I'm building my first PC, for the GPU I'm going with the rx 7600xt 16gb. I was wondering should I go with am4 or am5? My budget is around 200$~ i was thinking of getting Ryzen 5700x3d from aliexpress
@somegenzguy , if your budget is only $200, then you would have to go AM4. If your budget is $2000? I would suggest looking into Microcenter's bundled deals and going AM5.
I have this exact one and am now considering installing Rockbox.
it will die anyway so why not
So glad these things are being hacked. They're pretty nifty pieces of hardware.
Can i just ship mine to you to get this done?
Hello, Currently I am not accepting mail ins. I am working on a way to make this easier for users to flash their devices. Once this is done. It would make it the same.
tomorrow I am going to be doing the same thing but with LineageOS 14.1 for the HTC One mini2 , the small M8 :) kinda nervous but excited at the same time >:)
How did it go? I'm thinking of doing this on my M9.
is there any other way to root verizon htc m8 other than sunshine. sunshine is rather expensive for a 10 12 year old phone. i just want to unlock the bootloader and see how good or bad it performs in 2025.
Yes, You have to go to the HTC.dev website, create an account and follow the steps in the video to unlock the bootloader
If super bird wants you to have Data.ext4 and Settings.ext4 and the non-premium zip file does not have those files in it when you unzip the file, simply rip data and settings from the factory fresh file (from the same mega download site) and put them with your OS file (or whatever you named it) and run super bird again. This worked for me and my car thing works like new!
No longer works. Development stopped in 2022 and OpenAuto company has been bought
A friend gifted me an E250; my original IPOD I bought years ago died on me; the battery itself died.
I'm having a ton of issues with the Sansa e250R. Sansa Original FW version 1.0.2.31. I loaded the unsigned USB drivers into Windows 11 64-bit successfully and now see "Sansa e250R (F:)" and I have been able to copy the .rockbox folder to the root of the F: drive. I also un-hid the hidden "system" folder also on F:. I then renamed pp5502.mi4 to OF.mi4 and placed it into the formerly hidden F:\System. I also took the same file pp5502.mi4 and copied it onto F:\ without renaming it. Maybe I originally purchased this unit as the "Best Buy" version back eighteen years ago which is causing me issues but this is a bit frustrating. It looks like the installer does little more that copy files around but for some reason the installer itself can't see my Sansa USB device. Very importantly, there is no USB Mode with ""MSC" or "MTP" option on my player. The mode option only allows for "Rhapsody" or "PlaysForSure"!
Hello @petersachs764 , 1. Plug in your Sansa, (while powered off ) press and hold the record button and the power button to force MSC mode 2. Turn device off, Switch the Hold/Lock switch on and hold the << button down during connection for around 15 seconds.
Hype
Hey, take your break! It will still be here to torment you in a couple weeks, don't worry 🙃
Just did mine its awesome
I got one of these as a gift my first Christmas in college - I was disappointed it wasn’t an iPod until I messed with it the first day and realized it had more features than an iPod and was dead simple to get music onto, especially with a microSD card. I still have it in my car, and it still work! Battery only lasts about 15 minutes though lol, but I keep it plugged in.
Daaang it has a replaceable battery... What a great piece of tech.
Best video excelent description 🎉
Does this allow the device to work after it is shut down by Spotify potentially?
@briancunningham_21 Once Spotify releases their latest app update, we can verify whether this allows the device to continue working.
The link to the jailbroken OS no longer works, do you have a new one?
@Sam-fo4sf Thank you for letting me know. I have updated the link
Nokia N8 , Xpress-Music Series , were the most superior music devices that I ever owned . Also their headphones were next levels , I could say over Samsung's AKG . On iPod Touch as well the sound was superior to iPhone , even if both were iOS devices .
DO you have a more slowed down or specific guide.?
@edwinvelez7604 I can see about slowing this down. Specific how so?
Does android auto work out of the box for you ? I wasn't able to use it via usb or wifi
@bastien0528 What device are you using? You may have to enable Android Auto in the device settings.
@DinosaurTalksTech an Nothing phone 2a, so a last generation android with a raspberry pi 3b+. When I when to connect it, it just pop up quickly the wifi connexion info box and that's it
@bastien0528 There is a possibility of the device not being supported at the moment. Try Another USB cable and a USB 3 Port on the rasp pi Also ensure that Android auto is enabled and updated on your Nothing 2a
If only the Marshall London was cheaper it would be perfect for that -Wolfson DAC -Stereo Front facing speakers -Dual 3.5mm Jacks with independant volume controls -Brass scroll wheel to control volume -APTX Bluetooth -Dedicated physical button to enter your preferred music app (Spotify or your music player)
old androids sure are better to use as a music player than buying one, the only thing i want right now is someone should make a launcher that focuses around playing music like a music player, like a music player launcher or mp3 launcher, tunes launcher you can name it anyhow, if i knew how to make an app i would've made one but sadly i don't.
