I know I'm late but here's a tip: Considering those CPUs memory controller runs at a max 2400, you can easily set your RAM timings extremely low and gain quite a bit of performance. Especially the 0.1% lows will benefit. I built a few x99 PCs so here's my RAM timings: cr 1 cas 12 trp 12 trcd 12 tras 27 trfc 295 trc 39 Worth a try, enjoy.
I want to buy one of them Would you recommed me 1080ti or arc a750 for
The picture quality with this intel arc a750 is amazing
Is the drivers update for intel arc fixed yet??
I wish that I would’ve seen that CPU cooler when I put together my BKHD C612 build. I ended up getting the Wovibo 120 top down cooler and replaced the fan with an Artic F12 for about $21 before taxes. I also ran into the same driver issue, but ended up getting all 109 drivers through SDI.
did you mount the cpu si-100 with its backplate on the back of the mb? Or did you use the default 2011 thingy that came w the mb
Normally, Broadwell Xeons only need the 2011 ring adapter.
When you provide no resolution to these tests besides the occasional "4K" for a certain game, these results are useless.
If you watched the video, you would hear me say that I would be testing in 1080p other than where specified. I can make sure to list the resolution for those of you who don't actually watch it...
I know I’m a bit late but have you ran assetto corsa (the normal one with mods)? Also wow I thought you had atleast 10k subs the quality is insane
I haven't yet! I don't play AC at all really, and don't have a ton of background with how people run various mods and how that affects performance. But it might be something for me to make a video on specifically! Oh and thanka for that compliment, it means a lot that people find value in these videos! I'll be looking to make some more soon, I have a lot more topics to explore :)
@@CharMandurr86 no problem man and thanks a lot for the response
Does this support windows 11 with the ftpm requirement.
I don't believe it has tpm support natively, but there are some videos going into how tpm can be added. @Miyconst has some on this topic!
Is this pc still working now?
Well, it's stored away until the next time I run some testing. It's not a daily use PC, although I wouldn't have any concerns running that as a main system.
Other than when you put 4k on the screen you never said what other resolutions you used. please include 👍
I had mentioned in the video that all of the tests would be 1080p except where noted, but for clarity's sake I will make sure to include that resolution info on each test section :)
That Williams reminds me of Juan Pablo Montoya and Ralf Schumacher back in the early 2000s... A very loud and gorgeous sound of a V10. Formula 1 was intense back in those days.
These cats some of my favorite to drive in sims too! So brutal, with refueling as well so it made for such hard racing for an entire race distance!
@@CharMandurr86 The good old days of EA's F1 98-2002 Challenge.
10:35 it is my opinion that the GTX 1080 Ti is the best graphics chip/card ever made. However, what I have noticed is most reviewers such as yourself mainly focus on FPS, why? Temperature and power consumption to deliver results are equally as important. Say you buy a 1080 Ti that might cost a bit less than a750, but you get more FPS. You will be paying more LONG TERM on cooling AND ELECTRICITY BILL. Just keep those in mind. With that said, the a750 blow those, yes I know "OLDER CARDS" off the charts.
This is a great point! I'm going to make sure to include some coverage around power consumption and heat as well!
E5-2643 V4 = i5 -10400
The rtx 3060 is surprisngly the limiting factor in some of the games
It can be a limiting factor, I think it's interesting how well the 1080Ti has held up!
You need 4 sticks of ram to fix the .1% It is quad channel
The Machinist PR9 is dual channel
Yes, unfortunately this motherboard is dual channel only. I'm going to look to get a cheap X99 board that supports quad channel and see how much of a difference it makes for sim racing titles.
Great video and info here.
4c/8t is saver. I have ı5 6500. in Battlefield 1, fps is drop sometimes. I think ı7 6700 will be my saver.
It all depends on what the pricing. If you can get the i7 6700 for cheap/free, then it's a great option as an upgrade. But if you have the budget, I think moving into something like an AM4 system would provide much more opportunity for growth. Something I'm looking to cover soon! ;)
Daily Chinese X99 user here (Huananzhi X99-QD4), you did mainly 1 mistake: - You went with 2 sticks and not 4 sticks -> your motherboard support full quad channel, and it is great to just get OEM / Server ram for those builds, much cheaper, and you will find 2133 / 2400 MT/s sticks without any problems Because of that you will get not only better performance but for sure you will go even lower with the price since OEM / Server ram is like always crazy cheaper than the "consumer gaming ones"
x99 pr9 is a dual channel motherboard
PR9 is dual channel, 4 sticks wont do anything
@@someguywithmtndew5691 well it does, it detects the ram, just that in dual channel, so you can put up to 256 GB of RAM on it
@@Carrington1961 yeah i should've said 4 sticks will work it just wont run in quad channel/get better performance
I'll be looking to pick up a quad channel X99 board soon, and we can compare to see how much of a difference it makes!
your other video with the 3060 has much lower 0.1fps in games and massive stutters, yet you dont blame the drivers on that?
