Welcome to Happy Home Heritage :) A channel dedicated to helping families with their homeschool. In our home we follow a combination of Classical and Charlotte Mason education style of teaching. Biblical truth is the embodiment of our homeschool structure with an emphasis on doing what is right and building a foundation of discernment. We believe that children are a whole person and should receive a full curriculum that will help them develop critical thinking skills that will aid them through out their life. Having structure in your homeschool is very important, yet not always easy to achieve. However, if you subscribe to this channel, you may find what works in our home may work for yours as well.
What to do when kids keep missing math problems | examples and walk through
So what do you do when your kids keep missing math problems? This process can work with any math curriculum. We use Saxon along with DIVE lectures because that seems to be the best option for my kids :) Don't be discouraged, give this method a try and give it time.

Homeschool Grammar | Memoria Press | 5th and 7th grade
มุมมอง 1.8Kปีที่แล้ว
Homeschool grammar can be a tricky pick. Memoria Press has a program titled English Grammar Recitation and I think it's going to be a good one. I had someone ask me if the student needed to be familiar with Latin because in the description on MP website it mentions that it references First Form Latin. I am happy to say that ANY KIDDO can use this program. Watch this video to see why! Thank you ...

Math can be stress free with the right combination of curriculum. My 6th grader has had such a confidence boost because she went from struggle to 90% or better on her assignments, tests and investigations! If there is a subject that your student struggles with, it can really set their tone for the homeschool day. When they know the subject is coming and it is a painful point, they might be relu...

First Day of Homeschool 4th and 6th grade 2022 | was it a train wreck?
Do you/with your children read the whole stories or just use sections? I know my kids will want the whole story so just wondering. Thank you for the information I did find the free sample that is helpful
What do you use for Latin?
I saw a video you posted maybe two years ago. So I’m very new to your channel. Do you still teach the CM way? With your oldest? 1:22
Did you have another channel? If not you have a twin on TH-cam 😮
How do you get your kids to hold their attention that long. Also if my kids are drawing they have no idea what im reading or their picture has nothing to do with what we are learning about
We do still use bushels and pecks in farming 😊
This is wonderful, I'm wanting to start some CM stuff but other things too and have 3 children, i was definitely getting overwhelmed figuring out all the books, this will be very helpful when i get to planning out the year, thank you!
She did a great job explaining everything! And marking what page she's on with a magnetic bookmark is so smart! I'll be implementing that for my kiddos this year!
I was so overwhelmed looking at the AO website and wasn’t really sure where to start. Thank you for breaking it down! 😊
I like that you have an Office Ladies hoodie. I subscribed. You seem cool. (And I'm learning more about MP 😉)
How do you grade each kids daily work and tests? Do you grade them as they finish it or within that day? Do you go over the ones they missed that day or wait until the next day?
Hello! I am considering SCM for History, but was wondering if you could speak to the amount of prep time and time teaching this takes? It appears to be a five day per week program which seems a bit daunting to me. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Is the book set up in such a way that it would be easy to test out of earlier sections and move up to the appropriate level?
Thisss what good to hear: the highs and lows of your daughter’s experience with this level of the curriculum, and how you supplemented the areas of your choice. Thank you.
Great video🎉
Where is the link to buy the math books? What could I use for younger grades? Thank you
I would also love to hear how EGR went! Considering it for my rising fifth grader :)
Can you provide an update on how you liked this grammar program after using it this year? Helpful video, thank you!
I am curious as well
I would love to see an update on your thoughts on Memoria Press. We went all-in this year and I don’t think there’ll be any going back. 😊
Very interesting observations you’ve made here, and thanks for sharing your process on the open-study-notes. Very good to hear.
Now that the year is almost over, how do you feel about bringing SCM back? I am *pretty sure* we will be doing SCM Matthew through acts and Ancient Rome. But I also notice there aren’t a lot of SCM history reviews here on YT which surprised me. Does it actually stink? Lol
What a great video! Thank you. We homeschool much the same way so I appreciate some of your input and ideas! Blessings 😊
Thanks for sharing ❤.
