All things cars, and much, much more
Land Rover Defender 200TDI Forest Drive
This was filmed before Covid19 and lockdown. A good friend and social media giant NFox.TV filmed my rusty 200TDI through a rather muddy forest on Salisbury Plain.

มุมมอง 4.3K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Welcome to episode 2. In this episode we are removing the 2.25 diesel engine in preperation for installing a 3.5 V8 from a RRC. Stay tuned and I promise to finish this build series. Filming is fun, editing is not. Thank you for watching.
BMW E46 330ci resonator exhaust mod - BRUTAL SOUNDS!!
มุมมอง 2.3K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Hello folks Just like the rest of the world, I am bored from being stuck in the house. So I decided to remove the rear resonator from my 330ci track car. Also, the car never had the butterfly valve connected when I bought this shed. Yes I know this isn't a Land Rover. This is another project which I am tinkering with. Thanks for watching :)

A quick trip exploring Salisbury Plain, when we came across two modified Land Rover Discoveries. It was a superb day out, but we could have done with a bit more mud ;)

I attended a fantastic and exclusive car event, hosted by drivesouthwest.co.uk/, where this beautiful Koenigsegg CCX stole the show. This is an incredibly rare car, and I am so happy to have finally seen one in the flesh. Copyright Thanks to th-cam.com/video/oEfbtkwNRoA/w-d-xo.html for the music.
Land Rover Series 3 Off-Road
มุมมอง 48K7 ปีที่แล้ว
A quick video of my friend's Land Rover series 3 off road, after a 3 year restoration project. We visited Salisbury Plane in search of some mud, to test the craftmanship from the restoration. As you can see, the Landy wasn't phased by the outing. The video was filmed on a Panasonic G80/G85, and edited on Adobe Premier Pro CC 2017.
What a lousy driver.
Pretty well Exactly what I expected really........................
Momentum and off road tyres take you to the deeper holes to get stuck in then you buy winches ect.
Land rover series 3 is around 400 Kg lighter
the mud tyres on the series was the difference, also dont be afraid to spin the tyres in mud as its what clears them and stops them being slicks, im not saying go crazy but it looked like you was driving as you would in snow. Snow grips snow hence slow so you keep the snow in youre tyres, mud doesnt work the same, spin and clear the tread. nice looking series btw.
A decent set of tyres would have made all the difference.
What engine is your series 3 running on? It such a fun environment to play around right there.. 👍
i love ur landy
dont hesitate with the throtle mate, use the momemtum 👍
All about the tyres. Some decent Mud tyres and youd both fly up there :D
Hey, nice video! Any new Episode coming up? did you finish the swap?
Oh and short remark: You only need to cut the left footwell on a RHD serie III. If you modify the exhaust pipes you can fit it in and only need to cut one side. Make retrofit easier! Retrofitting a LHD therefor is really not easy. I have a Serie III RHD V8 conversion and I am restoring it at the moment.
Tyres clogged with mud, the Series III should have made a new track out of the the pathway already there.
Is there a part 3?
Nice series! What make parabolics do you have and are they soft? I bought some Rocky Mountains years ago for my 88 (two leafs) but they are terrible. Looks like the older they get the harser they get. I already changed the shocks but the springs are just rubbish. I think i'm going back to stock springs. They were softer than the garbage from canada😅
I'm surprised to find this video. I was considering deleting the second resonator and leaving my stock backbox (the muffler at the back on the car) I also have a T mod. Wondering if it will sound good.
I love soft top off roaders, I'm trying to import a 70 series Land cruiser with soft top from south america as soon as possible Even though the 90 Land Rover brought various good features, a great feature about the series 1 to 3 is that they could sit 3 people in the front. As a dog owner I love bench seats personally
Hi Is there any updates on this conversion please thanks.
My brother in law is four years into the complete restoration of his series 3 and £20,000 poorer I can’t imagine him ever taking it out in mud……
👍
The poor little S3 gearbox haha
It's had better days, but touch wood, it's the only part of the car which hasn't been replaced.... yet 😂
This car is Great !!!
defender is never about speed, put in low diff lock and let her pull you over in her own time, second gear low revs, and just a tickle, let the low rev long stroke tdi work its magic
Couldn't agree with you more. When I was new to off roading, I would just accelerate hard all the time, but now I know. Slow and steady wins the race 🤠
What’s happened to the 90 now
Long story short, rust. Lots and lots of rust 😭
@@vinnyvsx4954 do you know what’s happened to it because I’ve just brought one and it’s got no vin or plate and was just told it was used as an off roader
It went to some guy in Devon, who wanted it as a pure off roader but he was going to fix it up. But it hasn't had an MOT for a while. Does the one you bought look like my 90 from the videos? If it does, I had a safety switch on the ignition circuit in the dash, it might still be there.
@@vinnyvsx4954 was his name Darren?
I think so
Deflate the tyres a bit and put a compressor in back
From old reliable but slow to unreliable power.
The opposite, sir. The 3.5 V8 has an edelbrock carb and upgraded camshafts. The Series is now away faster than it has any right to be. It's actually comical. Why people get all misty eyes for the old 2.25 petrol and diesel engines, I don't get it. They're slow, unreliable, noisy and just awful. Everyone should do a V8 conversion.
@@vinnyvsx4954 everyone should do the conversion . . . and then post up a vid about it - just heading to the long awaited sequel!
It's coming matey. Covid has stopped most of the progress on the Series, but when I can get back down to the unit, I'll start filming all the progress
