what about if water driver side passenger footwell ? where to look at?
Water is entering via the door trim card. Remove the door card and re-seal the polythene sheet behind the door card.
I wish I had seen this before buying mine, but you are right. For the price and the vehicle I am putting it in, it is still a good buy.
Thanks Eric for all the great info especially about the 3 button unit. I am struggling to find on aliexpress the things you have on the video, do you have any info that will locate the facia adapters and the better quality head units? Thanks for your help.
I can't post direct links but go onto AliExpress and search 'Peugeot 108 radio frame'. Check out sellers like 'Cocheskon', 'QSZN', MAMSM etc. For a good basic Android HU that works well with Android Auto or CarPlay check out Mekede M300S. Just be aware of poor phone call quality on most of these Android units.
Yours is the newer mk2 and is different to the older mk1. The mk1 uses a return spring on the clutch pedal to pull the pedal up to its stop. So by only adjusting the cable knurled knob will not make any difference to the pedal hight, as the return spring on the pedal will pull it fully up until it hits the pedal stop adjustment bolt.
Correct, what the cable adjustment does is more specifically to move the bite point. And the adjustment bolt you mentioned at least on my 09 C1, needed to be fully backed off in order to allow the upward travel of the pedal as shown in the video so as to slacken the cable to permit adjustment of the fluted cable adjuster.

You have to look behind the radio. Some cars manufactured without a camera have the camera wiring installed, but some do not. In any case it is better to install an aftermarket camera, they are inexpensive and will have better resolution than the factory fit camera.
@@erictechUK Mange tak for svaret for jeg skal have ny radio i den ene Aygo jeg ejer og den er uden kamera men jeg har nenlig en radio med skærm så kan jeg sætte den i bare uden kamera
@@hanshansen8775 I will shortly make a video of how to install an aftermarket camera, it is straightforward.
@@erictechUK Mange tak
Really annoying as the previous generation all leaked badly.Pretty unforgivable the factory havent solved these issues with the next generation of cars.....
Would this fit in a 2009 Toyota yaris? Or any you recommend on a budget?
Yes it will fit a 2009 Yaris but you will need a fascia adapter panel. Check out eBay or AliExpress e.g. £14.59 | 2 DIN For Toyota Yaris Vitz Platz 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009-2011 Car DVD/CD Radio Stereo Fascia Panel Frame Adaptor Fitting Kit a.aliexpress.com/_EG8uKnA
Is there any software way or option to disable the internal mic ?
No. An option to switch between external and internal mic shows up in the 'Settings' menu, however it has no effect. The external and internal mic are wired together inside the unit.
@erictechUK i can't find that option in the settings Brand "joying" I tried to plug the external mic, and it works But the internal one is also active, which has noise problem
@@9AyirThe external and internal mic are connected together inside the unit. You cannot disable the internal mic in software, you must cut its wiring as shown in the video.
Hi I bought this car radio that the internal microphone is unusable .... Am I forced to do this operation of disassembling it and cutting the red wire of the microphone or do I do the RMA? Thank you
None of the cheaper Chinese headunits have good telephone call quality. The audio circuit designs are crude and lack filtering and noise cancellation. Removing the internal mic will improve things a bit, but its not transformative. The only Chinese unit I'm aware of with good phone audio quality is the Dudu7 - it has digital filtering and noise cancellation but its 2x-3x the price of the UA13. If good telephone call quality is a high priority then stick with the big name Japanese brands such as Kenwood, Alpine, Sony etc...
@@erictechUK ok thank you but apart from this problem the car radio works fine and is right for me. I will try cutting the red wire to see if that solves the microphone.
Very good explanation but how do you get the screw released if the pedal is so heigh so you cant lift it up. Top position any advice
I already answered this question. Ask an assistant to push the pedal down a little. Then, on top of the gearbox, use a piece of wood or something like a large socket to block the clutch release lever in a partially released position. Take foot off the clutch pedal. Now you have slack in the cable and can turn the adjuster to lengthen the cable. Press down on the pedal again and remove the piece of wood. Take foot off pedal. You should now have free play at the top of the pedal and can adjust the pedal position as described in the video.
I have a Brave 6 Plus, if you disregard the mic housing, what better condenser mic could you solder onto the end? (if not restricted by size)
For voice recording you could try a condenser capsule with noise cancelling design and unidirectional/super-cardiod response e.g. type 1463 (14mm diameter). Check out eBay or AliExpress.
@@erictechUK Thank you, i found one and will give it a go
I have an auto aygo 2005. Its constantly beeping when i accelerate. Not the door beep or light beep or seatbelt been. Its coming near dashboard but no warning lights. The only thing after researching is the automatic clutch?
It is very likely a problem with the gear change system. They tend to be troublesome and I'm very surprised its still working on a 2005 car. You need someone with experience in these systems to check it and set it up correctly.
