@@DiggingAlaska lol Monica 😂
Oh sorry, you know I know it Monica. Lapse in memory.
Dig it!
Ha ha
Looking good, is that your well head? That’s awfully close to the road? Maybe a few boulders around it so it doesn’t get hit, again looking good
Not mine, it is the client's well.
Looks good.. That music there at the start was too much, almost blew my headphones apart, Suggest Natural sounds, no need for music
OK thanks for letting me know
HOWDY BILL💌💌
Hi Ace, How are you
Man that sure was a big job! Nicely done. I don’t watch ant other excavating channels. Thanks
Yes it was and I drastically underestimated the work but I finally got it done.
I watch a guy called Andrew camarata excavator on TH-cam
Love watching Andrew. I've invited him up to snowmachine but he hasn't come up yet.
Watch what Music. Do you play? It could be copyright on your video.
Thanks! I've been copywrited a few times already. Now I only use music from TH-cam Music library.
@@DiggingAlaska very good idea bill
Bill why do you have to go so deep
In this area waterlines need to be 10 feet deep to prevent freezing. If they are under roads/driveways/etc, they need to a lot deeper.
Note the foam board for added protection, area often sees -40 temps in the winter
Wow, how deep did you say you need to dig to install water lines?
Minimum 10 feet in this area. And even then they can freeze in a harsher than normal winter
@@DiggingAlaska wow ok thanks
Wasn’t expecting things to be so difficult
I know, digging into the hill took so long and then digging in the driveway area was extremely compacted and had lots of bigger rocks. But I got it finally. Thanks!
Dig it, Bill
Thanks Brian
Excellent job!
Thanks Greg!
I enjoy watching your channel. I don't believe blocking the home owner's inconvenienced anyone else. Re: your question about how I would've dug the trench, I have no experience operating an excavator and am more of a master of disaster than a skilled operator. Therefore, I'd have done exactly what the homeowner did and hired you, a professional, to dig it.😊
Yes, that's true about blocking the driveway. Of course I talked it over with him before starting the job. In this next video, you will see just how much material I dug out.
A suggestion: Of course you want to use your own equipment. But in this case, you should rent a 10+ton excavator. That would allow you to dig from the road and uphill to the house in the correct depth without making a hole for your excavator first! Just a suggestion, take it or leave it😉 Greetings from Denmark
Thanks for the suggestion. I agree with that. Yes, wanted to use my own equipment so I wasn't going to rent. Thanks for watching
Well you officially bit off more than you can chew & not only blocked the roadway ( who else has access, were they ticked off ? aka the silver car ) And created a mountain.... Tough go for sure.
I did bite off too much but I did eventually get it done. The road was just the home owners driveway and he doesn't live there yet. He was fine with me blocking it for a couple days. Thanks for watching
Nice job! Love watching
Thank you!
Nice
Thanks
Spray if off it could be a giant gold nugget
I wish it was
First Time to Alaska?
Nope
Nope
It’s called permafrost!
Nope, it's only permafrost if it's frozen all year long. There isn't any permafrost in the general area.
Nope, it's only permafrost if it's frozen all year long. There isn't any permafrost in the general area.
I would have figured that you would have started at the bottom so that way it didn't cave in as easily!!! I know nothing about being an operator though!!!
It would cave in no matter where I started. It caves because I have to dig 10 feet deep and it's all gravel. Thanks for the comment and watching
You did an awesome job, Bill!
Thanks Brian
Hello Bill very nice work looks good here from Ontario Canada ❤️❤️❤️❤️🇨🇦🇨🇦😎
Thanks Mike!
Started off i was about to say you needed a trenching bucket Though obviously due to the conditions you answered the unspoken question of 10ft So you ended up digging a mine shaft heh - Make it a complete series of multiple Parts... content is always content......Always interesting....
Thanks. Yeah the ground is sand/gravel/rock so when digging in it, you have to a lot wider than if it was all dirt. Plus to get the 10 foot depth, I go at least 10 feet wide at the top. It is crazy how deep it has to be to prevent freezing.
Looks like fun.
A lot of fun but very frustrating due to the sides keep caving in. I guess that's what happens when you dig in gravel.
