Make your own instrument with a 70's organ sample
In this video I create a sample instrument in Ableton’s Sampler by using something from an old vinyl record. If you want to create your own instruments, follow along and I’ll show you how simple it can be in Ableton. Doing small sound design sessions help me to stay creative and create my own palette of sounds without the pressure of creating a finished song. Time stamps below!

Grabbing individual drum hits from 90’s hip-hop!

In this video I go back to mid-90’s hip-hop and sample drum hits and a stab and turn that into a uptempo beat. The track I sample is Hold It Down (1995) from Das EFX and this track -produced by Easy Mo Bee- features some gritty and noisy drum hits that are open and easy to grab. • @goflowbeatz2510

    🔥⛽ one of the best videos on youtube explaining how to use old MPCs. sampling a note from a synthesizer changes everything, I find it gives a coherent groove and swing, instead of sampling a melody loop. What I've been doing lately is sampling a note from a vst instrument (piano, lead, bell,...) usually the note C, with the Auto-Chromatic Assignment feature in MPC 2500, Samples can now be automatically assigned chromatically to the drum pads. The 64 drum pads,(PAD A01 - D16) will correspond to a note range of 35 - 98 on a MIDI keyboard. Personally, I'll never compose in a daw again, just to record at the end, even if I do Trap.

      As a layer this creates some movement you would have in a perfectly looped sample.

  • @Lofyne
    @Lofyne 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    This sounds good, although I don’t think reversing the sound to create the loop is the best option. Because you’re using a section where it fades out, and then fades in during the reverse part. If you were to crossfade half the sound over itself without reversing it, the level would be more consistent. As the fading out section would be covered by a louder section of the sample fading in over the top. The E-MU Emulator 4 series samplers from the 90s are the best for this. Sample a couple of seconds of a sound and it will automatically trim the sample, normalise it, auto crossfade loop it (set to a specific section of the sample such as the last half, quarter etc), and map it across a keyboard. Depending on the sample, you may get a tremolo sounding loop, but it’s always a really smooth loop regardless. The process only takes a few seconds. So if it doesn’t work the first time, you can try it again with a different crossfade length.

    • @klankenkabaal

Your pad playing hand raises higher than your button pressing hand, notice how the 2000XL screen is on the left, with pads and screen in line your pad playing actually obscures the screen, the 2000XL is ergonomically the greatest pad sampler ever created. This is why I prefer it over the 4k which is technically better. And the 3k is better in ways too but it's the ergonomics of the 2kxl for, it is very close to perfection in thar regard.

    I was about to slap a Limiter on my master track until I remembered I was watching a TH-cam video 😉 Haven't really explored Roar yet, and wouldn't have started with drums, so this was inspiring, especially that trick of just having the feedback play the fourth bar, going to experiment some with that.
