I’m guessing you have figured out by now that the wire from the 5th wheel is not to release the trailer, it actually boosts the power when a trailer is hitched up, I always bridge them giving full power all the time and the vibration motor is only good in the bin, it shakes the screws loose

    • @StBlazeyModelWorld

It was a classic case of reading the instructions and totally misinterpreting what they said lol. I did figure it out yes, eventually :) I no longer own that truck but I might buy another in due course. It did not get used too much so I never encountered the shaking screws issue. Many thanks for your helpful comment.

I have a rolling road and no testing track. If I need a test track then I just put the item on the layout and let it go from there.... I use my rolling road to test the items I have just fixed be it a loco, powered tender or even when adding lighting to carriages, it is a quick way to see if they are working or not.. It is great and handy and just hangs on a hook on the side of my workbench. I only model in DC.

I've bought two collections. Both worked out well. One was loads of trains, wagons, coaches and Track etc. Great value. The second was a bare bones layout baseboard and frames that has formed the blank base for what is now my Garage Project Layout. This was all dismantled so I could pick it up and transport it on my car roof racks and in the boot. It worked out well, but I didn't get the base shelves that were in the photos for the sale. Once dismantled it's hard to check that you have all the parts to rebuild it. The pick up was too far away to be worth going back. Lesson learned. Still good value though for the money paid.

Unless a model collection contains a significant number of items the purchaser needs (or can readily sell on) they are often best avoided. In terms of modelling, sometimes it is better to try and do well on a particular area of modelling rather than spread one's efforts across diververse topics. Notwithstanding, it is always down to the individual modeller to make their own choice as to how they spend their time, effort and money...........

Hi. I recently managed to get one of the red efe BEA routemaster’s and luggage trailer for a cheap price and I’m planning on making it into one of the blue early ones as a code 3 project but I’m in need of some advice. Unknown to me when I got it for a really good price the seller had not mentioned it didn’t have a tow hitch. And I was wondering if you knew what would be the best way to make a replacement as I feel it’s a big part of the model. Thanks in advance

Hello and thank you for your question. I am unsure about the RMA range in detail, I do not own one myself. I did just have a quick look at it on the web. It looks like tricky thing to recreate however if the model is going to be in bits I might try using part of a large size paperclip in some way. Regarding your project, did you mean the BEA livery? If so that model is available as 36201, link here from Modelzone: www.modelbuszone. .uk/efe/dd/156/36201.html If I can help further please do not hesitate to get in touch

In North America Fast Tracks makes similar tools for many gauges and radii. The prices are much lower than the tracksettas. Their tools are laser cut wood and pieces can be snapped together. I even use pieces in 3 different radii to make transition curves. Gauges go from Z to O, and I believe they can make other gauges on a custom basis.

Firstly, thank you for your viewing time and leaving a comment/question. Sunstar do make great stuff in 1:24. However, it is documented that some of their tampo printing in some of their more ambitious projects (Like the Littlewoods RM) had issues. Buy direct if you can, ie, when you can examine the product. If buying off Ebay examine all pictures of the item in question. Check for the inclusion of indicators, mirrors and in many cases platform pole. These were fitted to models upon dispatch. The certificate is kind of useless but if you want it ensure it is included. Above all, don't be afraid to ask the seller questions and if you have any doubts...walk away. Another will come :) Bus events where stalls are at or even boot fairs etc are the best way to go. Don't get mislead on prices either mate. Often an advert will headline with " Ultra rare"....maybe yes, maybe no, hold the nerve and wait like I did for the item in my video. I hope that helps my friend