LG V20 would be a good wired music player
Old androids that have DACs might be a better option, LG and Vivo had those on their phones and relatively cheap now.
Every Android device with a headphone jack _needs_ to have a DAC to convert the digital data to analog waveforms for the headphone. Because this is what DAC means: digital-to-analog converter. LG did have high quality components though, that's correct.
@@herzogatomsprengkopfensen4696 What I meant was there are phones that has good quality DACs in them. Sony is one of those who still keeps putting good DACs in their phones till this day on some of their phones.
What Vivo series is it
Probably should have mentioned audio quality. How good are their respective DACs, their file playback capability and how much can they pump out to like 300-600ohm headphone or something. That and the version Bluetooth each has, as that may affect playback quality. Though I may have just missed that last part. Phone wise I’d go with the LG series of phones with quad dacs. Decent audio quality for what you’d be getting. Older iPhones with headphone jacks could be worth it as they still have good dacs, but are likely to be more expensive with no sd card slot and limited storage to begin with. My go to is always a 5s. Small, good dac, but poor battery life. But if you’ll mostly be listening to music, it could be solid performer.
0:49 What do you mean the S3 has a fingerprint sensor??
The frick the finger print was a s5 thing
Holy shit I had one of these when I was a kid, but I could never remember what it was called to google it, I remember I reflashed it with aftermarket firmware so it could play mario and other gbc games
Good video do you self edit?
Hello @unorganized_account . Thank you, I do self edit
@@DinosaurTalksTechHey, just a few tips. Avoid using transitions like the one at 1:43-try a ripple cut into a blur or a spec list instead. Those types of transitions can feel cheap and break the flow. Also, consider using a sleek, custom font rather than a default one. Neue Plak is a great example, or something along those lines. I really liked the outdoor nature shots, but it might be cool to switch up how you showcase the devices. Try creating use-case scenarios with only video. For example, show someone listening to music on a train with the HTC One or an MP3 player. For the battery test, shooting some B-roll with a time-lapse of a head-to-head battery life comparison would be a nice touch. When you’re doing checklists, make sure to include a comprehensive breakdown of what each device does better. Also, screen recordings can really help make the devices feel more relatable. At 5:32, for instance, we couldn’t see the screen clearly. That would’ve been a great opportunity to switch environments and show the devices being used “in the wild.” Overall, it’s a strong start. There are some editing kinks to work out, but you’ve got a solid foundation to build on. I hope this helps!
@unorganized_account Thank you, I will take these tips into consideration for future videos.
Thanks for making this!! Very helpful
1:25 You call it OS, it's never a OS, the whole community call it by its name, FIRMWARE. That generates a huge confusion for no reason.
You can use ANY firmware
3:45 at this part, as the video is not even clear, nothing works like you say... run the command and you will get error while importing pyamlboot
This guide is useless now... as it was using a non final version, and everything already changed From 1:30 and on, everything changed 1:08 not there anymore
Is there a software solution that lets me create something like this but just to control the music playing on my PC? I would've liked to use the CarThing on my desk if it wasn't $400 now.
@dotaxis Are you looking for specific tools? or an already made software? You could install any version of Linux on a raspberry pi and use Python to write up a program to interact with your PC. For already made software - These turn the raspberry pi into media stream devices that runs the music. You would control it on your phone or pc. Pi MusicBox Volumio But looking for that specific functionality, I have not come across anything yet.
something had to change since you made this video because none of the dumps contain the settings file...
@toorandomenvi Thanks for Commenting this. IT appears setting file was not needed, just make sure you use the latest version of the Superbird Tool.
it does not have data.dump nor settings.dump
@@DinosaurTalksTechI am running the latest version of super bird and it still wants a settings file
I cannot seem to find the data.dump/data.ext4 it isn't included in the mega link, does anyone know how to get it?
Weird timing for this video, and also more weird it spends loads of time showing you how to install the screen which doesn't work, then also doesn't show Android Auto at all in the clip. Unfortunately there is an issue at the moment where its not connecting to the phones
I want to do something similar just need navigation as a simple unit for my bike will this work on a pizero2w and a smaller screen?
@shravankashyap9437 Yes The Pi zero 2w Should work with a smaller screen. Don't forget to modify the Display Dimensions in the setup file. Also just a reminder, depending on the screen you may or may not have touch screen functionality.
