    I see this happened 4 years ago. I don't think it's the job for you anyway. . . you said you didn't like being away from home or being with people you didn't know. . . . .and the stress. Also, there could be many times when you are on a layover by yourself, on holidays, or other days, when you are an extra on a trip and everyone else is on a different ID or they are home. There is stress in the job, you are away from home with strangers for days. Lose the word "like". . . . they don't go for that. I flew for 30 years. Yes, there were retakes, but it has to be done perfectly, even though you said "it was for something small". . . . it wasn't small - it was your retake. Believe me, I understand the nerves. Also, did they tell you that you have to go through this every year?

    And here I am, I failed my 777 and have already used my lifelines/retake from the Airbus. It's super super stressful when you have to retain all the info from one aircraft configuration to another plus also doing online homework at the same time and proficiency checks/drills at the same day with the exam. I am devastated because I am only 2weeks away from graduationg but they sent me home. I passed my drills and OE and simulated flight but its the 777 that's my downfall.

    So sorry about your experience. The first year is horrible Where are you from? Apply with Allegiant Air. You don't have to have a crashpad. When they hire, they are base specific. We have a base in Mesa I believe We don't have the long layovers, BUT we get all the same travel benefits. I think for you starting out Allegiant would be perfect. You don't have to leave home. you're on reserve at home, so no crashpads, you're not commuting. Think about it. If your still flying and happy with your airline, that's great. @thalexinator5050 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you♥️ I am still here 1.5 later, and going forward. I was determined for this career, but as a person nobody really understands a job (especially this one) until your living it and actually doing it. It’s not as great as everyone makes it out to be, in my honest opinion. Airlines are crazy how they get away with so much stuff and it’s sad bc they make their employees scared to speak up and use their voice and threaten them it’s their job that they’ll lose, so nobody says a single thing. I’ve been meaning to make another video of 1.5 in update, but I hardly have the energy anymore or something comes up. Hopefully I can make one and upload soon. Best advice I can give you, is always take care of you first. The job seems great, but theirs a lot of time your away from birthday, holidays, emergency events, etc and you won’t ever get that time back. So find a grounding in a good job if anything like that is important to You, bc after you sign up w an airline it almost seems like you sign half your life away if you’re gone all the time(ESPECIALLY IF YOU COMMUTE,I do). Not worth it to me, I rather work 3 12 hour shifts. But I’m continuing this job until I can get myself in a better career. Thanks for your positive comments, it’s been really nice to read someone who sheds some light on me and my videos. I get alot of hate so your genuiness means alot to me. ♥️ I’m rooting for you!!!

    I am an ex-flight attendant (I flew internationally as a flight attendant and flight purser for over 12 years). The first thing I wish to say is that you are a lovely, thoughtful young lady with your entire life ahead of you. When I was about your age, I began applying to airlines and I was turned down by four. I did not give up; I learned from the experience and kept working toward improvement. Often the airlines do not tell you why you have been turned away. In your case, it is disappointing to be turned away at the last moment, but you can learn from it and move on; you will be stronger as a result. F/A training is highly stressful. You are not only required to learn a huge amount of information in a short time, but you are also prone to being stressed by your own classmates; each of them is competitive. As noted below, hesitation can cost lives in an accident or other emergency. Your decisions must be immediate in such situations. In an emergency, strong leadership is essential. What may have seemed like a minor error/omission to you, could be major in an emergency. You know what happened. Learn from it and move on. If you are serious in your desire to become a flight attendant, you will get there. I have a friend in British Airways who applied 10 times to the same airline. He was turned down (at various stages) 9 times. On the 10th try he succeeded. The ONLY difference from people who succeed and those who do not, given that they are essentially suited to the position or desire they seek, is that the former never give up. You are up to this -- your scores were high and you completed the training. You just need to work on decision making. If you were a patient asking your physician for a prognosis, and he responded: "Well...I think that is what's wrong with you...but I'm not sure," you wouldn't feel very confident about this doctor, would you? If a passenger asks you for oxygen, you would be the one who had to decide whether they needed it -- you can't use vital oxygen supplies (your walk around supplies, for example, after a decompression) just on a whim, because a passenger thinks they need it. You must quickly decide what is required. If a passenger has a heart attack, you need to quickly acquire the defibrillator and while the defibrillator program will decide if it's the correct situation, you don't want to hesitate preparing to use it -- and lose the passenger. As a trainer, I have seen flight attendant candidates who are afraid to jump out of the aircraft -- they hesitated (and behind them, lives would be lost). So, enough said. Keep learning keep applying, and remember your cross checks! You'll be onboard soon.

