific events that are locked in time. The future is fluid only to an extent; there are some events that are locked in on our timeline. What I did notice though when I tested this further, is that the connection with the cards depends on our focus on the question. When I maintain t he focus, I am getting the same response. So I agree with your suggestion to meditate and focus before working with Lenormand. I've been working for many years with Tarot, yet never had such a strong connection with it like I have with Lenormand cards which I have discovered only recently, for some strange reason. That was definitely a quantum jump to another reality as these cards were not in my previous reality. I talk about quantum jumps on my podcast you will find on my TH-cam channel. 🙂

How wonderful! Take your time and really let it sink in. Play with your cards throughout the entire learning process. Form that relationship. They have the ability to tell you anything you want to know! 😀
