Does the CTCSS tone of 100 need to set for "Decode" and "Encode"? My Anytone 878 has both options......

Thanks for the introduction. I have several V71A rigs that I really like. One of the things I really like about Kenwood HT and mobile rigs is how easy they are to program from the front panel. I just started playing with packet and APRS, so a 710G is in my future. 73 de AG7TX

Great Video. We will be providing Aid Station Communucations for a 100 mile race in a rural state park using 2m simplex. My specific aid station is in a valley and I will be using the cross band repeat on the D710GA this year to solve a couple issues. One being tied to the radio/genset/lifepo4 at the station. If a runner is hurt on the trail previously we would have to relay via HT’s or wait for in person reporting back to the aid station to send out over 2m back to net control. Cross band repeat will allow for more efficient communication from aid stations back to net control. 73’s.

Thank you, you just sorted a hickup of mine out ! TX-T, the tone, somehow I did change that without realising and could no longer open some repeaters and I could not fr the world think of it why... Basics... I had them working in the car, on the handheld but not on the 400... Great that you made me aware of that subsection I never changed consiousely before ! Ok just got this radio and I cannot Figure out how to do a negative offset for 147.435 146.400 it’s not working right

How do you tell if the SMSGTE servers are down? On Friday I was able to send a bunch of texts and emails with no trouble. Yesterday and today, nothing will go through, and SMSGTE doesn't really tell you what's going on.

Thanks for showing the functions of the mic buttons. I prefer when watching a video to listen to the commentary. I find reading the text more difficult than reading the same thing in a manual where the text stays in place instead of changing for the next feature. I do hope you will take my comment in a constructive manner. Thanks again for posting this.

Good commentary but it would be much better if you could zoom in or put the lens closer to the radio so we could actually see the typing/fonts etc.

Excellent walk through of the APRS at a slow enough pace and it helped a lot. I am confused between the SMART beaconing and AUTO. If you programed your radio then isn't AUTO best? When would I want the SMART beaconing? Thanks, KE0YRZ

As I was saving Chanel slot 20 on my Kenwood TH-D710GA as my dedicated APRS channel I somehow LOCKED the A-side of my transceiver to APRS & now I can’t change the channel! I hit F & then held MR down...then it locked. It forces me to use the B-Side to scroll through my other channels. I held F down for a second or so to see if that was the lock I needed to disengage but it wasn’t that one. I also checked the memory settings to see if I can unlock the radio that way but that lock was turned off. I don’t know how to unlock the A-Side now. Help! 🤷🏻‍♂️

your VHF on the 400 will never transmit on that freq , it will only receive ... I don't understand why you would set it on low
