It's not realistic psychiatry but you get why he'd be a bit fucked up by that. And that's without finding out about Gwen after (even if Conway forgot).

It gets overlooked but Harry's grief over Gwen's death at Norman's hand is a major factor in his (final) Green Goblin arc under JM DeMatteis. It's not just that he's living in Norman's shadow and grieving him, he's also failing to cope with the Great and Good Norman killing his oldest friend who did nothing wrong. How can Harry become the great man his father embodied, when said man hurt all the people Harry cared for? Well maybe he can if it was all a nasty lie by Spider-man whose the real culprit here. I'm not sure if JMD remembered the length of friendship when he wrote that story, since I don't think it's until Untold Tales that their early friendship is acknowledged, but I'm glad he got to delve into it and show Gwen's character. I think JMD enjoys writing complex female characters and between Gwen, May and Emily this mini shined with them. It was Slott who bought Emily back (kind of randomly) but though it is a bit of a stretch, I'm happy that JMD got to take advantage of that to explore her. I never bought the idea that it was all perfect till she died, and I love how she turned out with her love and her ruthlessness.

I think the only thing that doesn’t line up 100% is how Emily describes Norman upbringing and how Norman seemingly knew his wife was alive even though in the 60’s Norman was ranting to Peter about how she died and he had to take care of Harry.

I liked the retcon that changed Peggy Carter from Sharon's older sister to her aunt.

On the topic of rectons I think one of the best is when John Byrne changes it so dr doom was so impulsive thinking he was scarred that he put on a still hot mask only disfiguring himself more then what he though. While Kirby never showed dooms face in his run (to my knowledge) I remember seeing a video of Jack Kirby explaining Victor only has a little scar Ron his face.

I haven’t really gone into too much detail with both, cause I like both series, but I remember reading this and feeling like he could conflict with some aspects of untold tales of Spider-Man, but I might just be remembering the series different.

Fair points, but I think the word "Run" is missing from your headline. I think Tony Stark and Superman are both less stagnant than Spider-Man at this point. But that's often been a problem with Spider-Man. He graduated from high school, but then was in college for something like 15 years.

I just finished the Ditko run last night, I refresh TH-cam this morning and here this is on my home page

this is one of my favourite comic runs that marvel have put out! Read it for the first time back in 2022 and this reminds me of those times

Roger Stern and Tom DeFalco Spider-Man is peak Spider-Man. Edit: Peter gets the Symbiote because his red and blues were in tatters during Secret War and was pointed to a room by Thor and Banner where he could get it fixed. However, Peter uses the wrong machine and releases the Symbiote which had been exiled and imprisond on Battleworld by its hive because it was seen as a weak link for desiring symbiosis instead of domination.

I loved this era especially because we got to see Peter Parker and Mary Jane marriage which made me so happy in my opinion.

I love Ron Frenz's artwork. It truly is a spiritual successor to Ditko's. Artists like Todd McFarlane and Erik Larsen would continue the trend of using Ditko as inspiration. The difference being that they would modernize it to an even greater degree due to not being bound by the "house style" of Marvel. I would argue this trend started with Frenz.

That last line hits like a truck.

Raimi has different parameters in a different medium. MJ is much better here. Notice the revisit to Harry's Goblin snap- this run and those early issues were the richest influences.

I love the plotting between titles. Stern spoiled me with his scripting edge. This is my collector era.

It was shocking to me when I read the Symbiote story line for the first time. That 90's cartoon Spider-man was something else. Later their were Spider-man novels that used the same premise as well. That the Symbiote gave the wearer increase strength speed and spider-man other powers, but at the cost of there sanity.

This was the point in which life stuff caught up with me and I ended up not keeping to read all of Spidey's books as you are doing know... Maybe one day I will get back to it.

When I first read the Alien Costume Saga I was surprised discovering that Venom nether increased Peter's strength nor changed his personality. This was my first time getting chocked by the differences between the original material and the adaptation.

Chad Peter is the one TRUE Spiderman. Modern writers are fools not to realize this. Yes Pete has a lot of ups and downs in his life but he is NOT A LOSER! Once Peter git college he stopped being anything remotely like a loser

I haven’t read the black symbiote costume arc yet but I’m still heading there. I do find it odd that Black Cat only loves Spider-Man, not the man under the mask (which is so off). As for the symbiote, I was surprised that you say it doesn’t give Peter more strength, nor aggression? I always thought it did those things, I know because I watch the movie and tv shows.

I love how just like the runs you cover your own videos grow and improve. Like you've got rid of that background noise that was persistent in your earlier videos, your thoughts about the runs are more concise as well and editing is the most noticeable thing, just like the art that evolved through the decades..

I can only imagine the normies' reaction when they see that in the original black suit storyline the symbiote didn't affect the host's personality, and that was something that was invented purely by Spider-Man The Animated Series in the 90s.