What a pleasure to watch and learn…thanks for making the video, it feels great to get this info from a guy who understands audio AND electronics.
Top class video, thanks for the very precise and simple explanation!!
This great video! Just what I was looking for to fix my 108! 👍👍👍
Hello Eric. Am looking for this model to fit my Audi mk2 tt but can’t seem to find it. Very keen on the price as I’m on a restricted budget. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.
Eonon don't appear to make a version specific to the Audi TT Mk2. You would have to get a fascia adapter plate for your car and then install the standard 2-DIN UA13. 2-DIN (7") fascia adapters for the Mk2 TT are available on AliExpress for around £15-20. You will also need a wiring adapter + CANbus module - again on AliExpress for around £10. As an alternative you could fit a larger 9" screen headunit like a Mekede/Navifly M300S. 9" fascia adapter with wiring + CANbus module is around £25. If telephone call quality is important consider a 9" DUDU7 unit - very good but more expensive at £250-300
@ thankyou for you prompt reply
hi, i have a toyota aygo mk2 and i want to change the speakers, can you please tell me an “easy” alternative to j bl that can be putted in easily(without che adapter, wiring thing et) ? and can you please tell me the size of the original speaker? (diameter, width ecc). thank you
You cannot install aftermarket speakers without using adapters etc. The standard factory speakers in the front doors are about 165mm diameter and about 45mm deep.
Thank you very useful video my pedel is very high am now going to adjust it down cheers 🥂
to do a proper set up and make it clear : after clutch replacement by a new, where is the nut supposed to be ? what is the hight between pedal and floor ?
How was the gt86 install ? I'm looking to replace the defunct touch & go. Where are you buying the plus unit how much ? Did you do a custom harness
GT86 install is very easy. Purchased Toyota brackets for aftermarket radio fitting (Toyota part number SU003-01962 and SU003-01963 - left & right) at a cost of about £6. Purchased wiring harness adapter from AliExpress - about £10.
@erictechUK Appreciate videos like yours, are you a radio engineer ? I've mailed Eonon I'd go for the UA12S-PLUS-6G it's on offer & sports a qulcom soc ! Not sure if it's genuine android 13. I've figured most of the car wiring as no steering controls or factory camera, one black wire from the antenna not sure about, do you know? taken aerial apart I'm guessing it's a built in signal amplifier due to the circuit board, needs power or ground ? not sure how to test that. I've heard that some radios send power down the centre coax core, there is an adapter for this around the interwebs along with iso harness and usb retension adapter for center console.
Eonon A12 and A13 series both run genuine Android 13. A13 series is fine if you just want to use CarPlay/AndroidAuto. A12 is better if you want to run apps on the unit itself. GT86 is a very easy install indeed. Standard Toyota connectors. Get a 16-pin headunit-to-Toyota adapter - e.g. from AliExpress seller Burgim, Upindo, Skyfame or others. Around US$10. Don't bother going via ISO. Adapter will have 16-pin plug for the Android headunit going to Toyota connectors: 10-pin (power and front speaker), 6-pin (rear speaker), radio antenna connector with power feed pre-wired, plus 20 and 28 pin control connectors (use if have SWC). It will also come with a USB retention adapter. Its plug in and go. Takes literally two minutes.
leak on my 2015 ago, the dealer don't recall it?
first up this video is pure gold thanks! question is when you cut the foam gasket the water will drain out, but where does the water run out to? and how to make sure it wont run into the boot? many thanks
The small plastic access cover is actually on the vehicle exterior. Any water draining via the cuts in the foam gasket will run around the outside of the rear hatchback rubber seal. It cannot enter the car.
Excellent helpful video! Really appreciate the pinout of usbc discussion.
Hey Eric, fantastic review on the UA13 which I have recently purchased for my car, very impressed with the turn on speed (1-2 secs) to hear the radio as that did concern me. The Android Auto works really well and the microphone in my car is fantastic (spoke to my daughter first time use and she said volume is okay), and I did not connect the external one although the head unit occasionally (not often) gets it bit laggy but overall, very impressed with my purchase. I did have to connect the illumination wire to the main illumination harness ISO as the button lights did not work on car lights, but Eonon told me that they left it disconnected as some cars it cause problems if connected. I just wanted to connect my phone and use maps and listen to mostly radio so great for me and the GPS works great they also gave me a bonus reversing camera and a cigar socket USB charger. I did have a question about adding apps to the main widget screen where maps are viewed, how is that achieved, by loading from USB or connecting via Wi-Fi. Thanks Melbourne Australia.
Hi how are you finding the unit looking at buying one ? small world i am in Melbourne too
Informative video
Will DAC chip converter work in this case?
@@1aalok No. A DAC chip is a Digital to Analog Converter. It converts a digital output signal (e.g. from smartphone) to analog signal (e.g. for headphones). The Akaso camera needs an analog input from the external microphone. You don't want a DAC or ADC between the mic and camera - just a simple analog connection.
