      The other lifters have a larger internal diameter so the shims will not stay in place correctly as there is too much room for them to move around. You will destroy the shims if you use them in the wrong lifters.

    Very nice. Are you still playing with the M50 On a daily driven occasionally abused vehicle how regularly should the lash be checked? I currently have a low mileage S52 in my M3. I am thinking about building an M50B30(32) that I won't feel bad about blowing up if it happens. High rpm, High boost, normal compression NV M50 seems much more common in Europe. Most of the US builds seem to be far more conservative. Been watching and reading for about 20 years now but still haven't built an engine. Thanks for your work.

    What size turbos did you use? I just did compounds on a alh tdi. they are the greatest. I want to know a good turbo size for a lower power m5x , like 800hp, 84mm or 86mm crank, solid lifter. I was thinking this 3576 for the high pressure as i have a brand new one with a few rear housings. One more question, You were building high compression high h.p. turbo 2.8 a few moons ago...... My question is , as compression goes up thermal efficiency goes up , v.e. goes down. So over a certain boost you make more power with less compression. Did you just shoot for highest v.e with highest thermal efficency? Or were you just looking for max off boost preformance? or something else completely? Did it do what you expected? Here is my resource.... this d-sport video , if your short on time its around the 17 min mark. th-cam.com/video/0XAGo1B_w20/w-d-xo.html p.s. Nice suction jet pump. I make them out of glass often. Sometimes its for lab equipment some times its for water pipe filtration. An elegant solution.

      I have a GT55 promod 88 and an EFR 8474, which is a 68mm inducer. I will probably get a 94mm wheel put in the GT55. I think it would be a waste of time to do compound turbos for only 800 whp. You can make that power on some of the newer tech 64mm turbos and have excellent response. I don’t believe for one second that reducing compression ratio on a turbo application will make more power for a second. I think that’s complete horse shit.

    • @someguy325es
      @someguy325es ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn’t watch the whole video but I’m assuming he is calculating that you can pack more air in the cylinder with the larger combustion volume by that’s assuming you were able to effectively scavenge the exhaust gas out and replace it with fresh air on the overlap, which is an extremely optimistic assumption on a turbo motor unless your drive pressure is very low and you have continuously variable valve timing on both cams. I’ll give you $500 to prove it on a dyno.

    Just wanted to update this review. Year 4, with a bit of sharpening I'm still thrilled with this Auger! This is an excellent Auger. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxe0I-fnTUByahTCyStrIBXsesSkQJKn8n It splits to 1/2 size for storage in the warm months and easily assembles for winter use. I can cut holes in less than a minute by and really don't feel the need to ever adapt this to use with a drill. It cuts easily with the included blades (which can be sharpened or replaced as needed) and has held up extremely well through last season, and now for the first cuts of this season. I do recommend this to anyone who asks, and personally prefer this over powered augers. These are quiet, still quite fast, lighter, and don't risk spilling chemicals into our waterways. I plan to do a lot of fishing this year through the ice, thanks to this trusty Auger. The 8" diameter is great for fishing pike through the ice as well.

    It´s a snazzy solution, but you could have just gotten a 30USD lift pump that would run when the main pump runs, takes about 1A and would keep the reservoir full, another option would have been to take out a jet pump from a BMW fuel tank and just use that.

    • @someguy325es

    • @GunniGST
      @GunniGST ปีที่แล้ว

      What you have there is reliant on the amount of return flow, which of course usually is plenty, a pump has no such relations. That is but one a reason why jet pumps aren´t used in race cars but lift pumps are.@@someguy325es I should ad that an even better solution and cheaper solution would have been to just dump the return fuel into the reservoir and have a 2mm hole at the bottom of the seperator plate.

    Could 12 mom studs be installed onto the m52 block???? How much boost can the 11mm studs take without stretching or lifting the head??

      You can use 12mm or even 1/2" studs. Hopwood motorsports in the UK sells a set of 12mm studs. The 12mm studs will not fit through the cylinder head and some head gaskets though so you have to drill out the holes in the cylinder head. 11mm studs don't require any modifications to the head. I've run 40-50 lbs of boost on my car with 11mm ARP2000 studs and a cutring gasket and have never blown a headgasket. You can also get L19 11mm studs from ARP.
