    You should contact oh great! Maybe he can give you some crazy idea about a realistic desing he used in the manga 😅 so far, your desing gets more and more close to the boueprint we see at the beginning of the anime. Maybe he actually put lot of thought about how can skates like this really work?

    this is a cool video and design but i think that remote control adds an unnecessary amount of danger. what happens if you drop it and the accelerator gets stuck? is there a way to ubplug the motors in an emergency like that? is there a way to disconnect the remote? i think a wired remote (or at least a wrist strap) and a touch confirm that turns off the motors, like on a lawn mower or a laser tag gun. also e-brakes could be a good idea, you could use brake pads that start up against the back of the boot and turn down into the concrete. not sure how much more effective that would be than motor braking or t-stops tho, if itd be worth the extra bulk

    They could be very practical if they can clip into regular shoes quickly. Slip on the blades and ride around city/campus/work, clip them off and put them in your backpack, where the battery was also located

    • @collinbardini

    Totally cool design...would be interested in the files. My thought in regards to one rollerblade taking off when lifted would be possibly having a ground disconnect/microswitch under your heel which cuts power to the blade when raised... also id use a single dual motor controller... the advantage to 1bms vs 2 is you can have higher voltage and amp as well as weight savings...

    • @collinbardini
      @collinbardini 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The skates use regenerative breaking to stop. It can brake quickly, but not instantaneously so I usually account for stopping distance. If I really need to stop fast I can also T-stop or hockey stop.

    Amazing work! 24mph is insane. Would it be possible to develop a 'gear' system which could trigger depending on the speed of the wheels rather then using a motor? So it gets harder for the skater to push but allows for higher speeds like a Bicycle?

  • @Thundrblade
    @Thundrblade 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    hey, nice build! love that you could get a very low resistance even using belts. question though: did the gear on the side of the wheel scraped the floor? I see the you made a very thin gear so itmay not be a problem, so I was just wondering what was your experience.

    • @collinbardini
      @collinbardini 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks! The pulley was a large consideration for this design because I was concerned about it contacting the ground. I am pleased to say it has not been a problem. The skates can get to a 30 degree angle before contacting the ground. Additionally, the pulley is on the outside because I tend to make tighter inside turns.

    They look a lot better and go twice as fast as a brand that I've seen available that makes electric skates (frame attachment). Well done! I'm really excited to see how this technology progresses over the years. I'd love it if by the time I'm too old to skate much if I could have some electric skates which weighed the same and also looked the same. Maybe if we get bearing size hub motors and solid state batteries we could have electric skates that are completely indistinguishable from non electric skates like we sort of have with bikes

    would putting another motor to drive the front wheel be something doable?

    • @collinbardini
      @collinbardini 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This would be technically possible, but I don’t think there would be much benefit. You would get more torque, but there would be twice as much hardware, which would be heavier and cost more.

    • @eyyyKim
      @eyyyKim 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This was something I was thinking of... Using the actual man power to charge the battery. Kinda like taking your foot off the accelerator in a hybrid car and it goes "green/eco mode" to charge the battery

    • @collinbardini
      @collinbardini 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This is definitely possible! The skates have regenerative breaking right now so you would just lay on the breaks as you skate. Regenerative breaking isn’t very efficient (maybe 10%) so you won’t get a lot out of it, but it’s better than nothing! Going downhill is where it makes the most sense imo

    Definitely being reminded of Escend (with the two wheeled arrangement) and AtmosGear (with your powering of each blade with the pack and wires to each leg). 😉 It's nice to see you able to flow in some way without power, plus slot in regular wheels like normal inlines too!
