    That is gorgeous finishing work. I just finished a clone L300, with custom charge coupled crossovers... love the classic JBL sound!

    You did the audioheritage site proud with these! They turned out incredible! I followed your build - drooling all the way! I still like the 4343's! Call me old fashioned, I don't care.. DogBox

      XPL!..? You been talking to Rob? (AH.org) What made you venture there? I sort-of understand but i'm still stuck in the 43xx era! The Project Everest DD55000 OR! DD66000!!! now there's a B-U-I-L-D! You got a XPL?

      Thanks! I guess you can say I am proud with what I achieved in the documented build.. There is a but though. The moment I am satisfied with the result I seem to decide it is time to move on to another project. Hence the more recent 2-way build th-cam.com/video/hTMj7llFIFI/w-d-xo.html which is actually once again finalized and satisfying to listen to. Creative juices are urging me to keep on keeping on.

    You did an amazing job! I want to build something like this someday. Maybe not build an exact JBL model but something inspired by them using some of their drivers. and utilize the aesthetic. I just love that blue on walnut look.

    Beautiful, beautiful, lots of work, gorgeous wood. My friend has an original working pair of these, but the wood hasn't been re-finished. The mid-range driver in the original has no dust cone; it just looks like a dish. JBL must have figured the type you've got was a better sonic match with the other drivers. Based on listening to his, I know yours must sound FANTASTIC, especislly with what they're hooked up to. Congrats!

    • @maciejstalmach
      @maciejstalmach  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your comment. I'm guessing your friend has some iteration of 4343 like these: th-cam.com/video/JFkkJ4bDy8w/w-d-xo.html
      Mine were a "hybrid" clone with the same woofer as 4343/4344 and similar top 3-way arrangement to the 4344 mk 2. All in all they are similar beasts. I will comment though on the electronics you saw in my vid - they are far from optimal or even good when it comes to bringing blue JBL's to their fullest. Tubes are definitely the way to go.
      I don't have them any longer as I'm the kind of person that has to switch things up just for fun. My current gear looks like this: th-cam.com/video/NXPcnTKr42g/w-d-xo.html
      Cheers, Maciej

    • @warrenmacdonald1372
      @warrenmacdonald1372 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your current gear must sound surreal in that room! I'll bet that organ hits 25 Hz at 1 spot! I checked out the other link, and my friends speakers are EXACTLY like yours except with a white-coloured dish-shaped midrange driver (same metal surround). I notice yours are Mk II. Maybe Mike's are Mk I, would that be possible? I was with him when he bought them about 23 years ago, they were bought used, but wuth the same drivers you've got ( except the midrange like I said, and no grills). If I wanted to get grills for them could you tell me where I might get them ( would make a nice birthday present )?!

    • @maciejstalmach
      @maciejstalmach  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't think any 4344 should have white cones - Hard to tell whats up with that. With regards to the grilles - I think your best option on the grills is to commission their construction to a capable carpenter. Plans can be found here: dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/53274548/4344-Final.rar

      Thanks so much for the PDF. I know a carpenter who may be willing to undertake the building, of the grilles, and nice work and photos of your own, project. Thanks for your help again!

    • @maciejstalmach
      @maciejstalmach  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      If it wasn't for that PDF I would have never made my clones. That and the extensive guidance from Lansing Heritage forum members. Everyone there gives everyone else as much as possible, so I strive to live up to the culture of the JBL fan community. Other than the carpenter you will also need some navy blue grille cloth and you can also order replica grille badges - it will make the whole deal pretty much indistinguishable from the original.
      Cheers mate!

  • @inmatejason
    @inmatejason 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Your ported air holes look wrong, do the originals come sanded like that as well? It sort of gives it a plastic look. Otherwise amazing job, how does it compare sound wise to the real thing?

    • @maciejstalmach
      @maciejstalmach  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Calling them clones sure was an overstatement. There were differences here and there for sure. Personally I preferred the router rounded ports visually. Not sure how you're getting a plasticky vibe from that bit - maybe because the ports are actually PVC pipes LOL. I never hear originals so can't compare.

      Roughly 3500USD which is about 4300EUR. Labor is cheap here in Poland so the cabinets didn't cost me an arm and a leg. The speakers were purchase for market prices from all around the world. Same with all of those badges, grille pegs, pot knobs and what not.
