Alan war der beste von DM. Auch wenn Martin Gore die meisten Songs geschrieben hat, der Sound war von Alan. Man hat es bei DM nur zu spät würdigen können. Macht Spaß dies zu hören und zu sehen.

I think Recoil was absolutely brilliant, far better than anything Depeche Mode ever did, apart from the songs Alan wrote when he was with them - The Landscape is Changing. Never rated Martin Gore, - I liked Get the Balance Right and that’s about it; unimpressed by their albums - never understood the fuss around Violator, I didn’t like it, or the nudity on the album sleeve, why did they think that would impress? Unsound Methods is brilliant, and Doug McCarthy a fantastic lead singer, he is on fire!! Incubus and Stalker are the music DM should have made - Alan did it on his own, and it shows his genius. I am a new fan of Recoil since last year, 2023, and I AM impressed with their albums, Alan’s, with collaboration from Doug McCarthy and various others. Atmospheric, almost short-film material. I love it. ❤xxxx

It's simple! When Alan left Depeche Mode, he took his signature sound with him. This video has Alan's signature sound, but there is no Dave's voice and Martin's lyrics. This is what we knew as the canonical Depeche Mode sound.

This is embarrassing to watch. Here we have the genius musician, that is Alan Wilder, prodding a laptop. Without him Depeche Mode would have been nothing. He did most of the production for them. Meanwhile, fletch claps (or used to) in the background. This is really sad. So are Depeche Mode since he left.
