my name is April...
I enjoy Finding & sharing wayward and sometimes local places of interest to some in beautiful Northern California.
My videos are about some of my favorite things.... enjoy :)
History, fishing, hiking, gold panning, wandering, gold rush towns, storms, wildfires, museums, pioneer/miner cemeteries, historic houses, parks, rivers, lakes, mountains, airports, nature photography, driving dash cam tours, Native American sites, cool bridges, the abandoned, flea markets, Rockhounding , Lookouts, dirt roads, sunsets, dams, reservoirs, and a few lesser known oddities like a 92 year old tortoise or a couple of KuneKune pigs that sit for treats!
Northern California is a wild and wacky wonderous place...

Stockton How It Used To Be
Stockton California wasn't always a bustling and busy city, but when it was founded it quicky took off as one of California's busiest sea ports servicing the gold seekers of the gold rush.

This is the way maya Angelou experienced it , ots crazy i love the 209
I never been to Santa’s Village in Scotts Valley sadly, it was long gone before I was born. But that building at 1:42 was the last remaining building, and my sister and her friends used to hangout there when at was abandoned. I only saw it one time, the building was the Polo Barn built for golf champion and polo player Marion Hollions. But Sadly it was demolished in 2014!
Thank you for the history lesson April. It's so sad what they did to the Japanese Americans.
👍🏻👍🏻
@@Smithsgold thanks Jeff!
Good job I really like your work. thank you, the A.I. voice works well easy to understand
@@davec9244 thanks!☺️
😊
Spent summers there. But mostly at a place called the forebay. At least that's what we called it. I was there from 66 to 74
There was a green line that my parents told me would take me somewhere. I just learned it was to the dam but I thought it took me to Chinatown. Don't know why but I was 7 then so who knows what I was thinking
@@nickjimenez4262 Oroville had 2 chinatowns! That’s a title of a video I made has some old maps
Thank you for sharing. I have been to all of them and worked at Pigeon Point for 7 years. You forgot one lighthouse that sits in the Bay at the entrance of San Pablo Bay. On the Richmond side of the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge. East Brother Lighthouse, it was built in 1853 and is now a Bed and Breakfast.
@@leticiakohnen4954 ahhh I didn’t know about that one thanks for the info! ✌️🤠
I was born and raised in oroville until I was 7 yrs old. I remember a park with an old fire truck type thing. It was painted black, seemed huge then. Also there was a green line on the road that took you somewhere In town.
@@nickjimenez4262 sure it wasn’t one of the locomotives at Hewitt park?
@FindingNorcal I'm not sure. I left when I was 7 and I'm 59 now. I remember climbing on it and being scared when I got to the top. Is the green line on the road still there? It was supposed to take you on a tour of something. I remember Table top mountain, the feather river, learning to swim at the feather river plunge, getting on the swim team. I loved oroville
@ yes the line is still there it takes you to the dam! I have several more videos about Oroville on my channel! 🤓
@@nickjimenez4262 I think I saw what you must be remembering there’s a big fire hose dolly with giant wheels it’s by the freeway now but used to be at Hewitt park, it’s repainted black and yellow now . If you want to follow me on Facebook I can send you a pic! Facebook/finding NorCal
@FindingNorcal thanks I think that's exactly it! I remember thick black paint on that thing. I have 8mm film of me walking in the 4th of July parade wearing boxes with foil on them I was supposed to be a robot. Also going to the fish hatchery. I will follow you will be fun to see everything again
🎉
Cool Place
Merry Christmas 🎄
Enjoy all the old pics ty. And merry Christmas
These old town videos are great. Keep them coming.
@@sambrinley9823 there’s a bunch on my channel!! Enjoy!!
To bad marysville didn't have a lot of those old bulidings. Still, the town would be a lot cooler to visit like old sac
There are MANY historic buildings left in Marysville!
I've lived in Humboldt since 1950. The Carson Mansion is the only place I recognized.
Unfortunately the Bidwell Mansion burned down last week. Horrible loss for Chico.
Enjoy your coffee
I live a 1/2 mile from the dam
@@flyprincess69 beautiful area
ITS NOT SEWAGE, YOU'RE LYING ! Its tertiary treated reclaimed water. The same stuff used to irrigated golf courses and grow many types of consumable crops. This valuable method for producing electricity is very needed… unless you think a world before its discovery is a better place….
@@fieldingmellish6856 you can believe whatever you’d like! 👍

hey that's my uncle in law's grave.
Yep. It's gonna rain.... Everyone can panic now.
here it comes
Amazing how much spent and done, for a more or less temporary fair. IN 1905 Portland Oregon held a world fair, massive building, it burnt down! A monument to how clever we are at that time or were we that clever. good job, thank you
@@davec9244 yes! The Seattle world’s fair left us the space needle and monorail!
@@FindingNorcal very true
Great video! I like your new male British accent
@@desertdeb that’s Ollie, he does all my serious narration 🙂
Way cool. Nice work my friend 😁
Love a good fair ☺️
Very cool, April!
O ya😊❤
When you mentioned that a lot of celebrities came to the World's Fair, the one celebrity that you left out was the famous Mrs. Laura ingalls Wilder. She went to the fair and stayed with her daughter Rose Wilder Lane. Who is a celebrity in her own right.
@@Dorthy-wx9fq I did not know that! Also Sarah Winchester visited!
I wonder how much it’s going to go up 🤔
@@irishgrl I will have an update at some point next week
Unfortunately the hotel caught fire and is set for demolition in the next few months. It had been vacant since the 80s. Hoping the land will be used brighten downtown.
I've been there a few times...nothing.
@@alfredgeorge3186 nothing?
1:51 Worth noting that the Mercury News absolutely lied about the 7 story tower. Of course the papers made up a lot about her. Could you imagine if she actually gave an interview? I'm sure I'll have more to say as I finish watching this.
Do you know how i can find these old maps from the 1800's?
@@AlphaRomeo925 try the online archives at csu Chico special collections
I discovered this place while working the paradise clean up job. I was shocked to see this place out here she described it just like I did
@@unkymf8323 I was beautiful everything the name implied ❤️
Do yuba city and sutter
@@unkymf8323 those are harder photos to find as yuba city seems newer than Marysville but I’ll see what I can dig up 😊
What a gorgeous home Would be an interesting tour.
@@desertdeb you guys totally need to go it’s so neat!!
What a cool home.
Nice job
@@Smithsgold thanks!
