Somehow, I “missed” Jennifer in her prime-in fact, I only discovered 1 year ago. I am a big fan of Celine and only discovered Jennifer because I came across Celine’s cover of Power of Love including Jennifer. I couldn’t believe my ears. I’m 86 and have heard them all, from Ginger Rogers to Edith Piaf to Vera Lynn. Then Diana Ross, Ella Fitzgerald, Aretha Franklin, Janis Joplin, Barbara Streisand, Dusty Springfield, Tammy Wynette, and Bonnie Tyler. Add Gloria Gaynor, Roberta Flack, Connie Francis, Laura Branigan, Linda Ronstadt, Rita Coolidge, Celine, Mariah, and Whitney and you have the lineup of the greats right up to Adele and Susan Boyle. But Jennifer Rush has the all-around best female voice I have ever heard. Her operatic training adds an unmatched vibrato containing depth and texture. It seems a lot of listeners don’t like vibrato despite the following fact: “A crucial element in Elvis' sonic signature was his use of vibrato.” Jennifer sings everything: opera, pop, rock, and ballads in English, Spanish, German, and Hungarian. She also studied piano and violin at Juilliard. For those of you who dont get it. Harald Schmidt was the german version of Conan O'Brian. You think the interview is weird? Try to listen to it without subtitles. Just because what she says makes sense if you do a 1by1 translation from her spoken german into englisch doesnt mean that it's easy for him to interpret what she is saying and to then still finding ways to try to make a joke... that as easy as you think.
