I personally love them. I had knee surgery and have a wide right foot, and I am not finding a comfortable dress shoe under $500 anyway. These fit like a glove and look great as well.

The quality of the material looks excellent, but the collar proportions are all wrong for a proper OCBD.

It would be difficult to find even a single photo of JFK wearing Gucci loafers because he didn’t wear them. Instead, JFK favored G.H. Bass Weejuns and Brooks Brothers/Peal loafers. While Jackie Kennedy occasionally wore Gucci loafers, JFK himself was not among Gucci's famous devotees. I got them second and also got the same design from G.H bass brand new... they're nice shoes and wouldn't judge anyone for spending that much, however I prefer the Larson pair over Gucci

I heard that Gucci will resole their own shoes for free as long as you can show (1) a receipt/proof you bought the loafers from an authorized retailer and (2) haven’t had them previously resoled by another cobbler. Worth to check by email. 2ndly, you can put topy covers on sole at local cobbler and don't worry about wear of sole for 2-3 years. If you want the brown one, check Carmina Horsbit XIM. I have black Carmina and brown Gucci - both colors covered for less. And lastly, it Blake construction, not Goodyear

I got a pair of Gucci horse bit loafer last year. I did not go with the 1953 after trying both on and found the non-1953 to fit my slightly wider feet better. The sole is also thicker than the 1953 version and structurally maintain their shape better. I love my pair as it is the OG. Even though the price is on the high side but I believe once I get the OG, I don't need anything else and it will save me money in the long run. As for how to style them, I figure if you are wearing a pair of OG Gucci Horse Bit loafers, nothing else matter even if you wear them with suits or shorts. Haha.

I have the BL063 dress boot for women. I am either buying the black 585 or getting them for Christmas.

They have held their value well, still going for around $900 used.

I picked up a pair of iron rangers about a year ago. I was surprised how well they fit, the heel is slim which I like and there is room in the vamp area for my toes. The break in period was pretty painless, they broke in pretty fast with no blisters or sore feet. I really like these boots, it made it into my weekly rotation so they see action at least once a week. My only negative is the sole, the boot lacks a midsole so it doesn't offer as much shock absorption as some of the other boots I own. I plan on remedying that problem when they wear down enough for a resole. I'm going to customizing the boot by adding a thick midsole and a vibram lug sole, that will make these boots a great hiking or walking boot. The Iron Rangers are a great looking quality boot that will hold up over time and are easily resoleable or customized. Other brands that are a little higher quality (they have a midsole so walking in them is a bit better) but also a little higher priced would be Grant Stone, Parkhurst, Truman amongst many other brands.

After buying a bunch of Thursday boots, I kept looking at Iron rangers. I eventually bought these and I am getting rid of all my Thursdays, there's a big difference between them and Iron rangers. I legit doubt the the Thursday boot reviews now. They have a very high heel and they became super uncomfortable after a while, whereas iron rangers keep getting better.