Thank you so much!
I'm glad I stumbled upon your video. Great communication, thank you
Did you stop using Ambleside Online then? I am assuming so since you are unboxing SCM lol. Is it just easier to do for mom?
Sooooo helpful!! Thank you. ❤
You are welcome! Thank you for watching 😊
just ordered my first gr 7 one and can't wait to receive it.
Thank you so much for sharing!! We haven't officially started homeschooling yet, but we love Ambleside Online and Memoria Press. Just ordered the kindergarten curriculum from memoria press and we are excited to see how it goes for us! Also, I am LAUGHING at your comment about it being orderly and being afraid of it because that's 1000% me.... 😬 that's actually why I chose this curriculm. I fly by the seat of my pants, but I don't want to be inconsistent with homeschool.
Great video! We also use Saxon. This was a great reminder for ME to have my kiddo check her work daily. I usually check her work at the end of the week but you made an awesome point. I like the idea of giving her the responsibility to check HER work. She is naturally an independent kiddo so this is something she can totally do. Thank you.
You are very welcome 😊
❤❤❤ so glad you are back!! rest and resets are such an important part of our care🙏🏼 thanks for sharing❤️
I feel you with the co-sleeping. I've never co-slept this long, but this kid....he just needs it to sleep and I need to sleep so we all sleep together. haha But co-sleeping is no-sleeping alot of the time. Happy New Year! I enjoyed watching another video. :)
Yes! Co-sleeping is sometimes no sleeping. Same with Sam. He just doesn’t want his own sleeping space. I know that one day this won’t be the scenario and I will be begging him to cuddle. So I just let the now be the now. Good to hear from you 😊
@@HappyHomeHeritage How do you transition your baby/toddler away from sleeping with you? We have always had success with the Cry It Out method, but for several reasons, we needed to do the Ferber phase-out method for this one. But because he still eats at night, I think there is no clear boundary. I've never had this problem before as I never co-slept past 8 weeks before. Help! lol I am guessing that the solution will be to stop all night feeding and do the Ferber method for several days all night until he's done. Apparently it works but I quake in my little boots to face it!
@@YogaNurture I’ll be honest, I pretty much just wait until night feedings are done. That’s why I’m struggling as well. Sam wakes up in a jolting cry several times a night. It’s almost a panicked screech! As soon as I nurse him he instantly falls asleep. If I try to let him cry it out he just lays into it and wakes the whole house. So you and I are in the same boat.
@@HappyHomeHeritage When baby boy was born he came out with a roar and he hasn't stopped since. He struggles with digestion, so that is why we have been way more lenient. And we can't just leave him to cry because he just screams and sometimes it's because of poop. So you wait until they just stop night feeding on their own?
@@YogaNurture I really do just wait until they stop night feeding on their own. Sometimes I can get Sam to fall back asleep on his own by shushing and saying I’m right here it’s time for bed, then he just falls asleep. But other times he nurses to console. My heart feels more at ease when I completely stop night nursing when I feel like my child understands my meaning of no. I guess all four of my kids have grasped this at different ages. For me it’s just easier to not have an expectation for co-sleeping. If I try to plan how it will go then I am surely going to feel frustrated because it has never happened according to my plan.
Great great great video! Thank you so much!!!!
You are most welcome 😊
Link for the DIVE lectures?
diveintomath.com/ This is the link for DIVE lectures. If you select the three lines at the top left of the screen you will get a drop down menu with all of the options. We were already using Saxon math last year and decided to purchase this as well. Make sure you have the correct edition (it will tell you) of Saxon math if that’s what you are using in the home 😊 I also have a video on here that shows you what DIVE lectures are.