I had a 5700xt. bought it new for less than $400. sold it during the crypto craze a few years back for $900. I took off the fans and ziptied on some noctua fans and it decreased temps substantially. 10-15 C if i'm remembering correctly. It was a great card, i had upgraded and the world was losing its mind over GPU's so I sold it.
Is ACC tested in 1080 or 1440?
Also wondering this
So this is still a good card. ;)
th-cam.com/video/TZ0lyvHt73Q/w-d-xo.htmlsi=44vM3yvgd9kYhSbu Here's my A770 in VR.
I dont know how poor can you be..as e5-2650v4 costs less than 10 usd and is double the perf.
With 12 cores, I don't know if most sim racing games will take advantage of that. But they will lose significant performance from the much lower clock speed that the E5 2650 v4 as most sim racing games take advantage of the faster speed. Might be worth testing later, but I think there's a reason why the much higher core count CPUs are so cheap. I think the 8 core E5 2667 v4 has more potential though, it's coming in a future video for testing!
It might be double the performance in workloads meant for it, but not in gaming, as single core performance is still quite important in most games. A real “do it all” Xeon would be an unlocked 2696v3 as you can just disable a bunch of cores to make it more efficient and it’ll run games the best out of them all at 3.8ghz with whopping 45mb L3, but it’s also one of the most expensive old Xeons.
@@zextakamania2086 i guess whats expensive could mean. even v4 is old by todays standards. I guess 50$ for cpu seems much if there is 50$ mb to be had, but i guess thats how it is.
That old Silver Stone chassis looks ugly but I just love it! With all the scratches on it!
It's definitely unique! I might try to polish it and see if it looks any better too! I also have thought about putting a Blu-ray drive in it and using it as an HTPC again, but need to figure out where I put the drive cage for it... Thanks for commenting! I really love your videos and in-depth analysis!

@@CharMandurr86how did work 3200 mhz I put and show me black screen ???????
Hey! Rampage IV Extreme owner here! Just stumbled acorss your video and I noticed how incredibly efficient the Xeon lineup is regarding power consumption. I have a 4930k at 4.5ghz and a spare E5 2680 V2. When I went to swap them just to see how different the perfomance would be and, surprisingly or not, they were very similar. But the 4930k consumes around 140W and the Xeon sat at around 45 - 50W, just like yours. I would suggest to you, as a future video if you want, compare these results to a 5820k or even the 5930k. That would be interesting. Great video!
I keep forgetting to dive into power consumption in my videos, there are a lot of good points to cover on that - I really appreciate this comment! I think these very low power consumption figures also contributed to how cool the system was running even with that relatively small CPU cooler. I'm digging around eBay for the 5930k, so you may see that pop up in a video soon! I also just received an 8 core E5-2667 V4 and want to see how it compares to this E5-2634 V4. Maybe I can put all 3 in a comparison together! Thanks again for this comment!
This is an awesome video just subscribed!! Just what i needed.
I'm really happy this information could help! :)
Cool concept, I think we need more stuff like this in the sim racing space.
Thank you! I agree, I think there's a lack of testing and use cases presented for more budget oriented options. I'll be posting some testing of other low budget builds soon!
This is pretty impressive actually... works quite well. nice video
Thank you! I think the Intel Arc GPUs are amazing value in the sim racing space, every title worked solidly with no weird issues or dealbreakers. Can't wait to see what Battlemage has to offer!
I LOVE realistic gaming specs and comparisons. I look forward to see your channel grow. You have earned my Sub after only 2 videos watched.
I can't put into words how much I appreciate comments like this, thank you so much! I really appreciate that you, and everyone else as well who's subscribed and been so supportive here! I enjoy making these videos to analyze different PC build options for sim racing, there's quite a few more ideas coming! And especially when it comes to having a tight budget, while it's easy to throw money at it and build the best of the best- I want to demonstrate how a ultra low budget PC build can still provide a good playable experience. These kinds of systems can potentially lower the barrier to entry into the sim racing space, and I think this is a good thing. Sim racing for all!
i recently got a MSI RTX 3060 and compared to my Series X i was blown away at how good it was. should of gone down this route way before. also my pc spec is a Ryzen 5600 msi b550 32g ram. really impressed with how pc is running sims. a 3060 is defo worth checking out.
That's a great build! I still think AM4 platforms are the best value by far, with how much you can upgrade a very low end system. I went from a 3700X to a 5800X3D and fell in love with the ultra smooth frame pacing.
wow a750 is prety big. i love chonky cards. using rx 6700xt red devil atm the chongkiest i can get in used market working realy good. almost complete my dream build. just need 2argb fans a ultrawide 34" 2k 100hz++ need change my membrane keyboard to tkl
This A750 is pretty big, as big as the GTX1080Ti I have, while this RTX3060 is tiny in comparison! A 6700XT can be tremendous value, especially if you find a good deal used. That build sounds like it's going to be great, enjoy it!
