I was working on a fixture for CNCing some 1911 grips and I thought…”Hey I wonder if there is anything out there on TH-cam?” Great video. I’m also using Fusion on a Haas Mini Mill 2. In my case, I will engrave them with a fiber laser. I enjoyed the last section for us “geeks”.
Careful, a guy went to prison for gunsmithing.
do you take custome jobs? my partner and i have been trying to find someone to make some Beretta grips out. (we dont have the relevant shop tools)
Please send me an email detailing what you are looking for.
can anyone on this video help me find a mill machine which is small enough to fit in my garage
Hello, would you be willing to make a batch of SS bayonet lugs? Just the lug to weld onto another part. Thanks
What happened to your cideos....I really enjoyed them...
Thanks Bob! I have moved and my shop is in Kit form as I finish my new workshop. I hope to be back at it by the end of summer.
@@LastBastionLabs Great I will be watching for it.
This is an awesome project, thanks for sharing.
Do you sell the checkered mainspring housing? I want one!
I have recently moved and my shop is in Kit form until I can finish my new shop.
You know, I wouldn't of even thought about a bayonet lug for my shotgun. Then California said I couldn't have one. So, of course, I really want one.
You have such nice toys.
Very cool!
Good video! I have been trying to go for lighter milling cuts. Fun to watch and I get to learn. Thanks.
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Make a flat back version and your serations will be aesthetically correct.
Would you be willing to make a rear sight assembly for a Smith and Wesson Model 29-2 for me? I've been desperately trying to find it!
I have moved and my shop is in kit form right now. I will not be making anything for a while.
@@LastBastionLabs thanks for the reply anyhow!
I want to get a tormack installed into an underground bunker ❤
I used to make torx screws when I was at a rifle shop. those were quite easy with a small damiter endmill. THOSE look MAGNIFICENT!!!!!!! <3
OKAY!!!!!! Oh man, YOU the man!! I will cut mine on my Tourmach. I MUST write my own program as the scale is off. Your info is GREATLY appreciated. After I finish mine, I'd love to send some pictures. THANK YOU!!!!!
WOW!!!! I am SO A-MAZED!! I had to build this part for a 1911 that I am building in my garage shop also. I jig would have well paid off, I mislocated the spring bore. I shall make it work. Did you have to write your programs? Do you have SPRUTECAM? I wonder if there are downloadable Pathpilot type programs out there, I have a need to cut some cross pattern on the grips for my 1911. YOU gave me some excellent inspiration to do this, at the very least you gave me some great encouragement. THANK YOU!!!!
Tim great video awesome machining. Is this available for purchase? Also which bayonet will work with your design? Thanks Edwin
not until I finish my new shop. Hopping that will happen before summer starts.
I just watched the whole video without understanding any of it....
Nice work man. I am a machinist but have been paying to have my leather stamps made lol. The amount of time plus cost of material, I literally can't make it cheaper. One of these days I'll make one just because, so your tips will come in handy.
watched it all and appreciated the explanation of the surface treatments! TY
I just ordered a Tormach and love the speeds and feeds being mentioned. When you're new you have no idea where to start and what is "normal". TY
I don't think a loose fit will affect accuracy. A precision fit is mainly aesthetic
Joe's channel? No link and i didn't follow you there. nice visual touch with comment " made in America machine porn". I saw what you did there.
Such an awesome video, it was exactly what I was looking for. Thank you
Do you do custom work?
Man those are some engineering skills ! 😍😇🤗👏
Would you give us a tour of your shop, and everything you have for your 440? Please and thank you.
I would love too, but my shop is in Kit form as I am building a new shop. Please stay tuned.
Very very good video. Thank you.
It is a great honor to see our company's vice appear in the video.😁
great job and the correct machine
I wish I could understand imperial but I am a metric guy. 😂 Nice part you make there. I would have printed it with high temp filament 😅
Funny, it's hard for me to relate to metric, however there are days when it would be easier.
Congratulations, love your work
Would you be able to machine a set of copper solid grips with a smooth finish so it can darken with handling??
I could, however I have moved and my shop is in kit form while I finish my new shop. I will be hard pressed to finish by the end of this year. Thanks for watching!
Great video as usual!! What is the burgundy stopper mounted to the back of the vice with the rod sticking out to the part that you are using and where can I get one?
I was a Topcat 79-81, aboard Ike. Love seeing your work, and you rocking the proper shirt :) WTG, Aircrew! v/r AW1 Gordon Permann
I was at Topcat back in 88-92. Flew in the Bravos. Thank you for comment! AW2
This looks like it'd be something I'd love to get into when I get around to retiring. Hopefully some 3D printing experience and CAD work transfers over haha
could get that pattern by just re running the fly cutter at fast feed rates.... fyi
Very classy calling it the Jesus hole as it acknowledges the fact that Jesus should be the point of reference in our lives as far as how we should be and how we should act
I love the designs. Are we selling main spring housings? If so....I would like to place an order.
Thankyou! Not right now. I have moved and my shop is in kit form as I finish my new space.
I love curved main spring housings. I would like to buy a few of the diamond checkered ones. Please 🙏 let us know when you're available for sale.
...a monkey humping a football huh? This is the second time I have watched this video. What does that say about me?
Informative and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Subscribed! Wife unit got me 😅😂
you still recommend the 440?
Yes, I have been very happy with it. My shop was in the basement so I needed a machine I could get down there. if you have the money and space, I would recommend looking at the larger 770 or 1100
You are a great machinist.
Wow, thanks
Just found your channel. Good work I subbed. I have rebuilt a Syil X4 with a spindle and Masso. Got it running good now. Just venturing into 4th axis work. Nice parts and good accuracy. I'm not sure the Syil would be quite that good but similar. The reality is I cant manual machine better and everything I make seems to fit together nice. I was chasing better accuracy for a bit but it is what it is and if I want better I'll need to buy a far more expensive machine. That is not happening so I accept it for what it is. A thats pretty good.
Thank for subscribing! We all the the "chasing better accuracy" game. Good luck. What make the micro arc work so well is the harmonic drive. Also, you can pick up used 440's for about $6K. Best of luck.
Love the safety checks, a great spoof on so many internet RSO'S.
Nice. Also, are you the first TH-camr to use the phrase "Wife Unit"? 🤣 Rainman Ray uses that, still. 👍
I have been calling my wife that for years. I just cant add the Rev level. LOL
I was going to get a mini mill so I could do projects myself but after watching this video, I think I just need to make friends with someone who has a mill in their basement who works for scotch.
LOL that is one way to approach it. My goal with the channel is to help inspire others to join the hobby. Machining in the privacy of ones home has never been easier. I'm 99% TH-cam trained. Side note, my shop is in kit form in my garage. We moved and I am finishing my new shop in a pole barn.