    Does mainline allow you to have certain health issues?

    • @thalexinator5050
      @thalexinator5050 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mainline or Regional = They are the Same, any airline is. They can’t disqualify you as that’s illegal but being a flight attendant your main responsibility is being there for not only YOUR own safety, but others as well. This includes: the pilots, your co workers, yourself, and the passengers of the aircraft. If you cannot take care of yourself or be in good health, you cannot take care of others which is a big thing you’ll hear multiple times in this industry starting it and moving forward. It’s a very good conversation to have with your doctor or those who might deal with the same health concerns and see if they’ve got into something as a flight attendant and if it would be a good fit for you or someone you love.

    I know this is a older vid, seems like things are going better for you now judging from your recently uploaded video. I did see a union woman speak about airlines paying flight attendants poverty wages, whereas they are offering pilots well over six figures to start. I researched this and I'm speaking of Regional's too. 20+K annually would not even pay bills in 1970! Absolutely unacceptable. All of you flight attendants work so hard and probably endure many unpleasant passengers, long days, lack of proper rest, etc. It seems in order to make a decent living you need decades of seniority. I think everyone that flies as a passenger should watch videos like this and read comments from your colleagues, and think about the ultimate respect you all deserve the next time they fly. God Bless you!

For now I’m staying but it gets more tempting every month to jump ship so I definitely feel that with you. Hope to hear more and maybe see a layover blog sometime! Fly safe!

Work smarter, not harder!😌 Regionals should be just a couple bucks underneath us mainline people IMO, but I hope one day they can make it fair across the board. We all board, deplane, and pick up trash the same exact ways (& our Saftey duties of course!😉) Now is the time, mainline is hiring like crazy. Thanks but I’m not type 2. I’m a forever diabetic and not by choice. My disease is incurable unfortunately. I’m not on here asking for recommendations. I’ve been living with this disease 13 years. I think I’d know better than anyone. Lll

    I was a F/A for many years, training is no joke. You not only have to study, and study more, you have to nail your test and finals. Each airline is different, they are not only watching your grades, but your interactions as well. They are watching the way you handle new situations, how you handle the stress, how fast you can change or understand how to be accommodating. She gives you a a small window into what to expect. My advice is be prepared to be somewhere, you know no one, deal with your roommates get along it is never a perfect situation and you will not like everyone you are around period!!!! (You control this) when you pass and get online you again will fly with others you may not care for, its like any other job. If you are missing home, miss it for your 7 weeks, do not allow other factors to feed your stress from the outside, this is important. (Everyone feels alone during training, you feel venerable, and stressed.) it is part of the process. It's okay, stay calm. I wish you all the best in your endeavors...It is worth it, stick it out hold your head up and STUDY....Good luck and hopefully you will be out there seeing the country and world via a jumpseat.

    Sorry to hear about your experience! Southwest has the best path for employees! Pay and benefits!! Better then even some of the big carriers!! Even if you have to start as a gate agent first they hire internal!!

    That just happened to me and my class graduated this morning! 😢💔 In my case, I went home because I had already had had two retakes. I miserably failed the test by four questions! It was so heartbreaking for me, especially since I only had five days left for graduation. But I am so glad I was able to make some very special friendships and I am genuinely happy for my classmates who graduated this morning. I’m just hoping they’ll invite me again next year. Anyway, glad you’re not giving up either. Good luck to you sweetheart!
