    Recently, I got a 2001 Honda Foreman 450ES with 5,424. miles on it. I'm already having to do bearings and seals on the rear end, suspension all the way around, ball joints, front bearings and rubber. Fortunately the splines on the axle are in good condition. I'm also considering doing an oil change and a valves adjustment as well. My question is, is there anything else to do with the engine that's likely to go at that mileage? What else would you watch out for? Also the suspension I'm thinking of using is of the cheap Chinese variety, do you have any experience with those?

    • @TiffanyBottomsHunter
      @TiffanyBottomsHunter 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@wild_goose_0285 In my experience, first of all what size of wheel, and tires where on the machine when you got it ? If the machine was run in a lot of water, mud, and sand the wheel bearings will. Honda wheel bearings tend to need replaced after so many miles anyways, that’s one of the reasons I avoid, water, sand, and mud. I also advise not putting oversized tires, or heavy wheels and tires as they will wear them out quicker. I means it’s 23yrs old, that’s not really that bad, that’s normal to replace bearings. I would buy Honda Genuine OEM though, not the cheap stuff. I usually get my parts from partszilla. Yes, adjust the valves. I have a video on my channel about adjusting the valves on my 300, it’s lengthy though, and get you a service manual as it explains it all to you, along with some TH-cam videos you should get a well rounded idea of how, if you don’t already. Make sure you do a compression check, so you get the Honda spec compression. 5,424 miles isn’t much on the engine. Ball joints also wear too over time, but those are all typical wear components that will need replaced on ATVS, the engine should last well over 100,000 miles, though if properly serviced regularly as the owners schedule maintenance manual recommends. It sounds like it may have been rode a little rough, but as long as the engine oil was changed frequently enough, you shouldn’t have any real issues. Suspension, bearings, ball joints, etc that’s normal on Machines that old, and that many miles, but all serviceable. Just a little wrench time.

      I’m looking to replace the neutral switch sensor probably this coming weekend, I uploaded a video explaining it. I know the battery, relay, starter, starter relay cable, fuses, kill switch, lights, reverse switch sensor, reverse light indicator, oil temperature switch sensor, all work. If it’s not the sensor I will look at replacing the sub wiring harness for those sensors. The sensors cost $19.00 from Partzilla, and like $12.00 from places like EBay. I would rather order Honda OEM though personally.

    Sir, since you mentioned my country Mexico by name, I offer a humble suggestion to your immigration crisis in the United Stated of America. Sir, why don't you convince your U.S. government to return ALL the Southwest territories back to Mexico with interests in return Mexico would build, pay for and secure for a new border wall along what would remain of the much smaller United States of America. That would solve most if not all of the U.S. immigration crisis. Regardless, the Hispanic population particularly the Mexican population will become the new majority in the United States in approximately 70 years from now. Why not get a border wall for your territory losses?

      Even if I requested that my government do that, that would not hear my voice. Why do you not request that your government stop the Cartels from smuggling illegal drugs, and people across the established border that now is ? Why do you not request that your government go after it’s own corruption that has plagued it for so long, under which the Mexican people have had to suffer so much oppression, and violence that they seek to flee the country to a safe territory. Your government is not helping its own citizens, but making things worse for them. They have had 50yrs to stop the Cartels, and have not succeeded, but have worked with them out of greed. The Mexican people have had to suffer as a result of such corruption, and other countries do not want to invest in trade with your country due to the corruption, and an untrustworthy, and reliable government to work with. They are not helping you. They have lost too much credibility to be given anymore territory, they can’t even keep what territory they do have under control. If they can’t control what they already have, why would a country that has a stable government, and stable society over which it has dominion over such territory give it to a government that would abuse it ? That makes no proper sense.

      I used a air mattress from Walmart, with a portable battery powered pump. With the engine running all night, with the heat on worked fine. It didn’t consume anywhere near as much fuel as people seemed to think. People were like “ How much gas did it use ? “ thinking it would be a lot, but it probably didn’t consume $10.00 worth a night. Do the math that’s like $10.00 a night $70.00 for 7 days, way cheaper than any hotel per night. It used way less fuel than I expected. I kept checking the fuel gauge to check, and never dropped below 3 quarters of a tank for several days. I had the heat on high , and at its hottest setting.

That must be a long drive for you… I’m from MN and am hunting Tiffany on the Buffalo county side this year over Halloween week. I’ve got a few spots in mind based on e-scouting from OnX. It seems like that place gets a lot of pressure from the east side in Buffalo county and you have to get back pretty far. I’ll keep watching your videos to see what I can learn!

    • @TiffanyBottomsHunter
      @TiffanyBottomsHunter 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, I got to figure out that bushing issue, that was part of the problem with the foot brake, I mean the foot brake just doesn’t seem to rotate on that thing without a lot of friction. It would stick in different positions/angles without anything attached to it just sitting there. Yeah after really thinking about it that was what I was thinking with the back plate, as long as it seals properly. I got some Hondabrite cleaner I plan on using on it, I don’t know it I need that chipped piece to be there for it to seal. I think with some Hondabond on the drum cover seal it maybe fine. After a second look I think it won’t really matter functionally wise. It just needs to mount, function, and all seal up well, then it should be okay. Here are a list of things to check: Valve clearance, exhaust manifold seal, and gasket., Cylinder head rocker arms, Cam chain, guides, and cam chain auto tensioner, Crankshaft bearings, piston rings, and piston pin for starters. Does it sound like it is in the top of the motor, middle, or bottom of the motor ? Have you changed the oil, and filter? Do you use Honda pro hp4 oil ? What grade of fuel do you use ?

    • @TiffanyBottomsHunter
      @TiffanyBottomsHunter ปีที่แล้ว

      Adjusting the valves is where most people start, and a fresh oil change and filter, new air filter, drain the existing fuel if it’s had the same fuel in it for several weeks, put in a whole tank of premium gas in it. I would do some searches on TH-cam of various things, valves rattling, piston slap, loose cam chain, exhaust manifold leak, bad crank bearing, etc That may help you narrow it down.

      @@TiffanyBottomsHunter It's my first out of state hunt. I was more interested in the side nearest 25 where all the ag fields are. I'm starting along the Columbia river south of Wisconsin Dells and working west along the river. If I make it that far west Ill try Nelson-Trevino bottoms along the train tracks that split the bottoms with private ag

      I know, I’m hoping the valve adjustment, and oil change will make a difference on the compression. There working on the main water line right outside my bedroom window, jack hammers, concrete saws, excavators, concrete trucks, and contractors yelling at one another “ Hey, the waters not turned off over there yet ! “ I heard them out there early this morning, lm like already

      I heard that, but I also follow The Wisconsin Rut Report, not too many people were seeing a lot of movement, but later in the season they did near the opening of Gun season, I do believe when a strong cold front comes in, usually sometimes in October, that time is good, I believe it stirs the 🦌 up

    You gotta take a boat down the river a few miles and setup Camp that's what we used to do.

    I used to hunt and camp on the chippewa river bottoms as a kid with my dad and his friends every years around Halloween. That was a hard area to hunt . I remember when it was time to leave chipping ice to get out of there and back to the truck. We would boat down the chippewa river and camp way back in the bottoms .
