@myotherlinefishing I was a freshman in high school when we took a family trip. We drove from New Hampshire to Alaska. Five of us in a station wagon, with a tent on the roof. The Alkan was all gravel then. My sister lived in Soldotna, on the Kenai Peninsula. Trip of a lifetime.

Yea on BLM land. It’s all over the place across the highway (south) from the river. A quick Google search will show you the area. East of Jenks Lake.

We didn’t stay in a campground. Dispersed Camping is allowed in that area in certain places. Make sure to read the online rules and regulations for campfires in that area too, they are pretty strict. Thanks for watching!!! 🤘🏼

I don’t know if it has a name. It’s just west of Coon Creek Cabin Group Camp. Hope that helps. Go to www.freecampsites.net and you’ll find it easy.

So how was your trip? You able to make it?

Dragging on bottom is snag city. Gotta bounce your lure or bait just off the bottom. Even then snagging happens a bit. Top of the water column works well there too with the right lure.

Thank you! It’s funny, I hear that a lot. Tons of people, including when I am there fishing, tell me that they had no idea you could fish in the national park like that. They have weird rules for each body of water and each river so I just by default always use barbless hooks and always release the fish. But there are lots of places you can keep the fish if you want to. Go to the spots in the video. Those are my “go to” places. I wanted to try May Lake but didn’t have time. Also, below Hetch Hetchy dam I hear has big Browns. Good luck! Thanks again for watching!

Dude, that’s crazy! I keep hearing people catching them down here this year which is weird to me. 🤷🏼‍♂️. Been rocked a couple times but nothing I couldn’t handle. Don’t think I would use it in deeper waters. But shore pounding seems fine so far lol.