That looked like a steep hillside
Yeah it was. There is about 20 or 30 feet that was really steep. In the next video you'll see how I have to dig the trench bc of the steepness
A smaller bucket would give you more digging power. Ken
Yeah. I normally use a 2 foot digging bucket for stumps and big rock. I use the 5 foot clean out bucket to move a lot of material quickly. Time is money and I usually bid these by the job. Thanks for the comment and for watching
I have been watching u tube videos about your area. I would like to visit this area sometime in the future. I like solitude, however the Mrs. likes her daily shopping tours. Anyway I can dream.
There's areas just outside of Anchorage where it's really quiet but only a short drive into town.
Doin a great job sir
Thank you very much. I hope you're enjoying watching my videos
Don't you have a smaller bucket?
Yes I have a 2 foot digging bucket. I use it for burying electrical lines, stumps, big rocks, etc. I use this 5 foot bucket for moving a lot of material quickly. Thanks for watching
My wish is that I was there to help. Being in Alaska with bears roaming freely around, moose, mountain lions. Dealing with untamed nature. Talk about an adventure. Ken
It is pretty cool. Don't see bears very often. See moose once in a while.
Bill, First off what part of Alaska are you in? As mentioned I am 68 years of age living in central Missouri. There are many sites that I visit from time to time however after listening to your machine I have come to a conclusion. You care for your equipment. How do I know this? I did not hear any sounds of pins and bushings needing replacement. And you show that you lube your machine.. How many months of the year are you running the 50? Do you have a helper? Anyway without going into to much detail I have never been to Alaska but hopefully someday I will venture to your area and watch the Aurora Borealis. BTY we had the northern lights while I was riding my sled in NY. I had consumed a few brews and stopped for a bit and thought the world was coming to an end. It was beautiful. Sorry to be long winded but I am now awaiting with bated anticipation of your next challenge. Ken.
Hey Ken! I'm in Willow Alaska area. It is about an hour north of Anchorage. My 50 is new, maybe 300 hours on it. I do grease it every 8 - 10 hrs depending on what I've been doing. I run the machine from about June through September. I do use it during the winter when either we get a good dump of snow or when the snow piles start encroaching and need to be moved back.
@@DiggingAlaska Bill, Talk about being out in the middle of know wear. Right now here in Missouri it is 88 degrease outside. Anyway thanks for the quick reply. I am viewing your productions. I like what I am viewing. Ken
Thanks Ken! @kenskip1 Glad you like my channel
Sir looks very nice
Thanks! I'm glad you like it.
I was amazed by the size of the root balls you pulled up with the stumps. At first I thought they might've been vines. There were a couple stumps and roots that were as large as old VW Beetles. Great work !!
Thank you! Yeah, the trees roots don't go very deep so the need to spread out in a cobweb style to stay standing.
I have the same machine, they are impressive.
Looks like it turned out pretty good! 👍
I wasn't sure how much fill would be needed but it firmed up nicely. Thanks
Dang Bill I didn't know they could move that fast.
It's all Scotties doing.
I like to feel my soil too. Be one with the soil
It is nice soil for drainage. Stay tuned, in a few weeks, I dig up a frozen chunk of dirt.
Good one, 1st watch of channel frrom N Texas... you were pushing down the 3 trees i kept saying move forward another 1.5 feet and push them over ( from what can be seen you had plenty of real estate left ) as well as grabbing them sooner w the thumb to lift & move...Other than that looks good customer should be pleased..
Yeah, could've moved a little closer. Thanks for subscribing and watching.
I only signed up for "digging Alaska", not "backfilling Alaska". I want my money back. -Karen
Too funny. Thanks for watching

That's the name of the game
You have got really good on that rig.
Thanks Tony. If you need anything, please let me know.
Waiting for your video of my waterline from hell, lol. Excellent work by the way.
Ha ha ha I think that's going to be 2 or 3 videos.
Do you think you could drive that to Western New York?
It's possible ha ha 😂
looking good how do u like the bobcat machines?
So far I like it. I don't have any experience with other brands but I like this machine. Thanks for watching
You did a great job Bill. 😊
Thank you
Nice job. Thanks for sharing!
You're welcome.
