Great info thanks.
Great information thanks for taking your time to help others.👌
very informative .thank you
Awesome video....THANK YOU!!!
Outstanding video , thank you for the lesson
Couldn't read the gauge for the glare. Factory dimples are typically how high?
i have learn over the years u want to get the 02xx 400r turbo to start with for a stock trans they are the best stock they are good to 800 hp plus i get them free with low miles on them u can tell if u have one they weld 02xx on the bell housing from the factory gm calls it strip or heavy application trans
Can the original drum be used with the 34 element sprague or is it not possible. I purchased a 400 and the drum is in excellent shape, like new! Thank you for your videos!!!! B
amazing
Great video.. I'm building my first 400 and have a question on 3/8 washer add to the pump spring. When I took mine a part to add the spring for the trans brake I notes mine doesn't have the horseshoe washer is there a reason why this one doesn't have it and is it still okay to add the 3/8 washer for 180 PSI. Thanks Johnny
👍👍👍
Thank you for the AWESOME explanation
We're not worthy 🙇♀️🙇♂️🙇
Putting one together again for the drag car. I hope I got it right this time!!!
Do you ever do the full time oiling mod to the rear planets by drilling a small hole beside the converter feed hole? What's your opinion on this?
I have a question and I hope you don't mind me asking. I'm putting bushings in my pump, I had it written down but now I can't find it. How deep is the front and rear stator bushings driven in?
New videos up soon Thanks
I'm doing the sonnax th400 case saver and using a full manual valve body that keeps the band. Can you upgrade to the wider 1.25" front band while using the th400/early 4l80e case saver? Will it need the later longer servo pin if it will work with the wider band? I know you can use the wider 4l80e band with the longer servo pin in a 400, but will it still work using the sonnax case saver/intermediate snap ring support?
Yes
When the pressure regulator blocks off the converter feed hole, how does it stay full of oil and feed oil through the center oil passages (input shaft, main shaft ect.)? How does the converter not run out of oil? I love the video, please keep them up and show how it goes from the pump, through the valve body and separator plate and into the drums to engage them. I'm trying to learn the circuitry of these. Thanks
The converter will run out of oil. New video soon
Will a 4l80e wide front band work in a th400 or is it even needed?
Yes. No, not "needed".
Good stuff !
Great video and explanation. Will the convertor charge restriction make the convertor feel any looser? Keep up the good work. Cheers.
I can build and engine from bottom up. Proper valvetrain I mean everything…. Including using the mic (Not Plasti junk). and can watch 1000 of these videos and not understand a damn thing.
When is the next video coming out
Great video except sprague direction unfortunately. Also pretty easy to make a tool to hold rear assembly as a unit. Big washer cut to a U with a T handle
These tips helped me out, thank you!
Anyone notice the 34 element Sprag was on upside down? He turns it easily counter clockwise several times 👎👎👎 wrong way.
Good morning Mr Tobby. Thanks for taking the time to make these informative videos. I see that you're pretty well stocked up on TransGo shift/Reprogramming kits. Can you tell us which TransGo kit you prefer for your high HP/drag racing transmissions?
Excellent video , Thank You !!
Excellent vid. I didnt know about the dimple trick, that is definitely something I will use in my process from now on when needed.. Thank you for sharing, its appreciated... liked & Subbed.. 👍
Good job. Excellent you mentioned the rear bush. Repaired that exact problem some years ago. Bush hadn’t spun just moved.
Great information and thanks for the knowledge .
interesting about the oiling on tailhousing
I do have a question so I Polarized the back end with the 350 pump bearing and shim I got close to the factor shims but is there a actual end play specification. I have .014 with the center support in
.008-.015
@@tobbystransmissions6046 thanks
Glad I saw this before assembling mine thanks for the info on that position adjuster and the tail bushing
I wouldn't be too hard on yourself about leaving that stuff out. Thanks to your first video that I compulsively watched over and over I went from knowing zero about transmissions to building a th400 and 4l80e for my own projects! The only other info I sourced was paying attention to Hutch on the Chevelle forum (I think) and piecing information together from crankshaft coalition's th400 wiki..
Hutch is a very smart guy. And congrats on your builds ,, Tobby.
@@tobbystransmissions6046 thank you sir, that was a very kind comment!
Does anyone know what max line pressure is on a th400 I have 200 at 2000 rpm and it goes up with more rpm like 400
sounds like the spring is holding the valve closed ,,you don't want more than 300 with stock drums
@@gantgarage8607 I finally figured it out was the line pressure way to much now I'm just having trouble with the front pump gasket breaking.
Great video I learned a bunch of stuff.
Congratulations on a good outing. Say, I'm a little behind here and want to know where I can find info on the motor you are running. I'm planning to get an old Vega out of the garage and dusting it off. But it needs a new powerplant which revs pretty high also because of the gearing i run. Maybe you can point me to an earlier video?
Hello Sir! Question? Can you duel feed! Without a reverse valve body and no trans brake! If so would like to know and see a video on how to do this! Thank you kindly, And keep up all that you do.
Thank you for sharing your tips n tricks. You did a great job on this vid.
Great video, I have a question about the modification to the lube hole on the output shaft. When doing this modification will I then be causing too much of a leak for the rear bushing? Also when you shim the rear bearing (th350 pump bearing) do you stack the shims on the case side or the planetary side?
GREAT VIDEO
I prefer to use aluminum pistons over steel pistons. The wavy spacer doesn't support the bottom steel as evenly as the aluminum piston does.
Was your direct drum sprag free spinning the wrong way I thought it was supposed to spin clock wise and lock counter clockwise in the video it spins counter clockwise and locks clockwise?
Thank you so much! You saved time in not going through the tear down but SO MUCH value added with the information you gave! I'll be watching this over and over when I do mine!
Thank you for this! Fantastic video!
Like the announcer said, at the end of the video ,we just had a bad weekend.
This is great. Thank you. May I ask for some help? I did a shift kit with granny in car. I was concerned with the check balls so I used grease to hold them in place. Maybe a lot. Is that going to prevent them from moving? I assumed with 100psi of pressure minimum, of would not be an issue. Now I am rethinking that..... Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated.
No issue.
