Homelander is just superman if he supported Trump who thinks there is always a boogeyman out there
Obsessed, it's the entire opposite 😂
I think Man of Steel (MoS) and Batman v Superman (BvS) are awful movies that completely fail to depict Superman. They miss the mark by a wide margin. Zack Snyder doesn’t seem to understand what makes Superman iconic. For him, it’s all about pose and aesthetics, completely stripped of depth and soul. I’ve come to the conclusion that Jonathan Kent’s death in a tornado is one of the most misguided choices they could have made for the character. The original heart attack in the 1978 movie was a brilliant way to show that even Superman cannot fight against human nature. Superman could easily save someone from a tornado, but he can’t save someone from disease or mortality. That fundamental truth is what gives Superman his humanity-a struggle Snyder failed to convey. Instead, Snyder presented Superman as a godlike figure, without a meaningful connection to human struggles. This lack of emotional depth destroyed any chance for audiences to connect with Superman on a personal level. From that tornado scene onward, Superman ceased to be a relatable or likable character, much less a natural leader. Christopher Reeve’s Superman wasn’t just perfect-it was definitive. He set the gold standard for the character and became the reference point for every superhero. Superman is supposed to be the center of moral and emotional gravity, the anchor around which all other characters orbit. If Superman can’t embody that role, every other character in the universe loses their foundation.
WHO drew Supes like that at 4:05 ??? Incredible
I'm convinced that if Superman met Homelander it would break Clark's heart in two and his first instinct would still be to give John the other half.
6:07 this characterization was horrible on Clark's part given that he knows the relationship between Dick and his father in the wake of said father's death, but I get that your point is that he cares about Bruce
I just don't like a Spiderman who still acts like Peter Parker Even with the mask, he's still awkward and shy
The decline of the understanding surrounding Superman's character started with the writers themselves. Even some writers struggle to make flat characters interesting. Superman, a near perfect flat character, was found to be challenging to make a good story on. It does not mean that it is not possible. The best Superman iteration in modern film is not Superman, but Captain America. In addition, the most damaging addition to Superman mythos is Doomsday. Their confrontation is just a pure physical challenge for Superman, just pure spectacle in storytelling for the sake of shock value.
Marvel ruined their main character which was once the face of marvel by prioritizing and overhyped rich tech superhero with cocky attitude named iron man
The MCU doesn't understand Hulk either. I wish they came to a compromise with Universal so they could make Hulk solo movies again just like they did with Sony since they still own Spider-Man.
He’s good
Any comic suggestions? I really like your video and i have been meaning to get into his comics. Btw: the editing and the script of the video is great. Great work!!! Wait, i just realized. Santa is real. What are you talking about?
Henry Cavill's version of Superman is a *"what if he's in our real world"* variant. Zack Snyder's sattire & deconstruction. Comic - wears red trunks Reality - Nope! Comic - american way Reality - but it has to be on my own terms Comic - all good, perfect goofy boyscout Reality - depressed, doubting Comic - loved by everyone Reality - with haters Comic - unreal big red daily planet globe Reality - there's a 7/11 convenience store right there, sears & an Ihop. Comic - bright suit made by his mom Reality - dark suit made from krypton Comic - superhero zero politics & religion debates Reality - Neil degrasse Tyson is there Comic - pg-13 Reality - rated R, people curse/swear & have sex Comic - doesn't kill Reality - *"I WILL TAKE THEM ALL FROM YOU ONE BY ONE! STOP? NEVER!"*
They Understand Superman Perfectly, BUT they were trying something different on this last decade and a half because superman was already everything you are saying for almost 100 years, sometimes worked amazingly sometimes doesn't, now they are going back, and that is it
and DAV fucked up too so no hope man :(
Clark sometimes is just happy sitting on the porch back in Smallville watching the sun race down below the horizon; coloring the powder blue sky with yellows, reds and orange hues.
Christopher Reeve's superman killed his Zod and no one talks about huh?
I think this is why the Reeves Superman is so special and my personal favorite. Sure, he’s strong, but you can tell by his interactions with people that he is just a nice and caring man. He’s not an all powerful being people praise like a god. He interacts with police as if he were one of them, he solutes people, he smiles with kids. Hell, just look at the very end scene of the movie. After turning in Luthor, he waves to the warden and says “good night”. That sounds like a friend saying a goodbye rather than someone demanding respect. And you can see it in the way he smiles while flying. This is why I think this is one of if not the best version of Superman
That's literally a teacher's pet who acts like a jackass
LMAO you’re trying to tell the people who own the rights to the character, worked on Tobey and Andrew movies, knew Stan Lee personally that they don’t know their own character?!?? Buddy you sound dumb.
can't fault clark for believing santa wrapped the presents. clark came across santa unable to use the sleigh because the reindeer were sick. so clark pulled the sleigh.