Thank you for providing information of this nature. I appreciate your showing the driver issues as they are. It looks like you had to do a bit more work in getting them updated but you were able to overcome the issue in the end, fairly easy. Still hoping Intel stays in the GPU game. The competition is really needed. I am a new subscriber thanks to what you have provided!
While it was a minor annoyance to deal with the driver not wanting to connect to update automatically, I figured it was worth noting as it's a well utilized feature with AMD and Nvidia GPU drivers. I've bought 3 Intel Arc GPUs so far- an A770 in my streaming PC, an A380 in my video editing workstation, and an A750 for the testing in these videos. I might pull the A770 out and run it through these tests too at some point, if there's interest in it. Thanks so much for subscribing, I'm looking to put out more PC hardware testing videos like this soon! Along with some sim racing videos, and other ideas too!
Fair fight! I am very happy with my A770, which I bought after feedback from fellow Saabjock about his A770. One thing to note is that Nvidia Pascal, 10 series, is probably the best ever GPU microarchitecture we will ever see regarding gaming performance x price. Also, it was developed when DX11 was the main API, so it is a specialized hardware to the most sims in this test. Great times those were, when crypto and IA were not a thing and Nvidia still had costumers like us somewhere in their priorities.
I agree, it's a tight battle! Glad to hear that you're enjoying the A770, that card is a beast! The 1080Ti is a true powerhouse, it was incredible when it was new and you're right that we will probably never have something like that again. I hope I'm wrong, but if anyone does it I can be certain that it wouldn't be Nvidia.
Interesting video. All the cards seem to have pluses and minuses. I wouldn't get the 1080 though as support will be running out over time. For me the more consistent frames make the arc a750 a better choice especially as they are still finding performance uplifts in the regular driver updates and current pricing. At the price point of the A750 then AMD are the closest challenger. Also AV1 encoding on the A750 for those that do more than game is worth noting. Lastly if performance is similar then I would always prefer new to second hand. Great video and keep up the good work.
I would be doubtful that support would end soon for the 10 series Nvidia GPUs. The driver updates tend to be more important for new game release optimizations and things like that, while most sim racing titles are pretty stable and not something that would benefit too much from this. I feel this is why GPUs like the RX580 can still be a decent option for a super low budget sim racing build, as the latest AMD drivers should still work well for these sim racing titles without more recent updates. But without a doubt, the Intel GPUs are strong contenders now. I wouldn't have any issues with daily driving this for my personal sim racing rig (I currently have a RTX3080 12GB in my system) and can't wait to see how Battlemage looks! And AV1 is a huge selling point for sure, for streamers or anyone doing video editing work. I really appreciate these comments, I enjoy making these videos and hope that it can provide some guidance for sim racers looking to build or upgrade their PC. Thanks again!
@@CharMandurr86 thanks for the reply, my concern for the 10 series is two fold. First as updates are done then these are unlikely to improve current games for these cards and second if a new version or a new racing game came out there may be issues about outdated drivers however I know these things are rare in the sim world so would likely be ok for now. Still some games are starting to use features which the 10 series (as good as that generation of cards were/are) are not well equipped to run. If performance is similar now and price isn't too much difference then some future proofing wouldn't go amiss. The A580 would also make an interesting card here. That said a budget build for the 10 series card is as shown in your excellent video more than capable for the needs listed here. Maybe I am just worrying about the shelf life too much for these cards.
I've been using the A770-16LE for a little over a year. It has come a very long way in a fairly short time...relatively speaking. I even use it in VR for all of the titles sans the F1 series...I don't have that one. It runs great in everything simracing.
I agree, I'm really impressed with these first generation Intel GPUs! They've developed massively since the launch, and are viable options for sim racers. Especially with pricing in some regions, the Arc graphics cards can be quite a bit cheaper than the Nvidia choices. I do want to dive into AMD GPUs soon too, something that's in the pipeline!
not really on topic but where did you get the senna williams model?
All good questions are appreciated! :) I found it on eBay years ago, I was lucky when randomly searching for F1 models and bid on it and won for a reasonable price. Always worth looking around on there!
The VR experienc e is great in AMS2, AC, ACC, LFS. I own the A770-16GB LE. It may not have the highest peak framerate but the outright smoothness in simracing titles, is unmatched. I love mine.
What VR headset do you run? Great to hear it's working well for you! Any specific settings that are necessary for it to run well?
Hi there, had You try project cars 1 and 2 in Intel arc?
I haven't tested those games, but I can do a small follow-up video to go over PC1 and PC2. I might throw in some Euro Trucking Simulator as well!
How'd you get that to work?
It works, in the sense that the fan is plugged in on it. But other than that, it's moreso an ornamental piece rather than a functioning part of the system. But still fun to have! I need a better way to mount it though.
Bruh you chose an intel pentium as your processor to pair with the src a750 you are know the king of bottlenecks
The Pentium II is from 1997 :) So yes!
i5 6500 still good for Sim Racing on Low Med Settings.
Yes, for some of the games. My testing shows how the i5 6500 is not playable on ACC or BeamNG.drive.
