I still remember cringing at the sound of Lightnings scrambling from one of the R.A.F. bases that we lived on during the cold war (early sixties). Due to overly sensitive ears I had as a child, the sounds of takeoff used to feel like a knife being inserted into both sides of my head, and you not only heard it, you felt everything through your skull, so plugging your ears was a wasted effort. I can't get enough of the sound now, same with the Vulcan.

The Catalina is my favorite WWII aircraft, over all the fighters and bombers! So versatile 😁 - there has even been some talk of reviving the type for modern use 🙂! Agree totally with the announcer that PBYs are a Thing of Beauty ❤!

Lovely video. I flew the PBY5A Canso in Canada in the role of a fire bomber. I also flew the DC3 in the same era. They both had R-1830 engines. The Canso was much heavier on the controls and rather unstable in it's yawing action. Great memories and super adventures across northern Canada.

If you went just by CSA it would be a F-86 slayer, like 20 years too late.

Ex Indian Air Force Gnat, all I could find is that it was built by HAL in Bangalore, Karnataka in 1967. Most likely saw action in the 1971 Indo-Pak war, retired in 1985, 1986.