Hello from Oxfordshire, That model is really nice and if it what you really wanted then why not. Buses, I’m split between Maidstone & District (double deckers) as my dad was a driver at TW in the early 1950s and mum and I travelled on his bus occasionally. In 1955, I was travelling to school on the route 66 to school and travelled on the first Leyland Atlanteans on M&D. I do have a model of one of those buses. Later after moving to London and the delights of the RTs from ED garage, now alas long gone, on the 194 route, Forest Hill - Croydon Airport, daily to and from school in West Wickham. A friend and I were invited to join the LT families for tea at the Chiswick works, travelling on RT466 (from ED). One of the ED buses from my school days is now in the LTM Covent Garden, it’s the gold painted one on the red carpet. I liked it best in red. I have that model too. In fact I have many models of the M&D and LT buses in various scales, but none of the 66 or 194 routes. Model trains too, from German N 1:160 scale, 00 steam and DMU - including the delightful 142 pacers, they did the job for what they were, a bus on rails (with a toilet). Southport - Manchester Piccadilly on the real thing with my young son, now a fond memory of those times. I’m now involved with real live steam at 7/8” - foot or 1:13.7 on 45mm gauge track representing 2 foot (610mm) track gauge. These are gas fired so very little smoke (from the steam oil to lubricate the pistons, cylinders and valves) and no ash. These models in the 16mm - foot (1:19) etc range in price* from £1800 to £5000 depending on the manufacturer. Note: * just a guide (guess). I have Accucraft 7/8 and a 16mm Roundhouse, all 0-4-0 locos, two are radio controlled. A Beyer-Garratt is about £5000, No I haven’t got one. Wishing you safe journeys and best wishes from Oxfordshire.

Thank you for comment. Chiswick was a great place to visit. I was lucky enough to be there a lot. Large scale models certainly have a place in a collection, providing one has the space for them. Hearing about gas fired locos reminded me of the Mamod steam stuff, powered by a tray of burning meths to boil the water. What could possibly go wrong? :)

That's a fantastic model, what would 1:24 be in model railway terms? Got to be gauge 1 at least, surely. (And no I'm not suggesting that...) I have a model of the bus I passed my test in so maybe I'm heading down the same way myself.

    • @StBlazeyModelWorld
      @StBlazeyModelWorld หลายเดือนก่อน

ok so...N gauge= 1.48th...2mm to the foot, 176 ...4 mm to the foot, more commonly known as 00 gauge g=for model makers here in the UK. 0 gauge is 7mm to the foot. I forget now off the top of my head what 1/24 scale is but we are talking g gauge (Garden gauge) if you are into model railways/railroads :)

I could write a book my friend about my life on the buses. Even before I left school I worked at a bus depot....wouldn't happen now due to health n safety etc lol If you ever watched "On the buses" , it really was like that when I first started out as a kid. Many thanks for viewing and taking time to leave a comment :)

@@StBlazeyModelWorld I hear you, my late father in law was a driver for 30 + years in Glasgow. I think he had girlfriends all along his route, his Mrs caught him out due to one of them taking him his lunch while she was on the bus 🤣🤣🤣

I loved the DMS didn’t get to drive one as my garage had metros ,it’s a superb model but the rear light clusters are wrong they didn’t come in until 1975 when the fleetline started to badged as a leyland the light clusters should be just indicator brake/ rear light and a spotlight reversing light but in the garage two beeps of the horn before reversing ,but im jealous mate I want one 😂from one bus driver to another take care and enjoy it sorry to pick out something forgive Cheers Mark 😊😊

No it's all good Mark and you are right. Sadly, no amount of money buys you the perfect model. I am considering some upgrades to this by installing a side desti...that may only be a decal...and maybe also some working interior lighting. I drove M class as well but the very early ones out of FW. Many thanks for viewing and taking the time to comment. i do genuinely appreciate it mate. Stay safe :)

I passed my test on M30 one of the FW former allocation that was the garage I had my test from ,the first 50 looked great in red and white didn’t they tell me our metros didn’t have it but what was that thing in the right hand corner of the dashboard it was black with a curved top and a round knob on it cheers mate

@@marksinthehouse1968 Oh mate it's so long ago. I cannot actually remember now. The M class had a sparse cab, like the DMS/SMS. Somewhere I have aphoyo of an M cab, I'll try to find it and see if I can help answer your question. IT sounds odd, possibly, but I drove just about everything on the road at that time, and you kind of forget small detail as the years pass. I was later an NBC man so drove everything with a Bristol and Leyland badge on as well....where did the years go?

I collect West Midlands buses specially Birmingham and I know some of them are expensive but I'm willing to pay the price to get what I want so I can understand where you're coming from and you know I still look for the Birmingham bus I haven't got my only memories are when I was a child in Birmingham when I used to go to the midland red bus station in Birmingham watch the buses go in and watch the buses go out it's a bit like Charlie and the chocolate factory really
