My top 5 is probably Flying Battery (Mania Version), Hydrocity, Chemical Plant, Studiopolis, and Stardust Speedway (Mania Version). Not in that order though.

I love the real Mario 2(lost levels) the extra challenge was ace and I disagree about the original Smb1/2 controls as I think they are near perfect from the get go and are precise which you can see in the speed runs.

You can skip the cutscenes in Parappa The Rapper 2 including boxy boy when starting stage by pressing both L1 and L2 in the control before starts and transition to the level

A correction about Super Mario Bros. story: No. You aren't killing Toads when you break bricks. The manual states that "if you come across mushrooms that have been turned into bricks or made invisible, they will reward you by giving you a power boost." This means that bricks that are broken are not Toads. And only bricks that have power-ups in them are Toads.

This video should be called little baby discovers the real Mario 2 and whines about it. Yeah it’s hard but the amount you’re bitching just shows how much easier games have become, because you’ve been totally babied. Just get better and the game wont seem so hard, by the looks of the gameplay you’ve got a long way to go.

I watched the whole video, lol. I just beat the Lost Levels Alls Stars version with the help of the rewind feature on Nintendo Switch Online. It actually helped make the game more enjoyable and less punishing for me.

Sonic cd levels aren't empty, that's an exaggeration. What I think you wanted to say is that there a lot of opportunities to time travel and have good time with sonic cd :) but no joke, this game is fire. Just try to always get the good future by destroying generators. Don't focus on time stones at all. Always try finding new spots to time travel. It's the reason why those zones are sometimes too open and why those zones have a lot springs in this game. They always give you a space to time travel, but you must think a bit so you will not run into something and eventually lose your past ticket. Once you destroy the generator, try to time travel to the good future in this zone for more fun and challenge. Once you time travel to the good future, you will probably be super close to the end of the zone. Instead of playing an act for 2 minutes, you will play it like this for around 6 minutes and have a much better time with the game. In Sonic CD, exploration is time travel. Time travel is success and success is fun. I hope you will try playing Sonic CD this way. Do it at least 2 times to get a hang of it. It makes the level design 10 times better and it starts to make sence.

I love Parappa but nothing beats rhythm heaven

As a huge fan of basically every Mario game I can say that they are all really good games (even the lost levels but I played that on the Nintendo Switch online with the rewind thing so that's probably why.) Although I don't have any nostalgia for these games yet because I grew up with New Super Mario Bros DS I played them for the first time almost a year ago.

Imagine your life without Mario, or Sonic, or Zelda, or pizza. Unthinkable. I will never forget my cousin getting Super Mario Bros. 3 for his birthday, we completely skipped the cake. We would sneak down in the middle of the night just to play it, epic.

Me and Cheap Cheap are lifelong enemies, have been for some time now. I don't know, years. Ever since I first played Parappa the Rapper and got to the cake stage. I enjoy the song just like I enjoy all the others. But boy, do I have a few bones to pick with her. Chicken, you're stressing me out by angrily jumping next to me while I'm trying my hardest to make a cake. It's good that people are still talking about Parappa, it makes me really happy. I've played both Parappa 1 and 2 so much, in the early days of my Parappa love I bought a PSP just so I could play the first game myself, I've never used that thing for anything else. Then I got a hold of Parappa 2 for PS2 and naturally played that like there was no tomorrow. Eventually I bought both games on PS4 and we all know just what that means. "Kick, Punch, it's all in the mind!" Goddamn I love these games, and the songs are all catchy as hell. They really are impossible to just listen to normally, I always find myself rapping along as I play. They just slap, hard. Long live Parappa. I gotta thank PewDiePie for playing the first game when he did, because that's what started this all for me.

I think im the only person on earth who actually enjoys the lost levels level design(with the switch’s rewind features of course, and also not the maze levels those suck)

Definitely a pretty fun retrospective, as a diehard Mario fan myself I obviously adore these games as much as the next guy (minus The Lost Levels) and watching this retrospective definitely has made me appreciate them that much more and you did a great job with this one even if a year has passed lol Also, do you plan on making retrospectives on all the later games and then do a deep dive review of the recently released Super Mario Bros. Wonder now that it's out? It'd be pretty fun too to hear your deep thoughts on the rest of the games too plus Wonder now that I've watched the entire retrospective.

I will be trying to debunk some of his points in this comment! 10:11 - This wouldn't be easy since the 3ds would have to reload all of the different assets and Luigi would need to start from the beginning to correctly show where he needs to go because of how these missions/mansions are built! 11:46 - Isn't this all of the Luigi's mansion games though? Boiling Luigi's mansion games down gives us: find the key to open the door and capture the ghosts! Again I haven't played very much of the first game but I do recognize the structure, either way I think this is just a preferable mission structure style between the choice of free roam linearity and mission linearity. 12:15 - (wow most of these are hot takes) These missions like in gloomy manor, are intended to change after every playthrough or mission in an order and can vary depending on the end-goal. The mission based structure also was intended so that there would be many different aspects of this small game and it lets the ending mansion (treacherous) become more puzzle based as a result of each of its mansion themes. 13:30 - Just like in the remake version of the original Luigi's mansion there wasn't an intent to add shaking to the fighting style this was just found by the players in the original GameCube version than intentionally coded out in the remake, also if you looking to shave off the ghosts health than just use the power surge. (I see that you talked about the power surge but you could've used this as a way to digress and show that its not that bad) 18:11 - they were!.... in the form of shielded, shovel greenies, and sunglasses greenies. 18:55 - agreed 21:27 - I think running should be automatic without a button too! As someone who was…old enough in 1998, I think a crucial piece of cultural context for Big's levels has been sorta lost to time: the late '90s fishing game fad. Yes, that was definitely a thing. Radica's handheld LCD fishing games were flying off shelves, Big Mouth Billy Bass was the new Pet Rock, fishing shovelware was creeping into the GBC and PS1, Ocarina of Time had evolved Link's Awakening's fishing mini-game into a…weirdly intricate fishing simulation, and Sega themselves had a series of extremely well-received fishing games in arcades, right next to all those Crazy Taxi cabinets. Hell, the first mainstream 1st party motion controller was the Sega Dreamcast reel & rod. So, not really a bad joke by Sonic Team, just a weird fucking time to be alive. Still doesn't make Big's levels any less shit though.
