    Ashland - Very quaint little city. Bon Air - LOVE this area. Drive there a lot. Chester - I went to school there (Thomas Dale) and everything you mentioned is great. I also went to Enon Elementary! Sibley’s is awesome. So is K&L. I grew up in Enon. Glen Allen - That new Sports Centre. Also those West Enders… -_-() Don’t forget about Avery Point - that new senior community nearby. Mechanicsville - Don’t get up here that often. But I do like the fact it is quiet. I’ve seen that stone mill many times. Ginger Red is a fabulous place to eat. Midlothian - One of my personal choices if I had my ‘druthers. Chesterfield Towne Center I adore. I remember when St. Francis was built. Seen many of those restaurants and been to the Downtown location of ML Steak. Varina - I. Love. This. Area. It’s calm and quiet and - you forgot the Dorey Park Farmer’s Market. My personal favourite. Portabella is nice. Route 5 into Richmond is such a lovely drive. Thanks for the info!

    I own dozens of properties in richmond and am proud to say I was a big player in turning the city from a ghetto to a decent place. Over the last 10 years the pink and blue hairs have once again showed up to destroy it with retarded food and property taxes. So much waste in the city, racism against productive high IQ people and the crime is a disaster. Vote the losers out.

    Prices are going up to live here, but benefits are not really expanding to meet the growing population of well-heeled citizens. I will give an example of Fairfax, Virginia as a comparison. If you live in Fairfax, particularly Reston, you get pool membership to all the pools, for a low fee, if any. These are not just holes in the ground, some are 50 meter olympic. Pay taxes in Fairfax, and you get all the health clubs for free. Plenty of options, and you can pay up for more. In the video, many other issues were mentioned, such as pro sports. We just tried to improve that by adding horse racing, but in typical Richmond fashion, it's a "family" venue. They put it in New Kent County, an impossible drive, and a brutal $50 ride share away from town. Traffic : being a lifer here, I can tell you, crossing the river used to be only for workers commuting to the city. So West End residents would live here forever and not cross the river. Now we have this epidemic of suburb to suburb river-crossing commuting that I just don't understand. If you ever use the WIlly Bridge or Huguenot Bridge, you know what I mean. It makes no sense that those routes are over-crowded, and now heavily policed, unless the metro area has just exploded with new residents that can afford a lot of non-essential travel. If focus was placed on useful development on all sides, I would think the cross-town traffic would abate, return to what it was for my first 40 years. The Stony Point fashion park never should have been built; not sure how much longer it survives, but when you drive by it, you are bound to wonder, why these long highways with residential speed limits that go to nowhere, and yet are crowded with people?.

      Great feedback, @BrisLS1! Your life-long roots in Richmond give you lots of credibility. Having moved here from the DMV, I immediately noticed the traffic was MUCH lighter...but I know that's relative. Interesting details about pool and health club membership in Fairfax. Thanks for sharing these insights!

    Is rent to own still a thing? If so can you explain more about this option.

    • @MyBestLifeInRVA
      @MyBestLifeInRVA 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Good question! For the last three years, it's been a Seller's Market -- the demand for homes has exceeded the supply, driving up sale prices (and competition). In a Seller's Market, sellers don't have much incentive to offer a "Lease to Own" option. (They would rather sell the home and pocket the cash.) But the market is shifting. Inventory of available homes is climbing, and homes are sitting on the market longer. That means buyers are regaining leverage. As that happens, sellers who have difficulty selling their properties outright will be more open to "Lease to Own" deals. Does that make sense? If you want to discuss further, feel free to text me at (804) 551-4449. Happy to help in any way I can!

    Richmond, Virginia for years in my living memory was known for inexpensive housing that was a good value A lot of people went to Commonwealth University and made ties to the people down there because of the Social human development programs and artistic programs down there, especially in dance Now that the cost of housing is being raised through buyers pressure, I think the appeal of Richmond might be right priced As you pointed out, you’re not gonna find a variety of people other than angry African-Americans and gentrification of the Caucasian mainstream and then old-time residence Richmond shares a lot with Baltimore, Maryland except Richmond has a smaller population is better run and has a better chance to gentrify the right way. The scale of economies gives Richmond a fighting chance From my experience, Richmond will have heavy industry right next to urban neighborhoods so it has Places of poor curbside appeal I’ve spent a little bit of time in Richmond and it would not be for me I’ve known 30 people from the Washington DC Air who relocated to Richmond because that’s all they could afford I do know somebody who’s out in Salem Oregon that should move back to East Coast wants to go to Richmond, Virginia as a first preference I don’t know if they’re gonna find the Richmond that they envisioned to be there when they come back

    City if Richmond leadership is 100% inept amd very poor at city management. That is no secret. The only reason my wife and I are still here is because we live near Forest Hill Park and we live our neighbors and park. We dont have kids and we are older with, fortunately, decent jobs. I have nonidea how young adults deal with living costs these days. All that said. Its a co stant vattle if dealikg with terrible costs, taxes, and getting zero in return, vs the neighborhood and parks

    Short Pump…. I do everything in my power to avoid that area…. I am telling you there is NOTHING relaxing about Short Pump. Henrico is east and west even though it is the same county no consistency in the county. One part is more rural and country the other is like Arlington DC without being DC ha

    The city of Richmond can be a very dangerous place. The school system is horrible and constantly under performs. It's a democrat controlled city thus it is managed terribly. The mayor instructed the police department to stand down during the 2020 riots.

      I'm intentionally trying to keep this channel neutral when it comes to politics, but Richmond has a complex history. For anyone interested in a great book, I recommend "Richmond's Unhealed History" by Ben Campbell. Packed with great insights!

      @@MyBestLifeInRVA I understand that you don't want to alienate some of your customer base. However, I'm speaking from a factual perspective. The schools are among the worst in the state, the infrastructure is terrible and crime is extremely high everywhere in the city.

    I know some people are looking to leave Virginia, if you like to make friends and be part of a multicultural community, think twice before going to Virginia. Especially if you're coming from like California or New York and you used to making friends easily good luck in Virginia. Now I heard this not just from one person or from many people that move there especially if you're not part of the good old boy club you know what I mean. If you want to be left alone with no friends I want it quiet and boring life have at it. And don't get mad at me I'm just telling you what other people told me.

      @wannabemgtow2540 Thanks for sharing these insights. Virginia has a reputation for "southern hospitality," but it can be pretty superficial at times. And there are definitely some contexts where you'll feel like an outsider if you're not part of the "good old boys" club. But here's one really cool exception. There's a workout group in Richmond called the November Project that has created an amazingly diverse and inclusive community. I did a video on this group earlier this year -- I think you'll be impressed at what they are doing! Here's the link: th-cam.com/video/4Iou55KtIJY/w-d-xo.html