You 1974 Lenny has been out playing in the snow in Aberdeenshire the last couple of weeks. Bloody marvellous little car although a heater that was hotter than a glowing candle would have been nice............ Keep going with the videos 👍🏻
Thanks for the comment. I bet you had a lot more snow than we did down south lol. I know what you mean about the heater, they're crap. I've installed a marine heater and now the Series is nice and toasty 😄
Brilliant motors both of them and I own both models. The only car I ever owned that made me smile more was the Citroen 2 CV. Nothing beats on old belter for some analogue driving and a great laugh. Subbed to see more and support your channel 👍🏻
Thank you Tony. I have a lot more content planned, but Covid has stopped me seeing my other Landy friends. Wow you had a 2CV. I love those cars and would really like to own one at some point
What happened with the v8 conversation?
It's almost finished, but I haven't been able to get to the unit to finish it. Covid has put a stop to everything 😞. I'm going to do another video very soon on my Landy
@@vinnyvsx4954 aa shame about covoid but restrictions are starting to lift
You need to rename this to 'Land Rover Defender 200TDI Forest Drive - ASMR' 🤣
Haha. Apart from me, I wonder who else would listen to an ASMR Land Rover video 🤷♂️
@@vinnyvsx4954 me 😂
Video lacking pole.
The next episode will contain more pole
hi what is the tire size ?
9.00 ?
I just stumbled across this and immediately subbed! dead keen to see how you tackle this. I have 3 series 3s. One is a Stage One V8
Oh man that sounds awesome. Did you upgrade your brakes and diffs etc?
@@vinnyvsx4954 well, the Stage One is all about beefing it up. They had the V8 big brakes fat diffs - they are rare - but they are out there- here is one of my vids th-cam.com/video/VwsvPJYkGkk/w-d-xo.html
Amazing dude! Can't wait to see more!
Original gearbox and brakes?
Good to see you back on the 'Tube mate! Series 3's looking clean! 😎
Is there any pole?
Not this time, but tune in for the next episode for more pole
Great vid, I am excited to see a fellow Series III owner on TH-cam!
Thanks Sam 🙂. Tell me about your S3, always cool to chat to a fellow Landy owner
@@vinnyvsx4954 I've got a 1973 NAS Series III 88" petrol station wagon that is pastel green. I purchased it as my first car a few months (I'm 16). Funny enough, 2 months after a bought it, my family announced that we would be moving to England (I'm from Salt Lake City, Utah) for a period of 3 years so in the mean time, my grandpa is taking care of it. On my channel, I have a video of me demonstrating how to drive a manual and you can see it there if you like.
Is it a 4 speed and what engine has it got? Thanks
4 speed 2.25 l engine 4 cylinder
very cool: D. My father also drove a Land Rover 88 Series 3 Diesel ... that was a long time ago .. I'm already thinking about a Land Rover Series 3 suction diesel hole .. I've already found one .. I ask the dealer if he'll take my Suzuki Jimny FJ in payment. Question: Are Land Rover Series 3s vulnerable? I hear how robust they are ... is that correct? I'm thinking of the TDI 300 or a series 3 ... I think series 3 is more beautiful! Thanks for the answer, greetings from Germany :) sorry i'm not very good at english
It depends if you want power assisted steering, if you do then I recommend an early Defender with a 200tdi engine, or a slightly later model with a 300tdi. The Series 3 is a very basic car and in my experience is very reliable when not modified. But you'll still need to keep on top of maintenance, as they will break occasionally. I also highly recommend upgrading the heater in a Series 3, they're terrible lol. You can get an upgrade from any marine (boat) website and it's easy to install. Best of luck and your English is great 😃
You series 3 (1974 registered) is still going strong and it doesn’t get wrapped in cotton wool. No luxury at all but that’s half the fun 👍🏻
So you only removed the resonator?? You still have stock exhaust?
Correct I have removed the rear resonator and also the backbox flap mod
@@vinnyvsx4954 im sorry but what do you mean by backbox? You mean the rear muffler?
@@Guanakito503fcb golf tee mod
Correct, in the UK we call the rear muffler a backbox. So I have done the golf T mod and also removed the rear resonator 🙂
@@vinnyvsx4954 you replied too late! I ended up buying and axle back exhaust🤣
Fantastic. Work constantly at the wheel to find traction at the rut margins. If that fails & if the ruts aren't too deep, reduce tyre pressure as low as poss, depending on how far you are from home - & you'll stroll it with probably no wheelspin. Otherwise straddle the ruts & climb up on a fresh surface, which looks possible here, tho' you might go up at an interesting angle. But that's OK. There are lots of options before lockers & super aggressive tyres. I knew a guy who kept a bag of pine needles in his LR, which he'd sprinkle on tracks like this to make them driveable.
Skinny tires for the win!
Wrong type of tires
It’s all in tyres!
It really is. I had cheap Chinese off road tyres here, whereas the Series 3 was running BF Goodrich A/T's. There's no contest on which is a better tyre 😂
A Citroen 2CV on its bicycle tyres would have shot up it like a rat up a drainpipe 😄👍🏻
Series had much better tyres for those conditions.
What size tyres are you using?
Hello my friend, Great Job!!! What have you done with the gearbox, has it also been replaced by the one from the Range Rover or have you kept the original from series 3???
If in doubt flat out landy
Nice
The great thing within 10 minutes you can be up up on the plain. Nice series 3 as they have such character and fun to drive off road. 👍
Are you local to the Plains mate? I've spent years exploring the area and I still get lost 😂. The series 3 is one unique Landy. I'm more of a Defender guy, but my mate (who owns the Series) utterly adores the thing
just get a Land Cruiser bro
Haha nah dude, I am a sucker for unreliability
