I didn’t encounter one until I went to Death Mountain, after Hebra. I’m just running across the rocks wondering where the lava went and why the sky is going funny. Scared the you know what out of me.

Pro tip: take a picture of Phantom Ganon after defeating the hands and look for Phantom Ganon with your Sheikah Sensor. It'll warn you when you approach one of the Gloom Spawn's locations 👍

Honestly, the hands give me more PTSD than the guardians. Once I figured out how to deal with the guardians, I didn't really worry about them. Hell, i started looking for them, especially because of their loot. The hands on the other....hand? (Pun not intended), I run from them even when I know I can take them. They are just not worth it, and they are so creepy!

My first encounter was an the great plateau as i tried to help this lady from the stable. I did the shrine as a little bonus and suddenly, a puddle of gloom appeared. I was confused, then completely terrified and died. Naturally, a respawned right on that spot where i triggered the hands so i ran and jumped off the cliff

Yeah. Phantom Ganon is so much easier to deal with then the hands. When I first encountered them, I recognized the cave area from the playthrough I watched (I didn't have the game at the time) and I panicked and was up by the shrine before they had the chance to pop up. But I freaked. Then I actually fought them and they aren't that hard. The Guardians in BOTW were ten times harder than the demon hands and Phantom Ganon

bro i encountered these things the first time i found the depths, i was already so fuckin creeped out by the darkness and the soundtrack the place has?? and then these bastards chase me outta nowhere?? what were they on when they made this game dude they went full spooky this time >:''^(

This was my exact experience. I encountered them and assumed they were floor masters. I bombed them from a higher platform. I killed them and then saw that health bar appear and was like, “Excuse me?! Who now?!!!!!!” I tried to fight him and was one shot. After my fairy saved me I warped away.

Lmao I literally just got out of that cursed cave in lindor's brow. It's my second play through and I'm pretty sure I can handle some pesky hands with my equipment, but the second I accidentally triggered them my brain just kicked me straight into panic mode. Pretty sure the last time Link ran that fast was the first time he kills a king gleeok, and realized it's already 11:25pm on a blood moon.

I know that exact cave cause that's where I first encountered those damn things. I hadn't climbed up the ledge yet so I was running and screaming for my life lmao. Then (after dying once) I went back like an idiot, managed to run past the gloomy monstrosities, climbed the ledge and tried shooting bomb arrows at them too. But I forgot about this little thing called "blast radius." Reader, I blew myself to smithereens.

These were the first gloomies I found, was looting the cave, ended up dying trying to climb the big rock in the center.

Haha, I know exactly where this is, too, because this is where I first met them as well. At first I thought they were Wallmasters. I died, booked it out of there, slapped a big 'NOPE' marker on that particular cave, and never went back XD (I can beat them now, but at the time...)

I remember finally beating them and doing that same sigh of relief only to have Phantom Ganon whoop me into next week

Unpopular opinion These are not comparable to guardians Just hearing the first note of the guardian theme makes me so terrified i dont think i can recover

Yeah, I use bomb arrows against the gloom hands I had a very good sword, so I beat phantom Ganon pretty easily

the other day I encountered it 4 times in a time span of 2 hours. people says it spawns from gloom around the place and it's an ambush enemy but there wasn't gloom in the last 2 places I went. I'm pretty convinced that it was following me on purpose at this point.

This is so good. The fear is his eyes. So relatable! 😂❤ I had my first encounter with them in the same cave. But they spawned when I was innocently collecting shrooms on the walls and walked over towards the shrine. I stared catiously at their gloopy dormant form for a second, until they noticed me and shrieked and chased me, and I had to make a mad dash back to the wall I came from. Tried to defeat them with bomb arrows, failed by blowing myself up because I shot too close to the edge, and marked the cave with a skull to come back to it when I was stronger, or had more bombs or patience. 😂

My first encounter was actually near some ruins when I was chasing a shooting star. 🌠 Terrifying stuff, but thankfully i had saved just before getting to the ruins, managed to swim around the area, and get the shootinf star after nearly getting hit by the tree monsters.

Haven’t played TotK myself but have watched my mom play it a fair amount and this is EXACTLY what happened the first time she encountered these creepy suckers 😂 Love this animatic so much 💜

I love to read people's experiences with this iconic mini boss, it was so memorable to everyone. I'll never forget my first encounter heading towards Zora's domain. Everything was so peaceful and I was just saying how beautiful the light effects are in this game as we heard the music change from a soft wind chime to panic inducing notes while _the entire sky turned red_ . I was so overwhelmed already that when the gloom spawns came gurgling at me all I could do is run in panic and never go back to that spot 😂

I genuinely screamed when I first encountered this thing, but I had a Great Eagle Bow and 20+ bombs. Now, my motto whenever I find this thing is: "keep calm, and nuke from orbit."

The fact that I know which shrine this is probably meant to be is funny, the fact that the first time I ever saw the gloom hands was at this shrine was terrifying.

My cousin and I played this together on launch day and we went to this exact shrine and it was our first gloom hand, like I assume it was for so many others but when I tell you it just got worse and worse for our scared confused brains. We were used to the red gloomy substance on the floor from BOTW, so it was normal... And then in moved, and we freaked out a bit, and then the hands, and we started to panick, and then the eyes in the hands and the screen went red, so we started screaming, and then the music played and the unholy screeeches that left our body, dude... AND THEN IT SCREAMED BACK AND WE JUST GAVE UP. But then we came back, determined to kill it, we did, amd then GANON and we freaked out again.

This is literally how it went down for me too😂 This was my first encounter, so I was telling my family about it and how I was afraid to go in caves now if that’s what’s waiting in them before they informed me they’re not just in the caves😅