Funny How Tobey's Spider-Man Felt More Like Spider-Man While Tom's Spider-Man Felt More Like Iron Man Jr Than Spider-Man
Im tired of spidey being broke when he's a genius. My issues with the mcu spidey is theres no oscorp, he's ridiculously weak, They pick the worst villains for each movie, mary jane is useless and he has no personal life drama.
Great points tbh. Such a soulless Spiderman.
0:26 Superman killed Doomsday numerous times, would willingly kill Darkseid and many others. He isn't Batman, he doesn't have "no killing rule" (not like Batman follows it perfectly either)
I love it, dude why this video didn't get more views is literally beyond me!
I'm definitely a Batman, Nightwing fan and find Superman boring, but JLA and really Smallville did the best job of showing Clark Kent and the real struggle of being Superman instead of being a Kent. Smallville showed how much he wanted to be normal. Hell, in the Crisis on Infinite Earths version of the Arrowverse the Smallville Clark had given up his powers to be a husband and father over a beacon for the world.
We had 2 gun threats at my school, but one was a kid showing off to their friend by shooting a toilet and the other a kid was involved in drugs and brought it for protection, supposedly. This was also a place where someone once drove a tractor to school.
I would it love Tom Holland’s MCU Spider-Man movies if they were based on the 1610 Ultimate Spider-Man comic book series
Bojack is good 13 reasons why is ass
Man of Steel is so misunderstood
13 reasons why should've stayed out as a book
The problem with marvel and DC cinematic universes is they don't give a shit about the legacy fans that kept these characters relevant and ultimately marketable on screen. Without the og fans investing in the comics none of this would be possible and yet when they release luke warm duds they blame the true fans instead of learning from their mistakes!
I’ve been a huge Superman fan since I was a kid I’ve always wanted to be like Superman. I’ve never been a fan of the evil Superman or one that kills I want superman vs the Elite, Superman is DC
I thought the video was gonna explain 13 reasons Bojack horseman doesn't work 😂
Spider-Man does join the Avengers in the comics, but that happens when he's in his late 20s or early 30s. In fact I think he's graduated from college, married to Mary Jane and working at Stark Industries at the time. Which is how Tony Stark eventually finds out that Peter Parker is Spider-Man. He wasn't some kid, that Tony randomly chosen to hire to help him fight Captain America. The MCU should've went with Tobey Maguire's Peter Parker/Spider-Man. When he's older, and already married to Mary Jane. In fact Peter Parker would've understood Tony's reasons for going against Steve Rogers, but he would've still chosen Captain America's side, not Iron Man's.
Bunch of crap this dude talking because Clark Kent growing up is nothing because he is not human he an alien .
You missed the point.
Ghost Rider was 12/10 kid. Deal with facts
mcu is know spiderman way better than sony. they always made storylines to make him improve himself and handle something alone despite being an avenger. You cannot compare him with other isolated spidermans, mcu spiderman is what comic spiderman i,s
I have never understood why people don't understand the glasses. I have one arm, a huge beard, and live in a town with under 2000 people and have been mistaken as new in town because I was wearing glasses.
context also makes a big difference. a lot of people would have trouble recognizing their aunts and uncles and cousins if they met them unexpectedly in a non-family setting. it does not seem at all odd that marty mcfly's parents did recognize him as calvin klein.
BOJACK!
Seeing the video age is 4 years old and hearing the show referred to in the past tense 💀😭
i know this is sooo late compared to when the vid came out, but i love the view of halfway down and i’m glad i stumbled across this. it’s my favorite episode of anything ever, probably. and i just gotta say i saw romanian subtitles on inglorious, if you’re romanian that’s extra cool and so am i :D
7:52 “leaves on the vine,… falling so slow!” -uncle iroh, from avatar the last airbender!
stan lee said himself, that tom holland was his exact vision of spiderman.
Thing is, Invincible isnt about if Superman was evil, it's asking what would happen if Superman had an evil dad. Mark is Superman, despite the lack of a cape. I guess it's what if Superman's dad was General Zod, minus the Gods and Monsters thing?
Andrew had the Bridge scene in his first film, and Tobey had the train scene in his second film. Tom needs his equivalent to these scenes.
I always hated the Jesus imagery people use with Superman. If anything, he should be compared to Moses.
My mother is dead, and everything is worse now
1:37 No, It's The Best 🤗.
The view from halfway down is the best anti suicide poem ever. That shit is something you never forget.
The MCU does understand Spider-Man. There was already 2 other Spider-Men on film… it needed to be similar but different. Hell kevin Fiege literally worked on the Raimi trilogy. I’m all for these video essay’s/critiques but not over silly topics. “Matt Reeves doesn’t understand Bruce Wayne” there’s a reason why The Bruce Wayne is different in that franchise. The only valid critique that spawned from this video was someone mentioning how MCU is taking too much identity from Miles Morales origin, which is true.