Thanks for the video, yes we have had the exact same issue as you with the audio. Akaso have been superb with trying to resolve the issue, but in the end we have had to return x 2 Brave 7's. They even sent a wireless mic set up, but unfortunately this too had mixed results, one minute it would work the next no sound, or poor sound so we gave up. Shame as the video quality was fine for our needs. I hope Akaso can resolve this issue.
Thanks a ton!
So am I right in thinking that in theory I can connect say, a Rode videomic go 2 to this camera? By buying what exactly? Just so I’m clear 😅
Excellent video, I’ve searched high and low for the connector (or adapter loom) that you’ve made? Could you help atall? Thanks
@@A6RXN Not sure which adapter loom you mean. All the connectors are standard Toyota and adapters are readily available from many suppliers - e.g. the dash top speaker adapter connectors are Connects2 part no. ct55-ty02. But there are other cheaper suppliers of equivalents.
@@erictechUK Thanks for the quick reply, they’re £4.99 so not too bad but if I could find the empty female connector to make my own that would be great, every combination of wording I’m using for the connector only returns occupied connectors 😭
The problem is removing the damn gas struts and electrical cable for the wipers to do the seal replacement. Not the best design.

@@erictechUK thank you for your response and what about the pry bar?
Also, make sure wind noise reduction is off in menu before recording. This makes a substantial difference in audio gain. If you change the setting to off and shut down the camera; the next time you power it on it ON the wind noise reduction will be set to "ON" again
Very good video. It was useful to see the cable in detail and out of the car.
Great video but cannot lift pedal to release the nut. Any ideas?
The cable has not been adjusted for a long time and you have run out of free play at the pedal. Use something like a very big screwdriver or bar to move the operating lever on top of the gearbox to take tension off the cable. Then you can move the nut. You may want to jam the operating lever with a big socket whilst you spin the nut a few rotations to lengthen the cable. Once you have some free play at top of the pedal you can adjust as per video...
Well I didn't need an assistant., but I did need both hands in there, lucky I've got the long thin arms I guess. All sorted, feels like a new clutch, which is stunning. Thanks again.
Thank you so much for taking time to make this very useful video, my daughter’s boyfriend just bought an 108 and fitted one dash cam from amazon(no comments), he returned it now and purchased nextbase front and rear kit, sooooo easy to fit, took less then an hour. So much easier to fit when you know where the things are.
Awesome, I got one of these as an emergency a few months back, and boy can it be reluctant getting into 1st. Started to wonder abt clutch adjustment, and here I am. I can see mine's out of whack by the pedal, now I know. I'll be getting under there tomorrow once the rain stops to see what's what. Thanks!
Did it work?
great video thanks.. bought a C1 for my daughter when she passed her test and 6 months later and she's now moaning about struggling to get it in gear, adjusted the clutch per yr video literally in like 5mins, and its now fine again...
Hi, I am a brave8 user. I want to record video while riding a motorcycle. Can I modify it so that I can use charging and pin microphone at the same time?
You could make up your own USB-c plug to do this. You need some knowledge of electronics and also precision soldering facilities. Bare USB-c connectors are available from Amazon and Ebay.
I just replaced the clutch in my son's 108. Adjusting the cable was a total nightmare. My hands are too big to fit down beside the battery so i need to remove the battery and battery tray every time i adjust it. Im not exaggerating when i say that the battery was in and out a dozen times before i got it perfectly adjusted🤪
Hi, is this adjustment procedure the same on a 1.2 alure model, on the Peugeot 108 ? Thanks again for your tutorial.
The procedure is similar, but not the same. The 1.2 litre model uses the PSA PureTech engine and a PSA-designed gearbox (rather than Toyota, as on the 1.0L models). Its a cable-operated clutch, similar to the one shown in this video, but the cable attachment at the gearbox is different.
@@erictechUK Thanks again for your insight. I'll look further into it.
I think the Brave 7 LE is a micro-USB type b, not c.
I ended up getting a AKASOExternal Microphone Type C Version for my AKASO Brave 7 LE and it doesn't fit...
Le doesn't support external mics, I'm pretty sure that's one of the main differences between le and regular 7 Edit sorry i mixed it up with other acaso cam, le supports external mic, but i can see you can buy 7 le with micro usb port, if you have that, type c obviously wouldn't fit
I have a 2006 C1 and the clutch pedal does not pull backwards as in the video when you lifted the pedal with your toes. Do you know what this means? I managed to adjust the bite point by applying a fair amount of force to turn the fluted screw with my fingers. I hope I did not damage anything, because the clutch pedal now vibrates slightly when initially pressing down.
Thank you. I found I had to unbolt the battery and shift it a couple of inches to one side - my hands are way-to-big to get through the small gap next to the battery. With the battery out of the way access was easy.