Glad to see you. I would love to see any and everything you have to share....house tour, homeschooling, etc. 😊
I second that! Missed seeing your posts!
Oh. Self-care is so important for homeschool moms. I'm glad to hear that you are refreshed and I look forward to seeing what you have in store for 2024. 🙂🌻
Love that your back and Id love to see a home tour, finding good pieces thrifting is so satisfying. :) Id love to see what yall have changed with homeschool too, also in helping in the beginning stages of transitioning your children into some more independent work. I personally just love seeing real like things from yall because I think if we knew each other in person we'd be friends.
Happy to see u back! I would love to see home tours. I love vintage stuff! I would also love to see more homeschooling especially for ur older aged kiddos! Have a great week 💖
I will get started recording asap! Thank you for the suggestions that’s exactly what I wanted 😊
Glad to see you back! Happy New year!
Happy New Year to you as well 😊
Grandmother here with a question 2 years after this video was posted! I'm considering buying this book for my DIL who is homeschooling our 5 year old, but not using Charlotte Mason curriculum, not yet anyway. Is this book good for any homeschooling mother, or is it geared particularly for those using CM?
Hello 😊 This book has helped me in and out of homeschooling. I have found it to be a book of encouragement towards everyday living. The wonderful thing about it is that you can read it starting from any chapter. It’s a really great table book. I have highlighted in it and returned to the same points over and over again. I think any woman will love it regardless if they homeschool or not 😊
@@HappyHomeHeritage Thank you so much for that response!
Which kindle are you using?
For the kids I downloaded the kindle app to a tablet 😊
Thank you for this video! I am considering switching to Saxon for the following year so I really appreciate you taking the time doing this. By the way, where did you get the 1/2 in. graph paper notebook?
I’m so glad you found this video helpful 😊 We have purchased the graphic paper through Simply Charlotte Mason and Amazon. Amazon has a larger selection, however SCM has a downloadable option so you can print more as you need ☺️
So they have Handwriting through Literature and Reading & Spelling Through Literature. Do you do all three programs? It's a little confusing.
That index card around the house idea is golden!
How is your AO year going?
We are trying memoria press for the first time this year. Using grammar as well as literature study guides.
I love this! We just finished up our first week of school so now I plan on sharing what our schooling looks like with all the kids in the mix. I’ll be sure to share grammar 😊
Hi, i know this was recorded s ehile back. However, im hoping you can still answer my question lol I have 2 boys who are currently not liking math so im looking for somthing different, my kids hate worsheets. So when they see their mathbook (Singapore Math) the complaints start rolling in lol. I have to get creative. But im really liking these old mathbooks. I have a download of all of them that i can start using. How did you kids (and hubby) react to these old math books? The language, style, look?
Hi! My kids thought the math books were cool. The book is written to the student and is quite easy to understand. I mean really easy. When ever we would run into language that is different from what is common for today, we just used it as an opportunity to discuss the evolution of language/ dialogue. We also came to find that many other countries still speak in similar ways. The vocabulary has made it so that my children understand math language. My kids didn’t mind it. They aren’t ever excited to do math, but they aren’t begrudgingly doing it either. Which is all I can really ask for 😆 we all really like how open and go it truly is. There isn’t any pre-reading necessary and the answers are in the back of the book. With pages that have a lot of problems to solve, we would just do odd or even numbers. Honestly it’s a great place to start in order to just see what might work. I hope this helps!
Hi! I’ve been having the same issues with all in one language arts curriculums. I stumbled upon Sherry Hayes with mom delights on TH-cam. She has created some awesome resources to go along with the McGuffey readers. One is called gentle grammar, the other is called the lesson book to accompany the McGuffey readers as well as splendid spelling. I’m really excited to try all of these this year!
GREAT video...I'm also considering Memoria Press...but honestly I'm a little nervous
I think for the 2024-2025 school year we are going all in with memoria press 👀👀👀 This year it has really proven itself.
