A buddy of mine was looking for some speakers. It just so happened that I was salivating oven an auction for a pair of JBL XPL 90's. Knowing how XPL 200's sound I agreed with my buddy that I'll bid on the XPL 90's and if he'll like them I'll sell them to him - if not I get to keep them. After standing in the corner for over a good year I hooked up some cables to the electronics setup that I had prewired a long long time ago, grabbed a miniDSP UMIK-1, used my hand as a tripod for taking measurements, inputted some basic delay, had REW generate some EQ for the horn, bass, and overall and voila - I can listen to loud music again! I'm building this one to drive my big 2-way horn speakers. There is still quite a bit of work ahead to ensure it works correctly with no ground loops and all that but once it's gonna be finished it will be a beast. A lot of processing capabilities, enough power and great volume control should do the trick.

In this video I briefly explain what components I used to drive my 2-way active studio monitor speakers. After upgrading compression drivers to Radian 950's and redesigning the electronics chain with new amps and a passive preamp for volume control I feel I have achieved a really believable and well balanced sound that can be enjoyed even in a room with no acoustic treatment. What did you Set the crossover to?
I forget where its at currently but it must be somewhere around 450-500Hz with some steep filters - could be even 48dB - whatever is the steepest possible filter on a miniDSP 2x4HD with Dirac :)
with the 950be how do you find the over 10khz region?

I immediately recognized the song, and in fact sang it at a high School band concert where I was Assistant Principal. Those are some impressive speakers. I particularly like how you could hear the horns as the camera approached them. I am sure they could kick some serious rear end!. .I'd love to hear Lucky Man on those.

delay bass driver ? usualy its tweeter needed to dely. on you placement of mid/high i would say its almos perfect without any delays

gratuluję, czy Beyma 15B100R-GH ma piankowe zawieszenie , czy to jest coś bardziej zbliżonego do gumy ? Jak nisko schodzi ten głośnik ?
Trudno powiedzieć. Macałem, przyglądałem się. Nie jest to taka klasyczna pianka, nie jest to chyba też guma. Sprawia wrażenie pianki sprasowanej. Materiał raczej nie ma jednak znaczenia - sprężystość ma. Bo są gumy mięciutkie, są gumy grube, sztywne, są pianki miękkie, a są i twarde, sztywne. Po materiale się nie dojdzie.

@@leopoldpompka Nie odpowiem dokładnie. Ja działam na DSP, więc mnie charakterystyka samej paczki aż tak nie interesuje. Wiem, że jest idealna dla tego głośnika, chyba zgodnie z notą katalogową producenta 140 czy 170L. Ja stroję procesorem minidsp z DIRAC LIVE na miejscu odsłuchowym na zadaną krzywą charakterystyki częstotliwościowej. Do od 30Hz do 20kHz mam dokładnie taką charakterystykę, jaką chcę mieć do wysokich poziomów głośności. Na bardzo wysokich poziomach jest już kompresja na basie - mogę osiągnąć XMAX i wtedy popierduje ;) ale to musi być już debilnie głośno. Poniżej 30Hz raczej nie ma sensu ich cisnąć, generalnie jest jednak mega kozacko. Dlatego nie mam weny nic zmieniać od lat w hardwarze - bo gra tak, że przestałem mieć wenę do zmian. Streaming z Tidala, dryneczek w dłoni i jest elegancko.
How did you get the six Khozmos in konjunktion? When you turn one that the other 5 turn simultaneously?

terrible sound
More like a terrible waterproof iPhone case that distorts the mic ;) They sound pretty good IRL. I'm a big fan of the XPL series - great sounding speakers.

All fab. But use a better pre amp. Had 2 Rotel, they sound not so good .try a tube balanced circuit.
Wish I could! I don't have this system anymore. In regards to the electronics setup shown in this video - it was certainly not all that great to say the least. But it worked :).

I owned these for several years in the 70's and the dynamic slam in the bass and mid bass was something I would never forget along with the incredible realistic midrange. The speaker imparted a realism as if transported to hear the Bee Gees harmony in your room in person. Simply no compression of the signal and effortless in its presentation. The only problem is it really needed a huge space to image properly. I think they weighted about 180 pounds each.!! I also am a semi pro trombone player of 40 years and did use them in disco's as well back then with many dancing to their tunes just Loving Them.

JBL 4344 is Heaven.
One thing that always baffles me about "audiophiles" is their propensity to put THE most expensive electronic gear ON THE FLOOR! What-the-HeLL, why-the-HeLL? Dust, dander and debris lives on the ground so why park your high-end amps and prized electronic equipment there? Remind me to never buy pre-owned audio gear from guys like this... I guess they think it looks cool.
It was only there temporarily - we were measuring channel matching to verify how well the pots were balanced. They were balanced great.