After wipe option and then format data, this message keeps showing up.. failed to mount "/carrier" (Invalid argument)
@mennaadel9986 What device are you flashing? Is the device carrier unlocked? Try wiping the cache partition then try Flashing LineageOS onto the device.
@@DinosaurTalksTech It's htc one m8, the same as the video and yeah the device carrier is unlocked. I tried several times to wipe the cache, but the same message keeps showing every time. I also tried to install the OS, but it gives me a zip file is corrupt error.
@mennaadel9986 If you are doing the OS zip over adb, I would suggest doing it over the Micro SD Card. If you are doing it on the Micro SD card, my only suggestion would be to try from the beginning of device prep to and with a different TWRP Recovery file.
God it would be amazing if a Spotify competitor released a one-click jailbreak that switched it over to another OS and streaming platform entirely. Then supported it for years.
Spotify is giving everyone a full refund for your car thing and you get to keep it get your refund and then do this
Great rundown, I've had one of these since 2006 or so and didn't know it had a drop in replacement battery Only thing is I cannot use it with the Audible Audiobook player app. It is no longer on the supported list and the list has rapidly dwindled - two of the supported players (Bones and Victor) are in the $500 to $1,000 range and most of the SanDisk are now out of stock on the SanDisk and Amazon sites. The following seven MP3 players are supported by the AudibleSync app: (compatible with .AAX file format and Audible's DRM: (Please correct me if I am wrong on this - there are Reman players available. If anyone knows how to modify a regular MP3 Player to work with Audible I would love to know). · Bones Milestone 212, and 312 · Victor Reader Stream MSC 2 and 3 · SanDisk Clip Jam MSC · SanDisk Clip Sport Plus · SanDisk Clip Sport Go
Hello @policedog4030 You’re right about the supported devices. If you want to use a regular MP3 player, you can convert .AAX files to MP3 using this tool: github.com/audiamus/AaxAudioConverter. Another option is github.com/rmcrackan/Libation. Both will require you to convert the files before transferring them to your MP3 player. Unfortunately, it’s not easy to modify a regular MP3 player for direct support. Let me know how it works out!
@@DinosaurTalksTechthank you for linking the tool, mate.
still got a brand new one in my collection. i remember jailbreaking this thing and playing super Mario when i was in class.
Can I boot from USB??, coz nothing shows from display just black screen after turning on RPi4.
@yukiamatsuri, What kind of display are you using?
@@DinosaurTalksTech 5 inch
@yukiamatsuri is it a GPIO one with HDMI or similar to the one I used in the video?
@@DinosaurTalksTech HDMI + GPIO (for touch screen)
@yukiamatsuri Try To start OpenAuto in X11 mode, open crankshaft/crankshaft_env.sh on the boot partition (that's what you see when you open the SD card in Windows) and edit the START_X11=0 line to be START_X11=1.
Will this work once Spotify bricks the whole thing?
@anakh The Day Spotify Bricks the device I will release a video answering this question. I think it will only work with older versions of the app.
I installed it , but i am getting blank black screen after plugging my phone. Any tips?
Did you click on the Android Auto button after you plugged in your phone? Is Android auto enabled on your device? Try go to Settings - apps - maps - permissions - allow location access Try Restarting your phone Update your Phone Software
@DinosaurTalksTech yes, first time I plug in requested android auto permission~, after that on my phone it says android auto is running. But on the pi it's black screen
1 time i got below error : unable to open mtp device 001,006 tried different cables as well same issue
@@dasari_manoj What Mobile Device are you using? Also have you tried Updating your Raspberry pi? If you can, Try doing a Fresh Install of the CrankShaft OS onto another SD card, Make sure you grab the OS specific to your Raspberry pi, Don't do updates or anything and see if the issue persists.
@DinosaurTalksTech I did try with a new SD card and fresh install , my phone is samsung galaxy fold 5
why is it asking for a login at the black screen?
@walexia if you enable dev_mode it will request a log in at the black screen. If you are getting this without enabling dev mode, Try to re-install the OS and let it run through its initialization
brother the first 18 minutes were unnecessary--just get into the comparison
@MaxZeuner Thank you for your comment, I will split this up next time.
what if i cant get it ti show up in fastboot devices
Try another USB port or another USB cable
you need to install a new adb/fastboot driver
@@m9wn_ i had to use some Sketchy af hyc drivers and this fastboot version from some guy on the xda forums + custom twrp
for the git clone, doesn't dev_mode have to be set to 1 otherwise it is a read-only file system?
yes, you are correct. If the dev_mode is set to 1. it would put the system into Read-Write mode. Doing so will allow you to make changes from SSH or plugging a keyboard into the Pi itself.
I found that you can set this by running "crankshaft filesystem boot unlock" and "crankshaft filesystem system unlock"
