Kaja might be a Korean who doesn't know well about Japan and I am real Japanese, so I must tell you that the real dark side is in Tokyo, you tourists should visit Tokyo not at first but the last in order to be able to fly back to your home from Narita airport when you feel regret to have come to Tokyo.

Kyoto has many racists japanede people but you need to live in the city more than 3 months to understand it. Good news : japanese people are coward and will never be direct with you about racism - what i recommand if you are victim of’racism : react verbally in japanese it’s better NEVER involve physically NEVER because as foreigner you will loose no matter the situation - also japanese never keep eye contact so they always watch floor - told you they are coward 😅

If you are interested in genuine Japanese culture, you do NOT stay in Kyoto. As nobody goes to Disneyland to "know" about American culture. If you recognize "omote" and "ura", then you need to deepen that experience. Otherwise, continue doing whatever and leave your money.

I have to say that not sharing much personal information and ideas with people is definitely a smart idea more people should do more in other countries. It prevents a lot of conflict between people when people keep their ideas to themselves and close friends.

I think you’re conflating racism with xenophobia. Racism, the deep seated hatred for a group primarily based on skin color, is a uniquely European thing and doesn’t really exist in non-white societies. You may experience xenophobia in Asian or African Countries, but actual racism is very rare. Many non-white people will tell you that they weren’t aware of their race until they travel to predominately white countries. Because the concept of race was invented by Europeans and is (I’m sorry to say) essentially apart of their culture since it has existed within their societies for so long. It’s a complex topic, but it’s important a differentiation is made.

of the two times I been there, both times I was mocked and stared at just because I was white. I was redirected from restaurants who wouldn't serve locals, and hell while i did not partake, the whole sex industry in the country hates foreigners as well. I still remember going to a spot in osaka's food districts with friends and being told they had no tables when half the place was empty... then there was the time I almost collapse on the street. In my home country half a dozen people would have checked to see if i was okay... In japan? they just walked around me...

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA the value of the yen has nothing to do with japan being expensive. the german guy just says that cause he doesn't know what else to say... he's just rich. he says: "if my salary was in yen it would also be expensive".... wrong.... if your salary was in yen it would be adjusted to match the value in euros and you'd receive the same amount of money ONLY IN YEN. the face value of the yen has no direct relation to potential productivity of individuals. the only reason individuals end up with less money(unrelated to currency) in their pocket is simply the fact that more people inside the country means there will be less available labor. this is why people like "donald trump" gain support by saying stupid shit like "foreigners are stealing our "black" jobs"..... which is just flat-out racist to say and should never be said..... the ethical way of saying this is: "migrational influx is constraining the labor market". so yeah... currency face value is highly irrelevant as local prices will still match global market value unless domestically produced. simply have to fork over 5000 euros to even get to japan is the whole bullshit story, i'd personally rather use that money while actually in japan, rather than just to get there. because what was the best part? whatever it was, you didn't get to spend that 5000 euros on it. BTW FOOD IS EXPENSIVE E V E R Y W H E R E !! !! !! comfortably being able to afford it does NOT make it any less expensive !!

what is the harsh reality of this video? 1. every foreigner you interview is clearly fucking rich. 2. every foreigner you interview claims everybody is nice, because they fucking don't actually know anybody. 3. every foreigner throws the word respect around like all being respectful means to japanese people is licking someone's boots because of their age or fear of losing their job. 4. nobody mentions dango.... which is weird, because it's fucking poison level sweetness, but extremely damn delicious. 5. viktor orban is a piece of shit.

I am hawaiian. One day, I was returning to my place with a friend, an american with blonde hair and blues eyes. I was walking quietly with a casual and decent outfit. My friend was complety drunk, falling at each step, holding a cigarette with one hand and a can with the other one. A young japanese man on a bicycle screamed "China,china" like a barking dog. He didnt say "junkie" or "fucking tourist" to my friend but was angry against me who look kinda asian with a brown skin (but behave normally).. WTF is it normal ? To became agressive against a person with good manners only because of his ethnicity ? And to be calm with a problematic white man ?

Your video is not realistic. If you want to show the real dark side of japanese people you shall interview korean, chinese and south east asian. Black, white, latino and indian people are not victim of racism in your country

Im an African American and I've visited Kyoto but for a couple of days with a group. I personally haven't expected any racism but then again i wasn't visiting for a long time to feel it people were polite just like people in Tokyo and Osaka. I will say i enjoyed Tokyo and Osaka a bit more for the activities but Kyoto is very reserved but also so beautiful with different culture and more calm ❤.

I disagree that it's cheaper than in Europe to travel in Japan, it only feels like that way due yen's weakness against European currencies. Trains and busses are cheaper in Europe than in Japan.

Just came back from Kyoto and Osaka. We only spent 5 days and it was amazing. Very organized and run transportation!! Street is very clean and people are very nice. Compared to Northern California, Osaka and Kyoto were more affordable and food is amazing. We plan to come back in early 2026. Shout out to Japan Airlines, it is our new favorite airlines!

France also could have been like that (safe, kind people, cultural) if you guys together with Merkel would think whom to admit to your country and under what rules. Would think how to protect national identity and culture. Just like it's done in Japan. Rules and respect are a must! Respect to Japan

Thank you for the great learning topic........The way I was raised as a black man, my mother made a statement, right after I joined the U.S Air Force when I was young, never forget that you are a black man but also don't worry, the others will certainly remind you. As a black man who has visited 13 countries, including Japan, I would say that its a mix of reasons. However here is the main reason for racism, anywhere in the world. Most people were not truly educated (when they were very young) about the origins of mankind or modern humans/homo-sapiens-sapiens. Most people only learn about their culture but not about how mankind migrated from out of Africa, to all parts of the world. If everyone was taught the truth about our human species and how much we all have in common (avg. 99.9% of the same DNA, we are one scientifically one human race) then maybe they would be less racism, xenophobia, discrimination, prejudice,racial profiling etc. Japan like many other countries, wants to be respected and welcomed in all parts of the world but they are less welcoming towards people of color and that is a fact (I've been there). Nobody seems to care about a few brown/black foreigners here and there but let a few thousands come and then you'll see the real truth. Racism is a social construct by what they were taught and in their earliest years of education from schools, families and social constructs. If you told a Japanese person that your culture is from Japan but not your most original ancestors, actually migrated out of Africa as black to all parts of the world, around 50 thousand years ago, they would be shocked. They should also know that as early as 10 thousand years ago, most modern humans were still dark skinned (or considered black in today's understanding) and gradually developed different and lighter pigmentation's an other human features, all due to their stationary habitat (over thousands of years) group environments, UVR's, diets and vitamin D. Although I have experienced racism, discrimination or racial profiling in every country, most of the people were still wonderful, good loving people.

It’s amazing how foreigners who visit Japan experience no racism and foreigners who live a long time in Japan experience a lot of racism. For me I’ve lived in Japan for more than two decades and I think it’s the most racist and xenophobic country I’ve ever lived in, but my family here are Japanese so I stay for them. And I’ve lived all over the world including in apartheid South Africa but I still think Japan is the worst for xenophobia and racism.
