I'll go out on a limb here, we know that this was Dan's baby, arguably only made by his vision and we'll likely to never see another red dead game. Once he left rest of the studio was not even interested carrying on and probably figured money better invested in gta online instead.

It really is one of my favorite things that Derek pretends that his Corona movie is "givng kids both sides," but he is SO EXCITED when he talks about Dirty Dog's views. Like... strangely excited to the point that its painfully obvious that Dirty Dog is Derek's real ideological stand-in.

I never played Red Dead Online, but I did play GTAO back when it released. I watched the community get jerked around on heists for a long, *long* time, and watched it slowly devolve from the mostly serious early days to the modern GTAO with flying cars and orbital strikes. I have zero faith in Rockstar to make anything that isn't a singleplayer experience. They are starting to remind me of Bethesda in that I am not even sure if they are this blind to their community or are actively malicious.

The problem was how do they monetize it, by the time naturalist came along people had thousands and tons of gold with very little to spend it on Given the nature of the game there was only so much you could do, where GTA had flying bikes and cool shit released all the time ,red dead could only provide more horses or other revenue generating buildings , that again, didn’t require you to but there premium currency as everyone was already filthy rich

I gotta say, I've seen a lot of impactless action scenes in bad movies. But when Cool Cat clocks that coronavirus magic-enlarged (?) molecule (?), they clearly put effort into making the strike look fast and like it was struck hard. If nothing else about any of this fiasco, well done there.

I like their very smart way to limit the money earnable on bounty hunter missions instead of just oh idk limiting the amount of bounties you have per day. Maybe each day you get 3 minor bounties and a medium bounty with one major bounty every week. Like this game is pretty much begging to be made into a Wild West simulator and easily could be but it’s not as profitable as GTA online so why bother right?

My sister actually fell into their "whole subscription instead of one time purchase" trap around 2010 or so and couldn't get out of it. When my dad found out, he send them an angry letter about how they had formed an illegal contract with a child under the age at which you can legally enter into a contract and how they had better release her from the contract immediately or some such. They did end her contract, but I don't remember if anything else ever came of it.

Game is boring

I remember being part of a posse owned by a guy, Tyrone. We travelled the land together and killed many enemies together. One day we went hunting together and Tyrone got a large buck. and some pelts. As we were taking the long road back to town, i sensed something was off. Within minutes we were ambushed by another posse. Tyrone was slain but i managed to kill some of the enemies. He was yelling at me to pick up his deer carcass to which i couldn't because there were so many guns lying around i was not able to pick it up. He in turn killed me... betrayed me... and for the next hour i was hunted down and killed by my own posse. In the end i did kill them back but that sense of betrayal was so visceral, I've never experienced anything like it in a game.

The game was a single player, it never should’ve had Online

You played it with friends, you’re automatically better off than myself and most players. Imagine getting everything solo

Guess I'm not playing godus again on mobile, eh id gotten bored of it anyway, at a certain point its too hard to be fun to get past (when free to play-ing anyway, oh i wonder why). Also despite it feeling like a game that would work way better as a mobile game it also plays like a game that wasnt ported well from desktop to mobile at all imo

Wow at first i was having negative nostalgia for things i didnt recognise at all, but then i learn that gummy bear and crazy frog were from this same crappy ringtone thing? I want to say childhood ruined but honestly that helps, it was never all that, it was meant to be a little thing that was annoying, and thats what it was, lol can't believe i had no clue that that was context for that. it was literally just the thing that other kids played into your face to annoy you on purpose, especially if you didnt like it, to me

Back in 2020 i was coworkers with a guy who 'worked on movies' and according to his IMDB he was an assistant director on Cool Cat Saves the Kids. I never spoke with the guy more than the occasional hey cause he was a creep and I only figured out he worked on the movie after he quit. I look back thinking how crazy it was that I had a degree of separation from daddy derrick for a second there and I totally regret not finding out earlier and never asking him about it.

I loved RDO, but it is still insane to me they didn't 1. open up Mexico, & 2. introduce train & bank robberies.

Resetting daily streaks was the biggest slap in the face. Basically penalizing your most consistent players for playing the game the way it's intended. And for what? What was more gold going to do? Buy an extra hat? There wasn't even any content to buy with gold so to do that to loyal players let me know it was going to die soon after.

They were so, so close to greatness with both GTA Online and Red Dead Online... such a shame greed completely ruined it. It's not the devs - they're just like us. They KNOW what's fun, it's the fucking capital owners pushing for more and more profit
