Ships already have advanced systems like UV lights and O2 removers to kill all living organisms in their ballast water before expelling it. Ships also expell that ballast water before even entering the locks of a canal.

I'm sad she's going away. I never got to see her in action. This is why I went to see Michipicoten come in last year when she limped in from Thunder Bay. I was afraid she would share a similar fate. I'm still not completely convinced she won't.

Excellent video, Connor! I like your attention to detail. I like your ability to be concise while being thorough. I like the presentation of the history of the ships that you feature. History was one of my majors in college so, I'm always up to hear some history. I like your editing. You could drop your speaking rate off a bit but not by a lot. That's a Gen Z thing. I do know some Milenials who's mouths are like machine guns and words are their bullets, though. You've come a long way in the past two years or so since I signed on to your channel. Hmm, what other ships to I want you to do videos on? How far back in time to you want to go? Hope you're doing well, my friend.

@ConnorTenold I'm doing well. Thanks for asking. I'm just trying to stay warm in what is, as of the time I'm wring this, 1 degree weather. I'm in the middle of Michigan and I can't imagine it's much better in Minnesota. Lol! My computer quit working. It's 8 years old so, I decided to get a new one. That's been fun. It has an NVMe drive. Those things are blazing fast. They don't take up a lot of space either. There was a Canadian freighter, the S.S. Kamloops that sank off of Isle Royale in December of 1927. Those that didn't make it off the ship are still dwon there, nearly perfectly preserved. It might be interesting to revisit that sinking. Stay warm, stay healthy and study welol, Connor!

They traverse the St Mary’s river below the Soo all the time, and that’s a lot of turns. They also enter and leave the ports and docks with no tug assist. But all ships have “bad days” heh.

Excellent video, Connor. Your knowledge of vessels, cargoes and history of the Great Lakes is fascinating. My thoughts for future shipping on the Lakes are that slowly the footers will be phased out, due to the limit of ports available. Not all, but just as the smaller boats were replaced by the footers, the shoe will be on the other foot. I often thought what the Captain of the CARL D. BRADLEY, lost on lake Michigan in 1958, and at one time the largest self unloader in the Lakes, would think of what to say if he saw any of the footers of today. I think he would shake his head, and go back in the pilothouse for a cup of coffee. 11:38 11:38

She was damaged, fully loaded, taking on water, in rough waves. In that area she was longer than the lake was deeps. Odds are when dropping down she struck the floor. In my humble opinion.
